  • EXCELLENT tune "HEAR" FATES WARNING RULES!!!!!! ROCK ON!!!!!

  • I love this band, I like Rush a lot, I like Dream Theater a lot, but on the other hand I love a good thrash or power metal too... Which is why I don't understand why fans of progressive sometimes think that they are some sort of an elitist bunch. Hell, just read the top two posts...

  • This song rules!!!

  • lol i use to be in the fates warning fan club, (the ivory tower)..:):) wow this brings back memories..:)

  • @ozz3d thought you were going to say, 'until I took an arrow to the knee.' lol.

  • This is another epic peice by Fates Warning... They make metal sound timeless...

  • Fates Rules !!!!!

  • if the radio doesnt play it you go nowhere

  • @wormwood2013 Huh? You're kidding, right? That's so far from reality...

  • Jim Matheos style of lyric writing is amazing. So fucking underrated as a musician and song-writer in general. This band is THE ONE band that truly should've hit it huge and didn't. They still have a strong following and they do well, but they're still actually more of an underground act. Pretty insane. In a way I'm glad, because they're like my own personal band, haha. But on the other hand I wish they had their moment because they simply deserve it.

  • @liquifex It's such a fucking shame that

    a. they stopped releasing since 7 years

    b. Zonder left the band

    !!!

  • @VelvetViolator There is supposed to be a new release from Fates next year.

  • @LordAlberonn Says who?

  • THIS ALBUM WAS THE INCIPIENCE OF PROGRESSIVE METAL, I WAS 14 WHEN I BOUGHT THIS ALREADY DEEPLY ENTRENCHED IN FATES AND ABSOLUTELY ASTONISHED WITH THIS RECORD, NUMEROUS PLAYS AND THANK GOD FOR THE DICTIONARY TO COMPLETE UNDERSTAND THE DEPTHS OF WHAT THEY WERE CONVEYING . JIM MATHEOS IS AN ABSOLUTE GENIUS.

  • I saw them just the day before yesterday at The Rock Temple in a small Limburgian town (Kerkrade) and I'm telling you: it's a concert I'll never forget. Their flawless performance marked me for life. Although I've been into FW for a long time, this gig marked me for life. I'm the happiest creature on Earth!

  • how flippin SICK is that first solo of Frank Aresti's, from 3:00-3:12? I got to meet him at NAMM 2011, and tell him that No Exit is STILL one of my all-time favorites, one of the most important albums of that era. 23 years later, it has beautifully withstood the test of time, as brilliant as it ever was...

  • Another great song from Fates Warning. Just discovered them today.

  • Dream Theater-Fates Warning live in Athens Greece in 2 August. Can't wait for this epic concert

  • de breh goccum harika..

  • I saw them at a small local club in the nineties and they blew the roof off.

  • I saw them open for Dream Theatre and Queensryche. Their set was way too short and they should have been the headliners.

  • awesome band!

  • What's this song about?

  • @anthrmthrfckr Four and a half minutes. Yuk, yu, yuk.

  • Fates Warning!. FUCK YESSSS \m/

His Voice Is an Orgasm In Itself..

  • this band rocks,,, my friends hated them but they rock ass!!!

  • F.W. QUE DISCO TAN BRILLANTE COMO LA PERFECTA SIMETRIA DE LOS PARALELOS..Y AHORA ESTOY DESCONECTADO...MASTER FATES...GO...¡¡¡ACA-2011...¡¡A.N.D..¡¡¡¡.

  • i feel very lucky to have seen them live on parallels tour

  • Love the guitar intro. It's an all time lick in my book.

  • awesome video ,and band .

  • OMG RAY ALDER IS THE DAMN MAN !! LOVE HIS VOICE AND ALWAYS HAVE MAYBE EVEN OVER GEOFF TATE AND BRUCE DICKENSON !!! SORRY HATERS BUT THIS BOYS VOICE F'N ROCKS !!!

  • I love FW with ray alder!...loved FW with John Arch!

Testimony of how great this band is.....

  • Love this band and song....the fact they get less comments than my band makes me weep...tears of joy. I grew up with these guys...but they were about 1/1000 as cool as THought Industry...another Metal Balde debacle.

