In the late 1970's, or early 80's Ronnie had a hotel in Guernsey. I used to travel to the Channel Islands quite a lot, on business, in those days, but I never stayed there. I prefered the Old Government House Hotel, where, by the way, I met Oliver Reed accompanied by his 16/17 year old girlfriend at the time.However, that is another story.
Always remembered this, being whistled by a salvation Army guy. We walked along the cliff top to next village, in Cornwall, in later 50's & the band was playing this song, with their own whistler! Such memories,

We played both this song and 'The Dream of Olwen' at My mother's funeral in Dec 2008 before and after the service....There were many enquiries as to ' Who was That ??'.

Ronnie is one of the Greatest Whistlers of all time! And still performing at 86!!! May he perform until he is in his 90's. What a gift, what a talent, so unique. I even spoke to him on the phone. He is a regular guy, who really enjoys life!
This takes me back to my childhood...I saw Ronnie at our Nottingham Royal concert hall when he was 80. He is a great star and this is the piece we were all waiting for. At the end he performed it faultlessly...

Yeah, I only heard it a few years ago when John Peel played it. He mentioned going to New Zealand and meeting Ronnie Ronalde, who was whistling at the time! And he's still going strong!

Brilliant. I`m on a box of trill every day and I`m definitely improving but I`ll never get near Ronnie`s standard.
