I find it fascinating that people are always fooled by the artistic aspect of a movie. This is one of the worst movies ever made, but because it's "artistically relevant" it's good all of a sudden and everyone who sais it's bad doesn't know what it "means".

Laughable indeed... especially for the director. He's got YOUR money. Double-fooled.

Welz is literally the best horror director around. 'Calvaire' and 'Vinyan' are two of the most disturbing, subtle and challenging modern horror films ever made. he is not for evryone as he leaves you with more questions than answers, which some people find frustrating, but this is to his credit. I look forward to his next film.

I just watched the dvd, for mother's day since it has a mom & dad looking for their kidnapped white son. Filmed in Burma / Thailand, the scenery is superb, the island peeps who were theoretically trying to help find the kid were questionable, at best, in terms of their motives. Kinda slow moving at times, but at others, quite surprisingly suspenseful. The ending was a shocker, as only the French / Belgiques are able to do it. It is NOT for the faint off heart / stomach / intestines.

This movie was boring. Everything is so slow. I think during half of the movie he is running after his wife. it's like "oh god, there she run away again..." and we're up for 5 minutes of useless scene. And when they get to the village, it's over, you can't understand anymore. You are always waiting for things to happen but there is just nothing. As the spectator you don't know what the hell the caracters are doing or what the hell is going on.

this is a thriller, a horror, a "how far will you go to protect your family" movie...... GREAT MOVIE, saw it, kept me on the edge of my seat, good stuff

this movie was beautifully shot, it really is on par with apocalypse now as far as jungle scenes if not better. The plot or story however made me feel like i was missing out on something. Perhaps it was a Cultural gap? somethings were just really odd in an already odd movie. I guess you will have to see it for yourself.

I want to see this. It looks like it has great imagery (something lacking in cookie cutter hollywood horror films) and that emotional connection. BD said most horror fans won't like it and that's probably because it doesn't have chainsaws, killer clowns, and Bruce Campbell. You know, things that are overused.
