  • Settings for the amp?

  • Hey I was looking at the Super 3 alot. Would you recommend it to get a really nice warm/fat tone? Great playing by the way! It sounded really good!

  • You really make it sound good. Just bought this amp. I LOVE IT!! I'm still a neubie. Better to catch up to the equipment than be held back by crap. Loved the little solo. No matter where u are in your guitar journey someone wishes they were there. That's what makes the guitar fun. You can always learn more and want more. It never ends!

  • Take it easy on yourself, man.

  • How much u paid for the pickups man?

  • I play my SG and Strat through this same amp and it works very well for me.

    Very underrated amp.

  • Hey bro, great vid! Blistering tone! I'm looking at putting a Dimarzio SD in my own Gibson SG special soon.

  • the 2010 modal's Epiphone G-400 62 AND 66 SG'S

are with out any doubt a better sg than the Gibson Faded sg's.

the 2010 Epiphone 62 and 66 sg's have much better tone

and tone versatility the necks on the G-400 62 AND 66 SG'S

are also better. better feel and faster.

  • i'm about to buy this guitar , but i have heard that the neck are pretty wide and hard to play on , is that true? nice playing btw and sorry for my bad english

  • The neck is wide indeed, but surprisingly easy to play and, as with all sgs, with easy access to higher frets. Cheers

  • @dmihos is the dimarsio super 3 got alot gain attack and sustain .how much was it.

  • @dmihos is it thick or just wide?

Bec because i have a start which neck is not wide, more of a C shape to me, but my acoustic has a U shape, and ibanez more to the Flat U, which is it then ?

Because i also wanna buy an SG, tho i saw a problem in the neck like the side are not equal in width some where around 5-9 fret...

  • Awsomes Tone Dude!!!

  • You can play

  • hey i think ur playing is awesome :) a great display of the wide range of sounds and playing styles ur gettin frm one guitar :)

  • Hey Man!! i have the same guitar!! excellent video!! awesome rocky tone!!

I have a question: When you changed the pick-up covers, did you perceive any changes on the sound or tone??¿?

  • aguante hell bells y AC/DC!!

  • it looks just like the standard. same pickguard as the standard. 490 t and r pu's ??

  • How did you get the video and sound to sync so well, I have tried and have trouble, please PM me your steps.

  • at 1:57-2:20 hat song is that

  • @burl0721 AC/DC's Shook me all night long. Too much gain and sloppy playing, no wonder you didn't recognize it :)

  • FINALLY someone posted something with these pickups that didn't have a shit tone.

I wanted to hear what they'd sound like a little ballsed out on an SG

    Cool

  • Nice playing if you're a "lame player " then I'm handicapped!

  • Would you recommend pickup covers?

  • @Swifty2893

I like the looks of a guitar with nickel pup covers, but they do sound different. I find them to cut a bit of the highs and mid highs. If your guitar/pickups have too much of them, try them you might like the change

  • Thanks for the useful information.

  • ^^ too much gain ^^

    but good 5/5

  • hells bells by AC/DC

  • What´s the song?

  • is this the reissue version of maxon od808? the new ones?

  • Couple of questions. If the SG Standard is so popular why has Gibson reduce the only colors you can get is Iommi or Angus? Can anyone fill me in on the history of SG?

  • Colors? What? There angus and iommi special editions, not colors... Angus played both black and red sg's. You can SG's in natural wood colors, you can get a rainbow colored SG called the zoot suit, there are more than two colors :P

Also, the SG was originally to replace the Les Paul. SG stands for solid guitar- and it was meant to be a lighter les paul. In fact, most early SG's were just called SG Les Pauls.

  • my favourite guitar and favourite song :D5

  • Great video, great guitar. And your playing is great, what you talkin about? lol

  • I have a SG Standard. Put Dimarzio's Norton(Bridge) and Paf 36th anniversary Neck in the.....well neck. Agressive, but not over the top loud. I get tone, sweet harmonics. Pretty much everything needed for home and club.

  • i have this guitar on lay away and i was wondering do you think it will sound good on a crate quad jr.

  • AMAZING! i just ordered this guitar and im really excited! it's definately gonna be a step up from my epi g400! thanks for uploading this!

