It feels like the greatest rock band of all time, minus its drummer - the greatest drummer of all time in John Bonham - and minus its lead vocalist - the greatest lead vocalist of all time in Mr Plant - is being sold short by a bunch of Yank wannabes who hold the candle but just don't share the talent. Led Zepp were Led Zepp, there's no doubting that, but I don't think you can call Grohl and Hawkins Yank wannabes. Foo Fighters are ridiculously successful and I think Nirvana would disapprove of anybody calling Grohl a wannabe. It'd also seem from other videos of seen and the genuine happiness at getting to play with two members from Grohl's (I don't know about Hawkins') favourite bands of all time that the pair of them are genuine, nice guys.

No disrespect taken. I know I'm a bit too conservative when it comes to these kinds of comparisons. For the record, though, I love the Foos very nearly as much as I love the Zep. This thing was a just a bit disconcerting if you know what I mean. The Foos are genuine inheritors (there are lots of pretenders), although the awesome Mr Grohl tries a bit too hard sometimes. He doesn't need to!
