  • whelen ws 2012 and the other a whelen ws 2016.

  • Yes it is indeed a whelen ws 2016 Livonia mi used to have 3 of them but they were all decommissioned

  • that is a whelen ws 2016 yes they are very noisy sirens but somewhat annoying whelen makes some sirens that are complete failures sorry to dis on your towns sirens but its the truth if its a whelen its a failin the whelen wps 4004 across our town failed 3 times during tornado warnings so they finally replaced it with a FEDERAL SIGNAL 2001-130 i wish we still had our thunderbolts

  • I think its a whelen just how the cabinet looks,

  • Probably a warning system, so one siren won't do the job in a noisy public place.

  • @videosbythe5 - are You fucking serious? These are loud as Shit Fuck!

  • @TboltHurricane well excuse me for not seeing them or hearing them in canada!

  • @videosbythe5 - Canada Has sirens, Dude. . .

  • by any chance did that siren replace a 3T22?

  • its deff made by asc but thats all i got

  • whelen 2012

  • ASC AL-8000

  • Looks like one of the newer Whelen Sirens!

  • Whelen WPS20xx Federal3T22 Has a vid of it.

  • I think its a ASC AL-8000

  • those are whelen 2016s and '12s

  • 3 speakers on each array, I'd say Whelen 2012 if there is a such thing.

  • Yes whelen made a 2004 (only 1 row of 4 speakers) Whelen 2008 (2 rows of 4 speakers per row) Whelen 2012 (3 rows of 4 speakers per row) and a whelen 2016 (4 rows 4 speakers per row)

  • no those are whelen 2016s and 2012s

  • Older model Whelen

  • it is a federal signal DSA siren(directional speaker array)

  • I would say that is a siren for people to know a natural disaster if headed for us.

  • I'd say Whelen 2016 or a Federal Signal DSA Siren.

  • Do you think its possible to get a video recording of a Whelen WS-2016 going off for its testing??? We need more of these kinds of sirens on YouTube. Thank you.

  • im tryin dude, but i cant get to my grandparents while they test. im afraid i dont have much longer, because they are replacing them pretty fast. ill keep trying though.

  • Ok thanks. I might be able to get one next mounth too.

  • Yes it is a Whelen 2016 it uses a ESC-864 Siren Controller And yes you can get parts for them. I work on them.. FPU4004 is the Front Panel Upgrade. Make it all new...

  • aca asc, (alerting communities of america) fedral signal

  • These type of sirens near your grand's place manfatur that made those siren I know was shut down a while back that why they having them replaced because they can not get an parts for they.I bet some of them near and around is no longer working.

  • We have sirens that look like that in Livonia and I also would like to know what the names are.

  • We now have 7 of Millstone's WS 2000s waiting to go up. A WS 2008 is already up and in serivce, and what I suspect will be a 2016 will be installed in about 2 weeks.

  • well i returned to East Lyme for thanksgiving, and discovered every single WS2000 series siren I saw (except the one on my grandparent's hill) has a big brand new 2910 sitting less than 20 feet from it. They are much much taller than the 2000 series, and I could see they have better effectiveness because of their height. You know when the 2000's will be going down? I hope not soon. And, do you think they will run both at once?

  • I think probably in the spring more will come down. most likely they'd run the 2910 over the old WS 2000. You'll notice a much louder and lower toned sound

  • Its a alerttronic

  • whelen 2016

  • i guese im wrong

  • @trainboy99 It is not an alerttronic it's a whelen WS2016.

  • its a whelen 2016

  • yeah

  • These units are required by the Nuclear Regulatory commission to alert the neighboorhood rthere is a problem. they do a surveillance once a month, to verify the alrms and sirens all work. Sorry that they have to be teted, but welcome to nuclear power

  • haha i know...i agree somewhat with nuclear power...but i admire the sirens more

  • i gew up in ct, ive sen these alot, ive kinda gotten used to em, although they do look scary. my nickname for them is sixteen-horns, for the majority of them of are four stacked. i beleive they are WS2000's, although they do also look sort of like the fs DSA4

  • The 4 stacks are WS 2016s, the 3 stacks are WS 2012s and the 2 stacks are WS 2008s. There's also a rotational WS 2000R which looks like one section of a WS 2016, so far I have yet to find any in CT. I heard that the prison in Niantic uses a few of the 2016s for prison warnings, using hi-lo. I'm going to try to aquire a 2016 and a 2008 from Millstone (I know where I can probably get a 2012).

  • I will try to get a video...and I've looked up both sirens. I have to go with Federal3t22 on this one...I am almost positive they are WS2000s. they match all of the official pictures...and Seem to be the same siren...under the same circumstance he described of being removed and replaced.

  • Personally, I highly believe that these siren you are seeing were made by Federal Signal Inc. I would need a video to see if I'm correct.

  • federal signal or american signal

  • Whelen...WS2000s...which i figured out thanks to federal3t22 and a lot of research after i posted this video. Pretty ominous looking sirens.

  • It seems the 2910s wouldnt even look like sirens to the average person, but the WS 2000s would get a lot of people scared to see them around their town lol (when I was little I know they scared me.) Funny how design changes.

  • hate to see them being replaced

  • Do you think that you can record a test of these DSAs?

  • I'll see what I can do....but because the test is done for this month it will be a couple weeks.

  • BTW what time do they test them? Also do you know if any of the WPS 2910s are running yet?

  • i think they test them at 1 o clock....pm of course...and i dont think the 2910s are up and running quite yet. Should be soon though. It kinda sucks that these whelen's are going, cause I liked them, they had the look of a real siren to them. But oh well.

  • not that i know of, and 12:00 noon of every wednesday of the new month i beleive

  • these sound nothing like the Federal DSA. They make a very high tone, about as high as a 2001. I'd still love to see a video of a test. I may get a video of a daily test of one of Middlefield's WS 2000s, which were old CT Yankee plant sirens.

  • Haha awesome...I really dont know if the new 2910s are running yet, wasnt in CT for the test and the few that are installed arent near the house that I stay at, but have seen a few around and I imagine they are running them. They are much taller than the WS 2000's, and the ones I have seen have all been 2910s...so do you know f they are nstalling different models in the 2900 series? or just 2910s?

  • I'll try to get a test though.

  • from what I heard on the news last november, they're all going to be 2910s. They showed one going up in Old Saybrook, near Dock and Dine (which has/had a WS 2012 in their parking lot), replacing a WS 2016.

  • Maybe a little higher than a 2001. The DSA in reception73's video was that way.

  • Those are Whelen WS 2000s. The 1'st one showed in the slide show with the 3 rows of speakers is a WS 2012. the 2nd with the 4 rows is a WS 2016, and are the most commonly in their system. They also have a few WS 2008s with have 2 rows of speakers (4 rows total). There's about 125 of them in the system, which is being replaced over the next 3 years starting as of last year with 81 WPS 2910s. The WS 2000 series is about 20 years old and no longer produced by Whelen.

  • wow...thanks. Haha you definetely know what your talking about
