I would love some plans and a parts list. I do my stuff the old fashioned way with hand tools. I should say feeding the work by hand and using templates, etc.
with building your own CNC what are some things to keep in mind with the motors
holding torque? Max RPM of motors? number of steps per full revolution? im lookign to build my own CNC by refitting a Unimat 1000 milling machine but am running into snags with all the numbers..ie Nema 34 vs Nema 23 step motors.400 steps vs 900 steps full revolution.1 vs 1.8 degree steps..any help is appreciated.
hi i am a carpenter and whant to build my own cnc router, ive seen a load 's of plans, machines and there all crap!! but now i have seen yours and its blown me away!! could you please tell me where did you get the plans from and how much their were many thanks future cnc builder
@fufufufufufu Well id like to cut out a custom body and route it for a rec. floyd bridge. Im not sure I could really do that. Id have to do it all by hand, basically carving the whole thing out.
I love your cnc! absolutely amazing. Is it possible to get your plans to this machine? I really want to try to build my own cnc as I cannot afford a factory built model. Please contact me if you are willing to share.
Very Nice! I just posted a video of my router. I may have to upgrade a few things after seeing your video. I have about $2000 tied up in mine, but it isn't as quick as yours. What is your work envelop? Mine is using 55" rails on X anY anf 12" on Z. I intend to use mine to make guitar bodies with students.
I see that you are driving the gantry in the X axis with a single ballscrew shaft mounted in the center underneath the table. Is there any problem with yaw (clockwise/counterclockwise rotation as viewed from above) of the gantry with that setup? Do you think it would have been better to drive it with a ball screw on each long side of the bed? Planning my own CNC plasma machine, so that's why I ask. Great vid by the way!
No problem with yaw (or crabbing), it depends on the spacing of the x axis carriages. Two screws can cause twice as many problems as one, not many commercial machines use two screws. If your building a plasma then you certainly wont need two screws as the load on the gantry is minimal.
Very good work. I have a CNC made out of wood and would like to make improvements to stiffen the structure. Is it possible to have all the structural drawings to build one like yours?
Yo, Nice machine and very impressive rapid speeds, I,ve just finished testing my motor's using mach3. What spec's are your pc to run the router, I,ve just added up the costs of finishing my machine using c5 ballscrews and hiwin linear rails and a can't see much change from £3000. Can you give us a rough idea of your total costs?
Just wondering what type of spindle you used i.e. acme with bronze bush or ballscrews also whats your picth of thread. What are your drivers microstepping?
This is awesome! Question, though: what did you use to program the mill? Did you do it with old-school G-Code, or did you use a CAD/CAM package, such as Solidworks and MasterCAM to generate the toolpaths? Or none of the above?
yourself? you must have a lot of free time. I work with cnc machines in Sweden so I know what you've benn through by building this equipment. Realy realy impressed. great
Great job with the CNC. A few questions. What kind of steppers are you using, and what materials did you use for the gantry? Thanks and great job again.
Steppers are Rex Industries RHT 640 from Homeshopcnc in the US. The gantry is steel box section 70x40x4, the uprights are 80x80x4 aluminium extrusion, I will replace these with steel at some point for increased rigidity.
