I just bought a cockatiel the other day. He hasnt budged since we brought him home. He seems so sad. Then I played this video and he started chirping! Thank God for your little birdy.. He is precious.
your most welcome, we forgot to cover him one night & he was a quivering wreck in the morning. ps mine loves your little one's chirping he's looking over my shoulder now : )
Thank you, jools251. I was 99% positive that I was doing the right thing with their sleep schedule (covering and uncovering). Thanks for reiterating that bit of info.!
They DO need to be covered at night & petiteone67 is absolutely right. they need a sleep pattern like any living creature. we cover ours at 9.30pm & un-cover at 6am when we get up. this is very normal & healthy. it certainly does not give them negative feelings about his cage. happy ~ secure & tucked up in bed.
I've never heard of that before. I've had cockatiels for 20 yrs., and they've been covered at night (they are on a sleep schedule), and uncovered in the morning. I will ask my Vet about this...
You cover their cages. Your not supposed to do that becuase it gives them negative felings about their cage and it makes them fel like their trapped under a net
Wow i just played this to my cockatiel, we have only had him for 1 week and your video made my bird sing for the first time, i just want to thank your bird for making this happen :O)
Indeed he is... VERY vocal.
