  • only 200K views? shitty i wish it had more; a great intro to atheism lol

  • Lol...One day showing this to my mum...ohhh JOY XD (christian family background)

  • Oh good, the video is mirrored! Now i have to flip my monitor around. :S

  • I love the way that people with "bad" backgrounds like drug abuse, meeting prostitutes etc. turn to christianity and use their background to somehow boost their ego, and make them feel more superior to others.

  • 28 people are either religious or like things to be the right way around.

  • I have met Satanist and they aren't bad people.Maybe there are some crazy people who claim to be satanist but all the ones i have met were very nice and didn't believe in harming others.

  • you start disputin my god and you got a problem

  • EVERYTHING IS THE WRONG WAY AROUND

  • Why is it backwards?

  • Hell is real; it's a town in Michigan.

  • Thanks for uploading. I was going to rent the DVD but Maher decided to be a bitch and support SOPA so I'm going to watch it on the Internet instead. ;p

  • I love this guy for making this.

  • personally i think Faith is important.... religion is a farce

  • @TheMorges1 what is faith? I've never heard an answer that satisfies me.

  • @nkelly1432 what do you think faith is? It's not something you'll want to wait to hear an answer for, because everyone's definitions are going to be different, and nothing anyone tells you about faith will satisfy you fully.

Faith sets people free. That's my definition... in short anyway.

  • @100Arcansas so it's just an emotion, or a mix of different emotions

  • @nkelly1432 I don't think so. If faith was an emotion, it wouldn't set people free. Grudges are based on emotion rather than reason - people who hold grudges are not free, constrained by emotion. Christians who say that their religion is the one and ONLY religion aren't free, they're constrained by prejudice. They say that God will strike you down, they're constrained by fear. I don't know how else to explain it.

  • @100Arcansas Faith needs to stamped out and replaced with reason. Reason is the opposite of faith. Faith is the enemy of progress.

  • @nkelly1432 I'm not sure if I understand that, but in my experience, reasons are what allow people to have faith. If you don't believe in something, you're not free. But don't misinterpret that. Christians who say that "God shames you, you filthy atheist", don't have faith, they have fear and a selfish desire to survive. That's what Bill Maher is trying to get at. If you have REAL faith, you have faith because it makes you a better person and because you have reasons and believe in their logic.

  • @100Arcansas Reason as in not basing all of your choices on blind faith is what he means. People need to be logical if humanity is to survive. I bet if I could sit down and chat with an open-minded religious person, I could make them agnostic. That's what we need is more agnosticism. Poeple need to realize that there IS no proof and have to get on with their day.

  • @AllCanadiaReject Ok, I understand that. I don't trust in my own faiths too much either. I think more about the idea that democracy is a force for freedom and that everyone is entitled to think what they will... but you know that there aren't too many open-minded religious people out there. And yes we do need more agnosticism, but I think it's also that people need to start seeing the world for what it really is in every way - economically, politically, socially.

  • @100Arcansas Agreed. But please don't start getting liberal with the word freedom. People can be just as free under a monarch or autocrat.

  • @AllCanadiaReject And the sad thing is that most people hate to be logical. Too much thinking for some, too much pain to change for others, for whatever reasons.

  • @nkelly1432 It's too easily mistaken with fear or dictatorial oppression, I think. Faith is enemy to nothing - not reasons, not progress, not emotion - if applied correctly. But so many people can't apply it. If I were Christian and I actually had FAITH I would say: "Come join our religion, I THINK it would be good for you, this is MY OPINION" and you say "No thanks" and I say "Certainly, you are free to follow your own path". THAT is faith: it's handing out the power to choose, and many more.

  • @nkelly1432 confidence and trust if you ask me. Faith in a person is the same as faith in a god. I just hope we don't lose faith in people

  • I have to say, Maher has good taste in music, excellent documentary. Thanks for the upload. :)

  • We claim to be intelligent and yet we allow religious people to run Countries. If you can honestly believe in any form of religion then you should be locked up in the nut house with all those other people that hear voices in their heads. It makes me sick how fellow man can be so retarded.

