  • Good video. Thanks.

  • @Demultiplexer Would the hardware be soldered to a board connected to the chip?

Altera: All you would need is a chip to drive the VGA signals out from the board and to interface with the display (LCD Controller IC). The Nios II Embedded Evaluation Kit, has a reference design that will help you to get started with who the end system can be architected.

  • @Demultiplexer How about choosing various graphics outputs such as standard VGA, or what if we wanted the chip to drive a whole new graphics system?

Altera: Altera’s programmable logic devices support many different IO standards. Please review the Nios II Embedded Evaluation Kit in the Altera website to evaluate the many options to build a whole new graphics system utilizing commercial off the shelf graphics acceleration from TES and Imagem.

  • @Demultiplexer

So are you saying that we can put two timers in the chip and maybe an 8-bit register or two, or whatever we like?

Altera: Depending on the availability of Logic in the programmable devices, it is possible to put these AND many other peripherals and build a custom fit solution.

  • He was running fractal on a 20$ FPGA???? Omg O_o

  • Fascinating!

  • Informative video 5/5
