  • Thanks for uploading this, nice work on the input!

  • oh man i actually felt your happiness and excitement THROUGH the video :D hahaha

  • Holy crap the whole cast of the big bang theory and Adam savage... :D

  • me so jealous of camera man.

i bet he can die happy now.

  • dude you gotta thank you from Jim, lol how many can say that?

  • of course it's true.... it's BASIC physics; when a body absorbs/releases heat it either changes it's state of matter or changes it's temperature; it doesn't do both;

    a body of ice WILL remain at 0 degrees celsius at 1 atm pressure for as long as it takes to melt completely before it changes it's temperature;

  • i was literally sitting here during the ice part saying "IT'S TRUE!" and suddenly u said it. hahaha i giggled XD

  • Fantastic thanks for uploading.

  • I was there. It was awesome! My favorite part of Comic Con 2008.

  • Is this really Phil Plait's YouTube channel? TAM is gonna be huge this year right?

  • Whoa, who, wait up there. Adam Savage plus the full cast of TBBT in one video? *drool*

  • nice one mate! :D

  • no offense but galecki looks more gay than what parson does

  • I was praying someone would just tell him it's true, and then you did! :D YES!

  • I love how we all think we know the actors on a first name basis. that's funny

  • YOU ARE SO LUCKY!

    He spoke to you :)

    Great video! :)

  • is that Adam from Muthbusters?

  • @shikateki did you get that from 0:46 from where it says "Moderator and Mythbuster Adam Savage"

  • Muito legal. Adoro esse pessoal.

  • Love it

  • Jim looks so excited when you tell him that it's true. Lol.

  • why does ur laughs sound like ur sobbing? lol XD

  • they always talked about comic con in the show! :D

  • "IT'S TRUE"

    THANK you XD Well done!

  • It's kind of disappointing but a given to see the cast really aren't nerds and even too smart.

  • @BrentLarryproduction They are very articulate and have good humor. They don't need to be really overly smart.

  • 'Its TRUE' hahah thanks for sharing. ^^

  • Haha I lolled when you confirmed Jim's statement XD

  • read they in the real live comic book`s ???

  • Wow, I really thought they watched star trek haha. Or at least a few eps. xD

  • Im surprised they didnt get you on stage after that shout out it was Awesome

  • @Mb3th4321 Everything happens for a reason. What your stating is based on pure opinion but you have the right to believe whatever you choose. Some people believe in creation and base their theories on a book and faith, while others base it on facts introduced by the people that study such fields. Whether you choose science or faith is up to you, but don't act like your answer is the only correct one.

  • good point but the science isn't based on 'facts' its all theories. they cant prove anything since no one was there. you can only assume. and please dont be so condescending bout the faith - its not just some book

  • @alwayselly Gravity, natural selection, the big bang. All theories. Now, the theories are not facts obviously, but they are based on facts.

  • @alwayselly Science is based on fact, the things that come out are theories. Its a scientists job to go out and prove the theory. Fact only gives you a plausable explination.

  • @alwayselly Was being far from condescending and science is a mix between theory and FACT. And to others, it is just that: just 'some' book. Faith is faith. I won't deny or disprove that a book can't be correct, BUT as you stated that science is 'based on theories' so are books such as the Bibles, Karan, Kaballa, whatever... There is no way in an shape or form for ANYONE to prove that such stories actually occured, but its based on the theory of faith in a religion that it did. My point is..

  • Awesome shout out! :D

  • Don't suppose we could ever manage to get them to come to Australia... sniffs... apparently it's popular here toooo! :3

Though I'd have to refrain myself from squealing like a crappy fangirl when sheldon/simon comes near me haha! Sigh.. I usually hate that behaviour toooo ^_^

  • geek = nerd

  • what means ''geek''? translator doesn't found...

  • The word geek is a slang term, noting individuals as "a peculiar or otherwise odd person, especially one who is perceived to be overly obsessed with one or more things including those of intellectuality, electronics, etc."[1] Formerly, the term referred to a carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usually includes biting the head off a live chicken, bat, snake or bugs.

