@shittybullshit more like the transition from MA to ACSS, the albums have a concept running behind then starting with HW, sequeled by MA and ending with ACSS.
@SatanFang I'm aware of that. I meant the transition for the band (Fashion, imagery, sound) not storywise. Still I prefer to take each album on it's own rather than a complete story. I know Manson stated they're all one story but I prefer to focus on each album individually since they're all genius in their own way and each have their own personality :)
This video here is the instigator of hatred and disgusting sexual arousal for this we will block it for a couple of states I and my associates are going to stop this nonsense before it could go any further (parental guidance) team thanks you and wishes you an enjoyable watch to these sections, rather than this gore scenes.
The wikipedia article on the character Major Tom states that this song bears a passing reference to him. I'm a great Manson fan but I can't find said reference anywhere in the lyrics... Is the Wikipedia eds being retards again?
' I've got something you can never eat ' refer to the real apple of Sodom which when bitten turns to dust like cotton candy, made by God because of the sodomites.
Yeah, it's friggin' similar to Stinkfist by tool! but I always see those similarities like a sort of artistical bond between cool artists from Los Angeles.
As far as I'm concerned I've never seen art cooler than art from California.
And I'm from Italy, Italy was cool a pair of centuries ago, kinda sad nowadays
in response to EnlightenmentANAVRIN's question, it only appeared on the soundtrack to David Lynch's Lost Highway, which is a great soundtrack by the way, all of you should check it out.
@Squidpus Another thing: the video is reminiscent of some TOOL videos, which I like. Here's to hoping that Reznor and Manson reconcile, decide to work together again, and have Maynard join the mix for Tapeworm part 2.
@Squidpus Absolutely, lot of STINKFIST there indeed. Manson apparently ripped off a lot of tool imagery, say the iron-jaws dentist mechanism of the "Beautiful People" video directly taken from a Maynard photo of the UNDERTOW album.
Cool to see some never-before-seen stuff from the ACSS era. His most admirable work, no doubt.
Don't like the post-Mechanical Manson a bit, though.
@chemudas it's debatable. i like the intelligence, to the heavy. granted i don't really like EMDM, it still has some ironic lyrics. that and portrait. sorry but i'm not much of a fan of that one... though i'd pick that over depression any time.
as for the tool imagery, i love both bands, but hell, it's at least nice to see different use of art. i still can't say it's ripped off, sometimes, irony happens. but i won't decline either
@chemudas aside from that... it seems maynard took this video idea and brought it to Schism... don't you think? i mean, bald, fucked up person (people) tearing of the body (3:42)... hmmmmm........
Amazing job Joseph! I've seen all the Manson Videos I thought... Where the hell has this been all this time? 10 years? Really? You have no idea how happy I am to see it. Thank You!!!
This is like a mix between Antichrist Svperstar, MA, & Holy Wood. It's got the evil & creepy sound of ACSS, the lyrical style of MA (If you think about it), & Holy Wood's subtle rhyhms. BTW can anyone tell me what this song is about?
2- I've been wanting to j/o to a good picture of manson with boobs for years. Thanks for making my warped dream a reality. hahahaha
3- No, but really... I would agree with the fact that manson is no longer at his peak. But from what I've seen, he at least hasn't really sold out yet. I think he's still trying to say something with his music. It's just that trying to compete with some of his earlier stuff is an epic task--even for him.
i was such a die hard manson fan but i dunno.... after twiggy left... after tori amos brought me a little clarity and my ears tuned to different tastes i chucked the black lip stick n got on with it. saw him live GAOG tour... Not a very interesting video. Maybe that's why I've never seen it before today. I love the song. I loved Lost Highway as well. I could see Manson being disappointed by this video and not wanting it to air. :P
@jonquil4000 these were never used as a fetish, the medical devices were a point of how the medical industry runs things, the restraints represent being kept bound, silent, stripped from your freedom of speech. His music was never about fetishes but about things that are wrong with cooperate america.
God, Maddy922 and headcase696's interpretation of Marilyn Manson makes me sick. Stop sugar coating him and making him seem 'sweet' and 'caring', what are you., 12? Ugh.
@LeonJordison Ok I removed my comment. Good that you brought it to my attention. I would have kept the comment if I didn't see that it was on Joseph Cultice's page. The director of this video. I'm not a big fan of it but it's a work of art nonetheless.
@LeonJordison I find MM to be one of the smartest entertainers out there and he has made some great music. But I like to have a distance to his music because it is pretty negative and I'm not so sure how safe it is. Besides, while I think it takes a great talent to produce the art that he has, I heard that he is lacking in other faculties of intelligence since someone I know met him and were disappointed. I think MM has let the drugs get to him.
Thank god you understand, I'm too tired too deal with a Manson hater lol.
Anyway, yes, I can see your point as to why one would think they'd need to do that, but you can't look at it in that sense. I look at it in a positive sense,, like, I.E. Fight Song, I don't look at it as a F U to Christians, I look at it as a "You know what, I'm going to be my own person!" Kind of thing. Manson even says he want's people to listen to it that way, not in a bad way.
Na, I used to think that too, but after doing a little more 'research', I've noticed (This is my opinion) that he's trying too hard. Shit, even my Mum agrees with me on this. You know how in 96' He'd of made some degrading claim towards a Christian that made them look like a jackass while making him look smart.
Now he says stuff like "If you say you'll love me till the day we die, and you change your mind, run". I mean, how ignorant does that sound? He's TRYING to be Marilyn Manson now, and it's failing, miserably unfortunately.
@LeonJordison i see your point, but as you and i should both know, he was pissed. im sure if you were put in a similar situation, youd probably say the same thing. well, thinking of a gf that broke up with you, gave you one more chance, you accepted cuz she "loved" you, but then decided she didnt, youd be pretty pissed, right? plus he back with eva (i think her name is) and getting/is married, and there's some re-inspiration of bowie... his last (high end) was johnny cash
Well yeah, I can see that. But it seems like Manson, being the genius he is, (no sarcasm), prolly just turned that situation in his life into music. So I guess I see your point. But I'd make angry music, not depressed music lol. And na, the last album, THEOL was inspired by Goon Moon because that's the band Twiggy joined when he left, so he brought back the Western/southern influences Manson had when John 5 was in the band not too long ago.
I had a dream or maybe it was a nightmare, im not sure..I woke up and saw twhat i was dreaming about or mayby its all backwards.. Lost highways is a good movie, "I recommand it", it said.....
omg! I'd love to get the book! I haven't seen Long Hard Road Out of Hell anywhere though...I saw it once with my mm and she was like "No way are you getting that!" :(
It was recorded in 1998, but neither Interscope Records nor Nothing records would let him release it. Since Nothing let him go, we get to see everything Manson wasn't allowed to do. He is free of restraints. Why do you think he used dollar bill symbols in the shape of a swastika on his last album? That is all that they cared about, Mr. Manson doesn't care about a priced piece of plastic in a store, he cares about creating art, and doing and saying what he wants.
Yep I was 17 when this song originally came out a junior in high school... love the video and I think that is Manson dresed in drag in the video as the old lady
