There are lots of good west coast swing clubs up here in St.Louis as well as a younger crowd who I call "The Lindy Kids" that do a lot of Lindy Hop at places like the Casa Loma, but I haven't heard anyone planning a flash mob around here. I love the all ages aspect as well as the mix of old and new music.

@tzione Just for clarification (not to disagree with you) but as a lindy hopper, I have danced with PLENTY of modern songs that you would not even think works with swing. I actually have danced to this song. We have fun and can be funky too. There is a difference in styles, but the music can be the same.

If you watch the footwork and count it, it is NOT the Hustle and I am old enough to not only remember it, but danced it! Nor is it being danced "country" style as I do that as well. Thankfully C/W has evolved to dancing WCS more in the true manner it is supposed to be danced and not so heavy as in years past! This is a great fairly simple routine for any dancer to learn and is fun as well. Lisa and Damon did a wonderful job and it is spreading throughout the country.

The people with all their negative comments are scared immature people and are jealous that they could not pull off something as great as this. Great job Lisa and Damon. Notice to all the complainers: No cards or advertising were passed out at the Flash Mob. No advertising was done during the event. Everyone was invited. Anybody could have claimed a piece of the action. Anybody could have shot videos or taken pictures.This event was a huge success. It has surpassed negativity and put smiles on lots of WCS dancers and mall shoppers. Houston is still a fabuous dance community despite some sour grapes from people threatened by success.

I wish I lived in Houston, but I am only a visitor here.  I find the dancers to be the friendliest and most welcoming of any city in which I have danced. And Damon and Lisa? They are the best of the best in that regard. Flash mob was an all inclusive flash of genius. There should be no controversy here. it's private enterprise at work.

I'll be sorry to leave and will miss the entire dance community here.

Everyone was thrilled to do the flash mob, you bet. A fun, great idea. But, I hate to break it to ya, phchapman1, there were so very many of us who were out there who had NO idea that the flash mob would be used for financial gain by the D'Amico's...a lot of people truly bought their 'promote WCS' line...only after everyone came out to support WCS did 'D'Amico Dance' start creeping in. So disappointing.

I wonder if all those dancers from studios all over Houston would have shown up if they knew they would be used to promote the D'Amico's new dance studio & not WCS in general. No mention of BAWDC, Time to Dance, SWWC, Melody Club, Dance Factory, etc. Without dancers from those clubs who believed they were promoting all WCS, this would be like other swing flash mob videos--much smaller crowd. SUCH a great idea & this video *COULD* have done the right thing for WCS everywhere.
