hi walt...im 30yrs old...i truly appreciate ur simplicity on teaching way of understanding and reading music ..esp. my interest is on guitar..as a 24hr caregiver..im pleased to be able to learn guitar right now little by little everyday ..no need to enroll to any guitar class at all hir in my community...its true in life that there is no age for learning as long there is willingness of the spirit..again..thank u for ur upload and keep up that good work bro...
thank you buddy that helped.talk about optimism.YOU encourage me .i actually have hope in learning notes and chords on a guitar which i didnt15 minutes ago.THANK YOU.
i just want to say thank you so much! you made everything so crystal clear. my mom bought me a guitar for christmas and I just about gave up on trying to learn. I know zero about music and have been looking all over the place for someone or some website to teach me how to read, understand, and play music. Thank you for your videos and website. you are wonderful!
hey can anybody help me here?? pls: is like this : from first fret : is 1 :e 2: f 3:f# 4:g 5:g# 6:a 7 :a# 8:b 9:c 10:c# 11:e# 12:e??? is this corecct ??? if not can you pls reply and say the corecct one .. (im sorry but im from romania and i dont understand well english pronution letters)
i donnot care about ernie all . i can easily remember by this . ignore the two E . and Boy Girl Doctor apple . but when it forms into sentece : Boy Girl doctor ask to eart APPLE .
Trying to read sheet music but don't understand how to play a note on the guitar when there is a CIII or CVIII above the staff. For example, where would I play a G note with CIII above it?
Thank you very much for this video! The way you show it will help me save a lot of time when I start my sight reading exercises. But one question: the notes on a guitar are played on octave lower than they are on a piano, right? So instead of 'Middle C' being 5th string 3rd fret, it would be the 2nd string 1st fret, right? Thanks again.
Nevermind. i found an online chart of the notes..on a guitar i was just confused on which were able to be "sharp" like C# ect...i didn't get that..kinda get it now...time for practice that..hehe
Hey there W i saw the "how to watch my videos in order" and i find them inspiring....but i have one question....im a alittle sketchy on the "Note on Guitar" vid..i understand the 5th and 12th but i don't see how you find out the sequence you have. could you please explain or give me a link to a better....umm...intro to the basics of music...since on that video it's kind of a jump start ...and Guitar is my fav instrument..just re bought the string i broke and im playing again. Thanks Chainy.
Go to my videos/charts page on my website. Link in video desciption. Its an online tutorial class IN ORDER. Like an online school! You can do it Cooldude!

Beginning with open string, E open, 1st fret, F, 2nd, F#, 3rd - G, 4th, G#, 5th - A, 6th - A#, 7th - B, 8th - C, 9th - C#, 10th - D, 11th - D#, and at the 12thy everything repeats itself an octave higher.

what dose octave mean and how do i recognize them
drifter9514 2 years ago
it means you o up or down by twelve notes so from an open E to the 12 fret (E)that is one octave so every 12 notes is one octave

Email me. I'm confused - can I see the sheet music?
waltribeiro 3 years ago
that is an octave higher. say that you have a low e on guitar that would mean playing it one octave higher

Heres the memory trick I used to remember the open strings. (Don't take the phrase wordplay literal. It's what works for me)
Open Strings or the twelfth fret: "Every Army Denounces God Before Encounter"
and for the 5th fret I found this one
5th: "Adam Didn't Get Caught Eating Apples"

Works for me!

is each dot on the guitar a regular note?
darkeryche 3 years ago
the dots are called fret markers. They simply tell you what number fret your on.. So for example the double dot means the 12th fret :)
