I have been looking for such symphonic renditions of Rabindra Sangeet for quite a long time, and finally few months back I reached this link. I really loved the arrangement and now I am looking forward to more. There are lots of other Rabindra Sangeets which are based on western tunes, go very well with the symphony. I am not aware of any other efforts of such a rendition which was made earlier, except one. In Charulata - "Ami chini go chini tomare" was another masterpiece by Satyajit Ray.
Rabi thakurer gaan is about meaningful tunes that makes it different. A different song with symphony might have been more appropriate. Its meaning is impacted by this composition. Nice try though. Why can't you translate it into european languages and try it out with their instruments - that way you can send Rabi Thakurer massages to a larger audience. Guess Bengali s know enough now about Rabi Thakur. Its time you experiment taking his lingua to the world. My 2 cents!
@hhmondol . Thanks for your kind response. I am Abraham's wife, Madhusree. I conveyed your msg to him.
He is a teacher of Western Classical Music for last 30 years and presently we have formed Kolkata Music Academy to promote European Classical Music in India. His concept of making music is totaly different from others.. absolutely non commercial but its sad that our people hardly understand harmony. We shout.."ANTARJATIK RABINDRANATH"!! But we never understood what actually Tagore thought !!
i m now a bit more greedy..... 1) if the complete video could be uploaded.
2) this is the first time i find one Tagore song with such an arrangement.Even my mom was saying .."Besh darun laglo to".It is not only my mon but few of my friends who have always been miles away from Tagore songs because of its style of singing and ofcourse orchestration, they were also asking if the album is available. If possible a new album o'coz with Kolkata resources.
I will be very happy to witness any live performance by KMA. Are there any sort program is being held anywhere?