  • @Melkbeats We claim to be intelligent and yet we allow the WRONG kind of religious people to run countries. The kind who would watch Stalin kill his own people and yet still say he was a great man. But not everyone in religion is like that. Relax, son.

  • why are the words backword

  • i agree with this material but its pretty boring

  • right on Bill!

  • personally im not religious but the way i see it the bible, although real or fake, should be looked at as something to base your life of off. Jesus was a cool guy. He had a good idea on how we should all treat each other.

  • @Elecktricd00m yet evangelical conservatives in the US government support the killing of hundreds of thousands of Middle easterners.

Christianity is nothing but blind, scared, hypocrisy.

  • @arf900 i have nothing against christians. they have their right to believe. and as a soilder i know my government does some things that are not quote unquote right but war is an evil of the human condition. nothing more. and in these scary times you gotta believe in something.

  • I'm not religious at all but I don't think that its a bad thing. If people want to believe than thats their business. Bill wants people to leave athiests alone yet he does the same to believers. It doesn't seem fair

  • @chriscoad22 that's what i've been trying to say. he's being hypocritical. people can believe in anything they want to or not believe in anything at all. it's their business but don't go making fun of people's beliefs if you don't want people making fun of what you believe in.

  • @cche16 Freedom of speech, let people discuss, debate, question and mock, along with other fun stuff...If you start saying "dont go making fun" - you basically say we cannot have comedians...I hope u aren't suggesting that...because that would be a boring world to live in, xD

  • These are carefully picked targets. I mean the senator literally called himself an idiot!

Why not pick people that are at least smart enough to understand the real problem... stupidity.

Anyone else notice how prejudice and stereotypical the man is? He blamed RELIGION FOR POLLUTION! Really? it isn't fucking money and personal desires that are fucking up the world? Its religion? Please, Bill. I know you hate me, but respect me...

  • @Jgem64 Since when religious people started to understand what "Respect" means?

  • My mind is slightly fucked while I watch these flipped videos (operation which sure prevents them to be filtered out)

  • My brain can't comprehend how someone can be religious...especially creationism

  • According the Richard Dawkins, Bill Maher would classify as a bright:) Damn straight

  • @xtianssk I would say that for any fundamentalist religous person, it's not just christians...

  • Try to read this backwards, Mr. Director!

  • i bet bill would hate that this is on here

  • @Jellowlink he would. i saw him on his show the other day complaing about people illegally DLing it

  • I'm a christian.

    And I love this movie.

I don't agree with Bill 100% but whats important is he doesn't blindly follow faith.

  • catholics don't believe they're drinking the blood of a 1000 year old man. what they're drinking, the blood of christ, or the blood of wine, is a symbol of the blood jesus christ. we don't actually believe we're drinking jesus' blood. i mean, that's just fucking stupid. get your facts right bill "thinks he knows it all" maher.

  • @cche16 The problem is that you don't know your own religion. Catholic doctrine teaches that it is the blood of Jesus, and not a symbol. I was a catholic for sixteen years. If you want to believe that it's a symbol, do what you want. But catholics are expected to believe it is actually the flesh and blood of Jesus.

  • @luigiman425 but we obviously don't really believe it's the blood because we know that's impossible. i see it jesus' blood as a symbol not actually his blood. it's common sense.

  • @cche16 Why do you say "obviously?" It's such a loose word. To me it is obvious that there is not an invisible man in the sky. And it is obvious that a man didn't get on a boat for forty days with two of every species. Yet these things are not obvious to you. But once again i will say that it is supposed to be regarded as jesus blood. It is not a symbol. Ask any priest or bishop and they will tell you. It is not supposed to be a symbol, it is taught that it is jesus blood.

  • @luigiman425 well that's not what my priest says! guess everyone else does it differently. i was taught that the wine and the holy bread (Eucharist) represents Jesus' blood and body not his actual body. i don't see it the way many other Christians do. i'm christian but i don't believe some of the stories of the bible because they sound impossible. this is my thought. if no one likes it then just ignore it and move on.

  • @cche16 So you're a Christian but you don't believe stories in the bible? So you're not really a Christian are you because you either believe it or you don't. I think you was dropped on the head too much as a child.