  • 高音質ですね。ありです。

  • the BEST! everytime i hear these guys i think of my brother chad that passed away a few years ago.he loved these guys so much..good times brother rest in peace.....

  • exelentes 80tAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • WOW WHAT A GREAT SONG.never heard of this band before sounds kinda like queensryche and maiden,

could someone suggest the first albums to try out first.......

  • @G0UDMAN I know right? Alder sounds a lot like Geoff Tate. and ANY of their albums :D

  • Great song by Fates Warning, And Ray has got a great voice. 4 stars.

  • being a writer, not scariest, stupid phone ahs a mind of it's own

  • @johnmckenna80 yes, that's a fact, he was a monster player but the music was mediocre. Being scariest, I tend to look at content as much as execution though. Cheers m8

  • @MagicManMe You're right, they are a godly band! :D

I'm not sure, but you might like the band Angra (ever hear of them?), like maybe their song Time from the Angel's Cry album? You should check it out ;)

  • this song is timeless

  • I LOVE THIS GROUP RAY IS THE BEST

  • I loved this song since first time i have heard it back in '89.Great tune, great vocal!!!

  • fuck malmsteen, he never wrote anything beyond predictable... moron..

  • @pinflap Malmsteen was an awesome guitarist who applied his talent to crappy, overly simplistic hair band crap.

  • opeth is good prog metal but their little bit more heavy since theyr porg death metal

  • a very underrated band, but an amazing band, and i personally feel they should put out a new album.....

  • love the insane-o bass line that runs thru this song.. fuckin sick..

  • Perfection....

  • God, I love this song !!!

  • A truly underrated band! Also, a progressive classic!

  • Curious, is Ray Alder a Native American?

  • Sorry, all albums with Jon Arch are way better, They destroyed the band with Ray Alder on vocals!

  • You must be a Christian republican conservative, seeing as how you are completely anti-progress. Artists are on a journey, insipid entertainers are stagnant and useless.

  • Umm no. Not a Christian or a republican or a conservative. I just don't like the Fates Warning with Alder. they should have changed the name of the band when he became the singer because it does not sound like their early shit with Arch at all. I'm not anti-progress, but I am allowed to have my own opinion, and it's right!

  • Your opinion is "right." Do you understand the concept of a rhetorical paradox? You wrote that all albums with Arch are "way better," so, define "better" in a concise and universally agreed upon manner. You also said that FW became a different band, that's true, but it didn't make them a worse band. They upheld and expanded their artristic principles. Rush did the same. But I suppose you think that when Neil peart joined the band their music went to hell. You prefer FW with Arch, OK

  • Funny you should mention Rush, because they are one of my favorite bands and they only made one record without Neil Peart, so they didn't sound that much different to me. However after the Signals album they changed and none of their records after that were very good to me. I suppose you like Van Halen with Sammy Hagar, too, or Iron Maiden with Blaze Bayley. Accept without Udo or Judas Priest without Halford, etc. It usually doesn't work. Not trying to start a dick measuring contest, but hell!?!

  • Actually I never really quite liked Van Halen at all, or Iron Maiden for that matter. Also ironically, I really prefered Rush's post Signals work, the three albums up to Presto are probably my all time favorites. But Snakes and Arrows never leaves my rotation. I pretty much like it all. I'm a prog/fusion guitarist myself so I get really bored with groups who really "stick" to a specific genre.

  • Prog/fusion guitarist, now I understand. You are not really a true metal head like me, which is fine, to each his own. I do like some prog/metal bands, check out Mastermind-Angels of the Apocalypse, Symphony X, Dream Theater or old Skylark (more symphonic/prog/metal).

  • @snaketrails i'm a republican but i'm all for changes & innovations

  • People, Its this simple, if you cant feel what Fates Warning is saying then you are not true metal appreciaters, they represented metal in every form. Perfect Symmytry redifined metal, too bad poison was around and glam sucked us away from real music!!!!!

