Great picture of Steve and shimmering water in the background on this album cover! Looks like he's getting blissfully plastered with a pina colada! He had already split with his 'Defector' band line-up at this point. Pete Hicks was such a great singer in that era.
Nice to see, hear some footage from this era of Steve's. Wonderful to see the amazing Ian Mosley 'the cat' on drums ( trade mark triplet fills and high hat snaps). He joined Marillion not long after his stint with Steve.
like the end of an utopia set. ....and then todd says thank you ...good nite , and on the keys it's our very own ROGER POWELL ....thank you.......johnkirk4 .....you are not a alone. now everytime i listen to thee end , i think of that
OK, Steve wrote some questionable material (small % overall, come on!) and the cool instrumental vamp at 2:15 makes this song, but it always SOUNDS cool!
It's NOT CHIPs music eartopsy, get out. I agree with mucodyne2, Hackett's "cheap pop".
I can take this over anything on "till we have faces"
Hehe..."questionable material". I know what you mean, but I wouldn't call anything he has done "cheap" - that's too harsh. It's just catchy pop. He hasn't made one bad album. I think I also would prefer Cured over Till we have faces. The latter is uneven, but there is good stuff in it. I like "taking the easy way out".
I love HACKETT but this sounds like background music from CHiP's. I can see Ponch waterskiing, skydiving, rollerblading, whatever. This was a good tour though (I saw it in LA Nov '81). I'd love to see / hear some Tigermoth, Slogans or Ace Of Wands from this era. MAGNUS RULES - Hackett needs him back!
Thanks for bringing so rare footage.Even here you can hear progressive moments!Steve Hackett is the only one who plays progressive(among Genesis members)

Wow...from 3:45 to the end I would swear this is the ending to a Todd song. Uncanny.

Sounds like Todd Rundgren.

Cured was Hackett's most poppish album, but I will listen to that one over any others any day!

If I remember correctly, Magnus wrote the lyrics for this one. Nonetheless, great song

I like Hackett's cheap pop.
This sound's space and jolting are miraculous.

I saw the Roxy shows too - still have the tshirt I bought there!
Was that where he said Nick magnus had the most "arresting" outfit (he was dressed as a Sheriff)?

I agree with you 100% but when it comes to Hackett I'll forgive a thing or 2. In that album there's Cradle Of Swans so it's still a good album.