  • @Melkbeats I-G-N-O-R-E A-N-D M-O-V-E O-N. what part did you not get? maybe i wasn't the one dropped on my head... everyone is entitled to believe in what they want & express their beliefs & opinions. you don't like what i say, don't comment.

  • @cche16 LOL A CATHOLIC CALLING BILL MAHER STUPID. Bro, you're CATHOLIC. should I say more?

  • @BrandonAshbySmith you need to learn to read. i didn't say he was stupid, i said what he said was stupid. get your facts right. thanks.

  • @BrandonAshbySmith ...rofl...my new favourite comment XD

  • @cche16 talking snakes...

  • @Travaillons

you need to get better at identifying trolls.

  • Yes, religion is terrible, let us all bask in our self-satifaction that nothing beyond our own understanding could exist and nothing good comes out of religion ever >_>

  • @jmcieslak0 No one said that "nothing beyond our own understand" could not exist. However, the religions of the current world are simply ridiculous. Also, not many would say that nothing good ever comes from religion. However, many would say that religion is unnecessary. It's not terrible, just somewhat useless.

  • @Travaillons I wouldn't say religion is useless - or detrimental, as Bill labels it - at all. From my experience, religion (I'm speaking more about Christianity, as a Christian) can influence people to do great things, out of love for God and for others, and can improve their quality of life as well as the quality of life of others around them.

  • @jmcieslak0 Yes, that does happen. But then religion also motivates people to do bad things...out of love for God. Terrible things happen when people justify terrible actions with the thought that they're simply following God's will.

  • @jmcieslak0 Religion in a nutshell to you - does SOME good, Religion in a nutshell to me = war, rape, inequality, homophobia, denial, racism, torture, murder...do i need to go on?

  • @MishuTaste

shut your fucking piehole before satan puts his red meat in your fartbox!

  • @youthank8 It doesn't even matter if you're religious. You just set a terrible standard for people in general. He said that "people should be respected no matter what they believe in" , and you hate him for that? Not only that, but you don't provide any reason for your disagreement, and compensate with lots of utter drivel that you probably think makes you sound tough.

I'm just saying, it doesn't work over the internet.

  • Comment removed

  • i need to own.... store it somewhere, watch it every once in a while....

  • That guy wasn't a satanic priest. Why do they always make up stuff like that?

  • @cythisgood How else do you expect them to defend something made up...but with other made up things?

  • Bill comes off as a loser. His outlook on life is like that of a drug-dealing womanizer?

  • @parkerjwill let me guess ur a reiligous fag shut ya face an go suck off jesus

  • Bill, I respect your beliefs and I can sympathize with you 'cause I grew up Catholic and hated going to church, but please don't disrespect others who believe and act rude in their houses of worship.

  • @MishuTaste Why should we respect religion?

  • @atheistram You don't have to. I'm just saying: people should be respected no matter what they believe in. If atheists want respect from religious people, they should be respectful. Bill Maher was being rude in a place of worship.

  • @MishuTaste Sorry, but ridiculous ideas deserve no respect.

  • @MishuTaste right on point

  • Religion is a collection of cultural systems, belief systems, and worldviews that establishes symbols that relate humanity to spirituality and, sometimes, to moral values.

  • 8:49 "You start disputing my god and you've got a problem" LMAO @ brainwashed hillbillys!!!!

  • Bojangles! Raleigh!

  • Maher could use a brain transplant...with a goat.

  • @ConservativeAnthem Christian eh? Yeah, enough said.............

  • Thank you for Annotations

  • god i love the song the seeker by the who favorite who song ever, also rush does a badass cover of this song

  • thank u 4 upload. ur a boss

  • Thanks for sharing (and cleverly bypassing the algorithm).

  • Slackjaw rednecks lol

"I eat fattening unhealthy food and drink poisonous intoxicating liquids that both are slowly killing me and on top of that I also worship a bearded cloud fairy theres no proof for"

Is what I heard from them

  • Atleast he didnt flip it upside down..