  • i love dethklock and all that shit but at some point you have to break away and incorporate the skills you have aquired into a free form, if ppl hate it then fuck em but more than likely if you are trying and have some skill its gonna wind up kick ass

  • dude its called proggressive metal, not stuck in a rut every song sounds the same acdc shit

  • Guitar Hero needs a Fates Warning song badly.

  • i actual love it!!!!!

  • man rays singing is killer he holds every fucken note love to here him sing with malmsteen or better still malmsteen play in fates

  • are you crazy, that asshole y.malmsteen would DESTROY the artistical essence of the Fates!Man,no fucking way!

  • I love the way Fates is! they are aesome.

  • @TheRagman666 you are a genious that is exactly an amazing fit!!!

  • I general, i dont like metal, but Fates Warning - in its best moments - goes beyond metal. Listen to my posted videos, and you will understand why.

  • Comment removed

  • Ray Alder has been involved in singing for Redemption band for a few years now. You might wanna check it out.

  • 1 of the best bands and still underated

my teacher told me about them

  • Fates Warning is one of the most underrated prog metal bands! And Perfect Symmetry is one of the best prog metal albums!I discovered the group 3 years ago and instantly it became one of my favourites in any genre.

  • yeah, these guys are good....heard eye to eye on satalite radio......checked that out, this is the 2nd song I have heard from them. just found out about them 10 minutes ago

    awesome

  • It's never too late to discover great music. If you like them,I would recommend Perfect Symmetry and Parallels as two of their best albums. And altough they have many similarities with Queensryche,I think that they have managed to create a personal, distinctive sound as a band.

  • I have always loved this song, Its one of my favorites.. It really shows off his vocal range and the music is amazing! But that could be said with all their music now couldn't it :)

  • this one should make you want to go buy the album. i did.

  • love frank aresti's jacket

  • hello the youtube veiwers. how are you? my my. how time flies when you're on the youtube. oh dear i have been on the youtube for 5 days watching this video. but my audio is broken so i cant really tell whats going on. good video though 5/5

  • I watched Anarchy Divine and Silent Cries several times in the last couple of weeks. I totally forgot about this song till now. I remember so much stuff all the sudden

  • without doubt their best effort especially from a commercial aspect

  • fates kix fuckin asss mother~fucker

  • Always brings back memories..........

  • US Metal !!! Great !!!

    I love it since 87!!!

  • Fantastic video. I remember it well. Who is the older man in the video? Is he still alive?

  • (magic man me): and spectre within?!!

  • Love FW !

  • underratted band.I this band.I have since 1988.

  • Great Fucking Song, Great Fucking Band! Old School Metal Rules!!!

  • bad ass voice

  • This is probably my FAVORITE group of all time. Just another gem of a song from them. These guys have a TON of great tunes! Favorite albums are: Parallels, Perfect Symmetry, No Exit, FWX, Inside Out & Awaken the Guardian. The FWX album was their best RECENT effort, I would say - especially loved the songs "Heal Me," "River Wide Ocean Deep," "Wish" & "A Handful Of Doubt." It's too bad that there isn't MORE music like this! Talented band.

  • @MagicManMe I couldn't agree more. Not to generalize too much, but they sound like a cross between two of my favorite bands - Rush and Queensryche.

  • @MagicManMe As much as I love Fates, Redemption puts them to shame.

  • @VinmanMJ23 who the prog masters? ha h ...... ur taste

  • @bass1134 Don't get me wrong, I love Fate's Warning. Parallels helped me get through a divorce. I just like the way Alders "damaged" voice sounds now. It seems like he was over singing in the early days with Fate's. Redemption's song writing is more complex and I prefer them to Fate's, but hey, you can't go wrong either way.

  • @VinmanMJ23 yeah i feel you man, parallels is my favorite album of all time i got to admit. its all good music anyway. redemption to me is a bit heavier and can find some what in other good bands out there too. but yeah lets enjoy our music and rock on!

  • @MagicManMe .....you said it bro. I agree whole heartedly. This is one talented act. Fates rocks, did back in the day and still do today. One of THE best hard rock/metal acts to ever come out!

  • Fates Warning owns

  • awesome song