  • Why did you sell the 61 for a Standard?

I've played both and I found the 61 considerably better ... or was there a specific reason?

  • I sold the 61 for a totally different guitar I wanted at the moment, and I bought the standard later when I raised money.

I liked the standard most, I liked the feel of the neck, it's just a matter of taste you know. The 61 had better pickups though (57 classics)

  • I have a Super 3 in my Fender American Deluxe Strat. Now I want to upgrade my mid and neck position p'ups. Any suggestion?

  • Neck and middle are single coils, right? Not my thing, but what sound do you want to achieve? The super 3 is a nice pickup, good choice.

  • Lame player my ass. That was good as shit.

  • SG or Les Paul?

  • Awesome tone and great playing too! Dude, is this amp good with external pedals like the Boss DS-1 and the Boss ME-70 (which i currently own and do not sound good through a solid state amp)?? Please do tell me. Thanks. :)

  • The ad50 is solid state too man...

It has many different sounds and it can sound good with many different pedals. But all you really need with this amp, imho, is a good booster, nothing more.

  • Does that mean that my DS-1 will not sound good through this either? And the amps i have are Brand X 25R and Marshall MG10CD which aren't as good as this Vox. So please tell me whether it will sound good through this.

  • I'm sure you'll find a channel on the Vox that will sound good with your DS1. But why don't you grab your guitar and your ds1 and go to your local store and try one? What sounds good to me might not to you.

  • Oh. Thanks a ton dude! I will. But i have to research before going because i live in Chandigarh (in India) and we don't get this stuff here so I have to go to Delhi (the Capital city, which is 250 km from here) to get my stuff. Everything is available there! Thanks anyway! :D

  • well i don't suggest you DS1 for a booster.

  • I don't use it as a booster. :)

  • Lame playing? Don't be so hard on yourself. That was awesome!

  • Wow , so pretty.

  • i have a faded sg with a angus young pickup in the bridge and a 57 classic in the neck, it sounds just as good as the angus young sg. do it up.

  • do every gibson pickup cover fit or do you need to get a special one that fits

  • Sgs must be wicked easy to play cuz they have thin necks and wicked low action. Im literally selling all my possessions to raise money to get one :D

  • to much gain roll it back a bit mate

    your playing is good mind

  • Nice sound man! how did you connect your Shure PG57 to your PC?

  • Beautiful!! You made that SG really growl

  • played well if i may give a bit of advice id say roll back your gain you are using to much on AC DC stuff ive made that mistake myself lol

  • holy cow, not sure if its the dimarzio or the maxon, but throughout this video, I hear nothing but great chunky growly tone, good lord!!! how much is this pedal, I have heard nothing but great things

  • I just bought myself one of these babys today at guitar center. Costed me $761.

Came with a gig bag. :)

  • is the gig bag good not like piece of plastic like is good quality bag just asking

  • no it isn't

  • its a niceeeee bag, picked one up july 4th weekend for 560

  • brand new

  • how much were the covers?

  • Something like 15euros each

  • Now what is the difference other then pick ups between this and the standard? I know (at guitar center) the standard is somewhere around 1200 bucks and the faded is about 800...Is it really THAT big of a difference and again, is it simply the pick ups that are different? Finish seens almost identical to the standard.

  • The faded: now 700 dollars. There's no shiny finish. Personally, I like the faded, because the body and neck feel smoother.

  • Well... Here's what's different on a standard

-Satin poly finish (not the same as on faded at all)

    -Hard Case included

    -Trapezoid inlays

    -Neck binding

-498T bridge pickup (vs 490T on special).

These are imho enough differences to justify the extra 400$ the standard asks. It's not about being a better or not guitar, these are some features you either care having on your guitar or you don't. They basically sound the same, I have owned both in the past.

  • no gibson guitars have poly finishes on them all of them have nitro finishes on them.

  • if i put the chrome covers on my seymour duncan alinco pro 2's would there be a sound difference.

  • Yes

  • hey man, you play very good and your guitar sounds amazing I´m thinking about getting one like that for playing screamo and alternative rock but for that sound I need to know what kind of pickups are you using, are they burstbukers?

  • I just got the same guitar. A 1976 Gibson SG Special Faded and it's amazing.