  • I got really confused in this movie and was like "Why are they all shaking with their left hands?" hahah

  • I've been all over youtube reading the attacks on Religion. And this documentary showcases all the crazy barbarism related to Religion. Atheists are convinced they know what's up. Religion is a delusion, that has handicapped humanity from progressing properly, right? They need to grow up. Religion has provided us with a lot of good things too. THE MUSIC! People getting together and singing with their souls to something Higher. Singing in a choir is the best experience I've had.

  • @983215ljhlkadbspig6y You can find secular music too you know. I LOVE music, but not one bit of it is religious. The point I'm making here is really that a lot of the good things you can get from religion (sense of belonging, purpose, enjoyment, etc) are not copyrighted by religion. You can get them elsewhere. And religion HAS led to terrible terrible things, in part or in whole. Its cliche, but we can't forget the crusades were people were KILLED over their diff. beliefs in an imaginary friend

  • @983215ljhlkadbspig6y Sure it did, along with that came the Crusaders, the Dark Ages, all the wars that are fought for Religious Purposes which is 80% of the wars that occured, religion has been great.

  • @983215ljhlkadbspig6y Ever had your own mother (christian) ask you "what's stopping me from killing you?"....There are alot of reasons why people (like me) deny the existence of deities. To me, the Bible teaches people mythology, stories fabricated by men, that somehow bind us for the "greater good" - FYI we do not require a church to come together and sing - there are gay community choirs too you know...ever heard what alot of religious people have to say about being gay?

  • Very imformative and interesting, everybody should watch (and I am Catholic). There is lots of magical and irrational belief, I must say it is predominant in religion, but not all catholics are like that or approve of that (you can see some in the video too).

One point: the immaculate conception is not the virginity of Mary, but the purity of her own conception, free from the original sin; it's purely a metaphysical concept, not physical, she was born from a sexual act between her parents.

  • i love how he used the seeker by the who for the opening song so fitting, "ive tried to find the key to fifty million fables"

  • I love Bill Maher's facial expressions.

  • 7:38, He can stand in there all day long an argue but you can't win a rational debate with a irrational person. I like how he proved that.

  • sorry but i comment while watching the video.... xP

it is funny but in many christian magazine atalaya for example, or any other media, people change from metal music, alcohol, women and drugs to a better life using the bible or by finding god... that example is the worse because there are worse people out there, killing, raping, making rap music, just kidding with the rap but come on, listening to metal music being a example of having a bad life????

  • i did read "woman, shall not use birth control pills" in the bible anywhere...

  • 4:10 Bill Maher kind of looks like Breckin Meyer from Road Trip.

  • best doco ever.. you the man Maher!

  • It may seem a bit harsh, but I think we need about 2 more generations to succesfully get rid of the bulk idiots in the world.

  • "I don't know the answer to that" I like how she said that, lol. She looked at him like it was ridiculous for him to expect her to know that kind of thing. Which is the right way to look at someone when they ask you about something you couldn't possibly know, IMO.

  • YOU START DISPEWTIN MAW GAWD

  • @GoblinsnHobbits Hahahahaha.

  • That man at 8:10 really didnt like the word penis at all.

  • Haha, thanks for adding the labels! But it gave me a little headache anyway, so I'm watching this in a mirror right now xD.

  • !emosewa os si rehaM lliB

  • sorry asshole you had the wrong religion. enjoy hell. buh bye.

  • I haven't watched all of the segments yet, but I appreciated some things Bill exposes and even appreciate the fact that he is willing to ask the questions instead of exercising a blind faith. I personally am a follower of Christ, he never asked us to be Christians, he always said "follow me". And I personally appreciated Bill saying the truck stop Chaplains were acting like Jesus instead of Christians. It is my desire Bill you find faith to believe in Jesus, but don't become a Christian alone.

  • @RSwanson1972 even the pantheist is making a truth claim about reality. you're saying that it's all god. i don't know how you're gonna go about proving that, but you're making the claim, so you have the burden of proof.

i don't need to say god doesn't exist to be atheist; i only need to not believe one does. i can't be certain, but there's nothing which has yet convinced me a god is present or necessary. if that evidence comes, i'm perfectly willing to change my mind.

  • After watching this Im beginning to believe more and more that its all the same, everything is everything.

  • why the FUCK is everything written backwards?!?!

