The Rus are descendants of the vikings. The Varangian Way tells the story of some Vikings who left his land, went through the western part of the Rus empire, and descended to Constantinople, where they were pirates first and finally the personal guard of the Byzantine Emperor.

No, the name Rus is just that, a name, it refers to modern-day Russians, hence Rus at the beginning of it. Russians are Slavic, they are not related to Scandinavians. The vikings just ruled the area for a while, but they're not related.

The plot of the album is about a group of vikings who are traveling to Constantinople.

Yep, the song at the end is .. supposed to be "Ochi Chornye" (wich means "black/dark eyes" in Russian) I'm not Russian, but I don't think he knows the lyrics very well tho :D

And as for the Russian derriving from the Finno-Ugric family .. please, don't be ridiculous, it's a Slavic language. Do you want to say then that the other slavic languages derrive from the Finno-Ugric family as well?