  • those mics cost 170 dollars for god sake!!!

  • damn,great sound,man.good job.

i ordered one of those mics too.

seems like it was a good choice :)

5 stars for the sound and megadeth cover

  • Sick shit man

  • did u put the pickuo covers on or did u just get an older model because i've never seen a special with pickup covers

  • its easy to put covers on man

  • WOOOOO MEGADETH

  • Hey man no need to apologies in your description there, you've got plenty of chops! TONS more than a lot of people doing guitar stuff on here, so don't come down on yourself so hard, you're good.

    =]

  • Hey !! Monster Garage!!

And Hells Bells AC/DC I love this !

  • I heard holy wars in there. lol

  • I have that amp but cant play that well. =/

  • haha!

  • hmm nice.. but how's the guitar with the heavey stuff? would the pickups give a really heavey distorted sound?

  • fukin sgs r beast!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nice Guitar! I have had the same and have also changed the Pickups and finaly I sold it and bought a SG Standard :D

  • are those the origional pickups on it just with covers?

  • do you think the pickup covers make a big difference to the tone

  • Depends. If you play with high gain sounds you might experience some microphonic problems. In this case you'll have to solder the cover to the pickup base. If you play with clean or medium gain sounds thought you don't even have to do that. Just place the cover on top and you're set.

  • Lame or not that was good playing, i really like your sound :)

  • and AC DC songs are easy

  • dude,i can do better than that

  • Great for you. I'll make sure I'll vote you for guitarist of the year.

  • thanks dmihos

  • Crap! You are good! um i am debating wether or not to put pickup covers over my faded sg... so what do you guys think?

  • Metal pickup covers do tend to slightly alter the attack of pickups, so if you have some powerful pickups, go for it.

If it's an Epi faded SG, chances are, the pickups kinda suck.. so drop some new ones in there, IN MY OPINION. (caps so that people don't get crazy-homo on me.)

If it's a Gibson faded SG, pups should be fine.

so get them covered up. :P

  • lol thanks

  • Lol, you guys should read the description.

  • Holy Wars!!! Great tone!!!

  • what kind of pickups u got on it

  • but is faded o standard

  • no. the faded and standard are 2 different guitars.

  • yes but the guitar in the video isn t faded because the faded have double pickups ,the guitar in the video have the humbuckers

  • if the guitar in the video isn't a faded then what could you possibly think it is?

  • for me is a faded modified with humbucker

  • i'm pretty sure the stock pickups on the faded are also humbuckers.

and just because he changed the pickups (and also added covers to them) doesn't mean it's not a faded SG, which is sorta what it seemed like you were saying.

  • all SGs come with humbuckers except for a select few that come with P90's. if they have singles - theyre spec ed. this is An SG Special Faded Cherry Red, it is not a standard, standards (as stock) have Chrome Pickup Guards, and Block Fret inlays. this has dots. it does however have modded pickups. none of the specials come with chrome pickup covers as stock.

  • What you called 'doubles' are humbuckers with the cover taken off. It's fairly common for people to put covers onto Faded SGs to improve the looks.

  • are those stock pickups with covers? or just different pickups

  • there probably different

  • hells bells!

  • DAMN! Nice sound! I also have the SG faded, really nice. AC/DC rocks!

  • woo crusader riff by saxon at the beginning, i was listening to that song just a second ago :D

I reckon I'm pretty much sold on this amp, and I'll probably have the moolah for it pretty soon (about $350 and counting)

  • hey man did you just get original gibson pickup covers installed, or did you buy new pickups?

im thinking to get this guitar and install the pickup covers

  • megadeth sounds great on this amp

  • hey guys! what color you think is best for the sg faded worn brown or cherry? im planing to buy one!:P

  • thx i have an other question... does it look like a darker red or a lighter red? by the way sweet playin :)

  • Oh man you are awesome!

Why do you think you are lame?

    Very nice sound!

  • i have a question.. dose the sg look more pink or red in real life because most of them look orange

  • All sgs I've seen look red. Faded ones are not so shiny though as they are unfinished.

    But they are red :)

  • There's a faded cherry which is reddish and a faded brown which while still mahogany is reminiscent of the walnut SGs of the late 60s/early 70s.