  • @Lukeschedel <---To: I flipped the video and changed the pitch of the audio, so that YouTube algorithm doen't block it form being uploaded. Trust me. I've already tried.

  • @RSwanson1972 - Well thanks for posting it anyways!

  • Comment removed

  • @RSwanson1972 do you have any information on or know a link on what the youtube algortihm is? I'm interested.

  • @RSwanson1972 So does that mean that when Bill Maher is looking to the left he is actually looking to the right?

  • @evanserickson no its weird i have this on dvd and only the text is mirrored and the background

  • @RSwanson1972 youtube algorithm? wth is that?

  • @x0x0x0x0x0ful <--To: Algorithm is a process or set of rules to be followed in calculations or other problem-solving operations, esp. by a computer. In-other-words, YouTube checks all prior uploads (mathmatically done) to make sure that it doesn't match any copy-righted materials to prevent copy-righted infringments. A way around this is to mirror the video and change the audio pitch, before uploading. If not, then YouTube will reject your uploads. =)P

  • @RSwanson1972 well done sir.

  • @RSwanson1972 Nice job!

  • @Lukeschedel

Next time just say, "Thanks for the upload!"

  • Comment removed

  • @Lukeschedel Hebrew reads right to left.

  • @Lukeschedel Tis the work of the devil! :O

  • @bob2me2002 BLASPHEMY!

  • am i supposed to watch this in a mirror or was that the directors intention as a device to provoke reflection? i'm sure this is a splendid documentary but i'm also prone to OCD and this is freaking me out

  • I don't need the promise of heaven to see the favour in good deeds.

  • This is an excellent movie I recommend it. though many religious people might be offended. I think it is good to ask questions, and to think for yourself when you what you are being taught is explained as the truth.

  • One of my favorite questions to answer: "What if I'm right and you're wrong?"

  • @RSwanson1972 Thank you for going to the trouble of posting & then reposting these. Great stuff.

  • LMAO, the guy in the red shirt. Sounds like he's more afraid of Bill Maher changing his mind than Bill is.

  • At least they weren't racist.

  • Well Mr Overweight Red Shirt if your going to make extraordinary claims without a shred of fact or evidence then expect sane logical people to be doing a lot of judging and disputing.

  • So many freaky people in the world, is not surprise mankind have and cause so many problems, including nature, thanks to a "god" created by men. Without "god" it wouldn't be any sin, no wrongdoing, no one to pray to, just our holly existence to enjoy, a life to live. The question is how we can rescue people from the spell. What happens out there is not religiosity but slavery. During our lifetime we watch the exploration of man by man, politicians, priests, all sort of undeclared criminals.

  • Thank you for uploading and putting up the annotations! (:

  • This fat ignorant fuck in the red shirt is a perfect example of why these goddamn MORONS should not be allowed to vote.

  • that guy clearly forgot god's meant to be omniscient. if Christians are right all his sucking up will be for nought

  • Comment removed

  • @IGaveMyNameToThatGuy Yeah, a good Christian says 'my god is a combo breaker, and beats everything you're ever gonna say!' But hey, I can ask things like why the hell is their god a freakin' anthropomorphized Freudian father figure. Did you also know the oldest texts of the bible during the days of Babylon had the funniest texts on taboos of masturbation? Apparently the life essence of the ejaculate that does not go in a woman's body becomes ghosts and demonic spirits. Wooooooo so scary!!!

  • @shoulderkolibri ...okay, I'd say you replied to the wrong comment as that has nothing to do with what I said but your reply follows the typical structure of the ramblings of a madman so I'm just going to smmile and nod while slowly backing away

  • Interesting film wether you are a believer or not!

  • Bible-thumping fundamentalists and atheists who reject the Bible have this in common: both prefer to focus on the worst elements of scripture; the former to promote it, the latter to refute it. Neither is interested in what is best in the Bible; both dismiss the passages of breathtaking profundity which rival anything our world has to offer. Cruelty and stupidity abound in all fields, yet atheists reject religion by focusing on its worst adherents, and zealots reject atheism by doing the same.

  • "Female blood with a male figure" - lolwut?

  • "I was a satanist priest"=Full of shit.

