Hi. You're really good! I'm using this video as a guide to play this same solo for a Pit Orchestra audition for the musical at my school. :) your tone is amazing, and double tonguing was really good too! yo tambien soy lima - peru !!! :D me mude a los eeuu despues de 6to grado, pero tambien estoy decidiendo en derrepente estudiar musica :) Tocas hermoso! :)
Overall really well done. You have a wonderful career ahead of you! Might I suggest tapering the ends of your notes a little bit, like you are blowing out a match and watch that the endings of your phrases don't go flat.
I dont know if it'd be the same in other countries, but in the UK, grade 8 is the top musical exam grade. usually, people will do grade 1 to 8, then continue to study to diploma or degree level, and further. The grade exams are offered by the ARSBM, if you wanted any more detail :)
ABRSM Grade 8. It's actually under List B for the current syllabus, though I'd say it's a little bit more tricky in the beginning as compared to some of the other pieces in the list of the same grade.
Again... intonation. I love this piece and play it slightly slower than this interprtation. Sweet double tonguing, but you will find it much easier to stay in time with the piano if you let yourself move with the music a little.
I am playing this piece for an audition in the fall and I have become quite intrigued with it in the last few months. I like your tone very much, but intonation could have been better in spots, and I agree that the tempo should be upped a little. You also look very stiff up there, but great job overall!
haha anyways i thought you were out of tune in some places, esp. the high notes. it was really good in terms of technique. i thought you could show a little more than just dynamics.. use more musicianship! some body motion would help too.
pushing aside all the critiques, nice job! it makes me wanna play the piece again...
What a fantastic tone you have! Gorgeous, especially bar 36 was excellent (super high fast bit) and the double tonguing was really good too, it's so difficult to get out clear. A peine plus vite... Much too slow but beautifully played, soo expressive. Well done. Super.
Suppose some flute player is holding a concert, when you read the poster, will you note on the flute player (and the repertoir) or the acoompanist?
Nearly everyone knows karajan, however, who knows the abc violin player in 198x year, or the xyz double bass player in 199x year...don't be so foolish.
Indeed, open a concert of piano, others will notice your existence.
It's not that the pianist wants to be put on equal footing with the soloist, just that it's polite to at least acknowledge that another person has taken the time to learn a piece just for you.
pucha te veo por todas partes en el cole y ahora en youtube! estoy en mi compu viendo videos de markham tv cuando de la nada veo a un grupo de jazz tocando en otro video y sales tu! me matado de la risa ajajajajajajajajajajajajajajajaja
I do think the tempo was a little slow, especially A peine plus vite. You have a nice sound, but intonation can be better. i'm actually playing this piece right now, so make sure your higher notes aren't sharp. C sharp is played a few times during the piece and that's just an out of tune note in general so make sure that will be in tune. Intonation is really the biggest thing, and if tempo were just a wee bit faster that would be good. Good job!

Sounds good! However, to make the difference between good student and maturity try to a. not be out of tune (especially all the trills, there super sharp) and b. the higher notes of your interval pop out too much. Oh, and this is a little slow tempo.
hi, in this piece are some harder things, but it is soooo beautiful, and if you would like this piece to hear and play you would like to practise it! I also will play this sonate (the next two parts are also very very beautiful) at concert at the end of my eighht grade, good luck :-)
You played very well. Personally i thought the "A peine plus vite" could have been a bit faster especially the demi-semis. The piano was not very together with the soloist. It is the soloist who leads, the accompianist must follow and not the other way round! Nice job anyway :D
try to make the phrases bleed into each other. Vary your vibrato more and have different colors in your upper register and watch out for intonation. Don't force the lower registers. Did you have to stand where you're standing?(I didn't mean that in a sarcastic way) :D I prefer standing around the crook of the piano so you're accompanist can see your cues. Don't forget to acknowledge your accompanist. Hope this was helpful
I am a high school flutist though I intend to continue to college. This was last year when I was in eight grade (I think that is how it is called, I am from Peru and we call it second grade of secondary and the calendar starts in March to December, not September to June (?)
You're playing the piece too much like an "American" rather than a "European." In otherwords, you're taking too much artistic license. The French wrote flute music to be played as such. This sonata is a VERY emotional piece, but I think most of your problems aren't lyrically related, but more or less in your interpretation of the technical passages. Now for some specifics...
Due to YouTube's 500 character rule, I'm going to have to post my response in several messages.
I'm a flute player and I'm VERY familiar with this piece. I'm playing this piece for my college audition, so I want to offer some constructive criticism.

the middle part should be faster then the beginning (not slower!!) and at the end Poulenc wrote "sans rigueur" which means not to slow it... only the 5 last notes should be a little slower, but also not as slow as you played it..
This is amazing! I hope to go to music school and I wish I could play like this!

it's the soloist fault : he start the "à peine plus vite" section one beat to soon ! And then the pianist has followed him as well as she can