  • Bravo!

  • I think you did a pretty good job showing this freaking nice guitar :D Did you change the picukps or only put covers?

  • Dude GREAT GUITAR!!! (i have it too ; ) ), what humbuckers are those, for on mine there were only the factory-ones.

I will replace them with Angus Young signature on the bridge, and '57 on the neck, i already replaced the bridge for a Lyre Vibrola. and the Maxon, is that the old one ++, or the new --, or the Brown MOD ++(that i have). use a little less drive on it. (and buy a Marshall even though Vox is a little bit better, but less Rock)

    Rock on dude, cool playing!

  • i cant figure out why you think you're a lame player.

Have you seen some of the people on youtube?

  • Very good.

  • Is that a special or not?

  • What are you playing at 1:37 it sounds amazing!!!!

  • Just a riff that came up at that time, nothing special

  • nice squealy

  • i mean the chrome over the pickcups

  • Does Epiphone G4OO SG Reissue Model Pickups Fit On A Faded???? gibson, please answer

  • what do you all think i should buy? Gibson Sg Faded or Epiphone les paul maybe black beauty????

  • A les paul is a les paul and an SG is an SG. They are different guitars, you should try both and see which one is the one YOU like.

I like the way a les paul sounds but I absolutely LOVE the way an SG plays.

  • I would personally go with the Les Paul, as SGs generally have horrible sustain when compared to LPs. But that's just me.

  • hi,how low is teh action on the faded cause i m gonna buy one :)

  • The action is as low as your tech (or yourself) is gonna make it be. It can be really low with proper setup if that's what you like

  • what was the song @ 1:35?

  • Do you have changed pickup? the pick up of the special are uncovered.

  • Yeap

  • I gotta ask, do you like the faded sg? Anything you don't like about it? I have the Les Paul VM, and I'm thinking of getting a faded sg and changing out the stock pickups.

  • They are excellent guitars for the money. Just make sure you try one yourself before you buy it. You may find out you'll have to try 10 to find a good one.

  • That's a good idea. I'll have it set up when I get it too.

  • woo 'holy wars...the punishment due'

  • Awesome! So, I just wanted to know if your satisfied with your Maxon OD808 and how it works? Does it boost your overdrive amp channel? Do you think it would sound great on a Marshall 150X and would you recommend a noise gate pedal with that?

  • very nice gibson sg, nice sound but costly the sg

  • koolio sauce

  • im getting that amp it sounds meanass nice playing

  • megadeth....nice!

  • Hey !

Great sound! I use the Valvetronix too, and I love it !

    Congratulations ;)

  • that's one hell of a way to open the video...great entrance...you got me hooked..haha

  • Did you change the pickups?

  • Yeah he did

  • Nothin' beats a Gibson !!!. You have lot's of feeling in your style and i love your tone !! The Crankerny.................

  • well except for good guitars ;)

sorry, that's very subjective, I would prefer an Ibanez Prestige for every Gibson.

  • Nice axe! Good playing too.

And oh yeah, ignore the brain donors who feel the need to find some trivial thing about your video to criticise... most of them don't even have their first video up!

  • thanks for the Maxon OD808 Demo :) it helps

  • Hell's Bells. Rofl. Tone is a bit weird. Nice guitar though. Is the neck and headstock heavier than the body?

  • wut pickups r they. did they come stock with the guitar or did u change them out. btw nice playing

  • i think he just got chrome covers

  • i hate shorts

  • Yeah man!

  • Nice playing, Vox amps always did have a unique sound of their own.

  • u must of put pickup covers on?

  • Hey man, which British channel are you using? the 70's, 80's, or high gain? cos i recently bought the same amp but am having trouble finding a heavy tone on it? i really like what you have on this video. Was thinking of buying a ibanez ts808. BTW my numetal and higher gain settings make the amp squeel feedback when im not playin, does yours do this? thanks.

  • I don't have this amp anymore, but I was using the 80's channel. You can benefit from a tubescreamer kind of pedal, so the ts808 would be great.

The numetal channel did bring some squeeling indeed, but not much. I didn't use it a lot though, I prefered the 80s channel for my overdriven sounds. The maxon pedal offered some variations to the tone too. Good luck, it's a great amp