  • one day all the religious people are gonna come out and say ahhhh gotcha! we werent serious duh none of it makes any sense whatsoever we know that haha jokes on you we were kidding!!!!!.... i cant wait til this day comes

  • Thanks for posting this RSwanson, I will get you ALL the eggs and bacon.

  • What is the moral of all this: Guys if you believe in something don't wait for someone to advertise your belief, you know yourself and why you believe it, despite if it is "crazy" like Bill says or actually right, of course everyone thinks that they themselves are right, hard to get past that >.<

  • That picture of the special corner was in the dome of the rock, you can make sure by looking at it's walls with the golden writing (like a banner), when the man was spreading his hand in the direction in front of the green door, he was in Al-Aqsa, the guys mouth didn't show so I couldn't tell if he was actually saying what we heard on the audio, and he was not pointing at that women in the next scene, because she is in the dome of the rock >.<

  • Another thing, when he was asking about women in the mosque and the guy answered a "special corner" is given to them, with that camera shot, I laughed my head off, that was so dramatic >.<, in islam men pray in a separate place from women so that men on explanation is that men don't go looking at women's behinds while they are praying lol, there is a special place for women to pray, it's in the mosque with the golden dome(the dome of the rock) and men pray in Al-Aqsa mosque(with the grey dome)

  • What tipped this guy off from my perspective, in part 9 is the translation when the guy was talking about tolerance to people of other religions to be in the mosque, the guy was saying:" we never walked like this, the managers usually give us five minutes" I really don't know what he meant about that because there are some pauses and missing scenes. And the translation is wrong, and I am 100% sure that this guy doesn't know Bill Maher's show, I don't even know it,I just found out about him today

  • If I was him, I would chose to speak to speak to people who know what they are talking about, people who are experts, and show these interviews with no cuts to give credibility of what I am presenting, after doing this as well as other things to give credibility to my work, and get the result I "expected" without this expectation influencing my work, I would stand in front of the whole world and say I am right

  • Now about this video, from what I see while I am on my chair in front of my computer, is a man who is selectively choosing people to talk to, after that he is selectively choosing what interviews to view, and after that he is selectively choosing what scenes to show in each interview in the order he wishes to view. His sample is not representative, he did not enter this search to just show what is there, he entered to prove that he is right, which makes him biased since he is an imperfect human

  • Alright, last year I watched some videos about Stephen Hawkings discoveries about the big bang, and I was thrilled when I saw how they managed to predict what happened in the first few microseconds as the big bang was occurring, but then he mentioned something, it was called the singularity when time equals zero, that means everything for the big bang to occur is there but it is just standing by. He also said that in order for the big bang to exit its stand by phase an external even must occur.

  • Obtaining a complete population for your research is impossible to achieve so as humans we try another plausible method which is sampling. Now what is the problem in sampling, is that it is not equal to the population. As human researchers we try to obtain sample that is representative of the whole population, so if you get a result you could say with a good degree of certainty that my results reflect the whole population (even though I didn't test every single individual or event)

  • Now lets talk about some fundamentals of statistics (I just took a course last week), when someone is searching for a phenomenon trying to disapprove or prove something that person must assume I know nothing and I will look for the answer (to nullify bias), when you want to start your research you have to obtain a population, a population in the context of statics means every single subject that has the variable you are researching must be accounted for

  • Hi guys, I am a Muslim, and I am also I human being, I am not perfect, if someone hits me hard I may cry, if that same person hits me again, I may say stop, if that same person keeps hitting me, I might blow a fuse and hit him back.

This person who is hitting me is very smart, that person picks a moment to hit me when no one is looking, once I couldn't take it I hit back, and I hit back really really hard, but I wasn't as smart as this person, I hit when everyone was looking and got scolded :(

  • "I think you know Mr. Cohen..."

  • Are they sitting in a church?!

  • @maphitha, can I have the book and verse please, I don't remember the bible saying your burned up and thats it. I remember seeing it say that people in hell are tormented day and night, forever and ever.

  • Bill Maher will be in a very bad part of hell. He will be nailed to a cross and tormented day and night by fire and demons. He will have great shame.

  • @CHASEDONKYFISH The Bible says the wicked will be burnt up, not tortured for eternity.