  • @GSFstealth thanks for explain, im a bit smarter agayn :)

  • @GSFstealth

What i never understand is how people can call geeks weird... how they dress up in cosplay (if you are into that) or.. being overly obsessed with some show, for example. Yet, look at all the sports fans.. they all go nuts in stands, here in Australia they paint themselves their team's colour (in football) and yeah. Yet that isn't seen as being overly obsessed ... Nor is it being obsessed with cars lol.

Just thought I'd point that out XD

  • I just went to wikipedia and searched it. I copied the text word for word!

  • haha sorry dude... meant to get rid of your name but forgot.

I was just commenting on the way people view geek. Nothing against you at all hehe... :)

  • woow this it's great man! thx for sharing..

i loved when jim answer you.. haha they're all amazing and a love this serie :D

    thx!! :D

    5/5

  • kinda unrelated, but Adam Savage (and the Mythbusters) RULES!!

LOOOVE TBBT, and they're all cute in their own way, I have to say (though I 'spose that's why they're on tv right..)

    GO TBBT!!

  • Everyone's wanted a lightsabre haven't they?!

  • I liked Star Wars as a kid - though it was one of those things that I loved but forgot until I saw it when I was older. I'm pretty sure at some point I would have imagined fighting like a jedi though! And I'm a girl :P :D

But I spent most of my childhood liking pirates, and then getting into fantasy. I like star wars now though :P :D

Though I never ever got the rivalry between star wars and star trek. I grew up on Next Generation, and bits of star wars. But I liked both lol

  • Didn't even know there was rivalry now until I was in my senior year of highschool and some of my friends were like.. "Star wars sucks... or star trek sucks." It was one or the other! O_o lol

And come on! Everyone has a little bit of geekiness in them! Otherwise you would be plain, boring and dull! :P :D

  • That was so cool dude! and its true :D

  • ...and it's true... YAY : D how fun.

  • hahah youre famous dude!!

the look on Kaley and Jim's faces as you concur his statement is classic :) 5:35-5:38

  • @damnedafterall omg yes imagine being acknowledged by Kaley and Jim! hahaa lucky dude.

  • Chemistry is a branch of physics, which is a more delimited notation to decompose whatever surrounds a person and what´s accessible to her by active or passive response. The most delimited language valid for all areas and all degrees of the scale dimension is math.

  • of course that fact is true! Hasn't anyone done chemistry/physics in high school?

  • fantastic job you did man, thanks for sharing this

  • I wonder if there's something between Kaley and Jim or if they are really good friends

  • @agent254422 I think they hang out a lot, they seem really comfortable together

  • I'm never gonna look at sheldon the same way as I did before

  • It's been pretty good regarding the science but they kind of flubbed the season 2 finale. They should have been looking at the north magnetic pole (if anywhere) and not the geographic north pole.

  • good job

  • lol 5:37 all of them are looking at you

  • My memory is failing on me but it's about 3.1415926535 8979323846 2643383279 5028841971 6939937510 5820974944 5923078164 0628620899 8628034825 3421170679 8214808651 3282306647 0938446095 5058223172 5359408128 4811174502 8410270193 8521105559 6446229489 5493038196 4428810975 6659334461 2847564823 3786783165 2712019091 4564856692 3460348610 4543266482 1339360726 0249141273 7245870066 0631558817 4881520920 9628292540 9171536436 7892590360 0113305305 4882046652 1384146951 9415116094 3305727036 57595

  • brainiac

  • good on ya for working that out

  • Adam Savage wow that's so awesome :D

  • God isnt real<3

  • imbecil...

  • I love Jim's reaction @ 5:37

  • OMG you're a lucky bastard. I ficking wish i was there.

  • I love the show, I don´t understand most of the stuff though hehe

  • Yay! My favorite place Comic Con. And a mix of my favorite shows Mythbusters and The Big Bang Theory!

  • Is that adam from mythbusters?

  • Sure is!

  • What? I love adam savage. That is so odd and fantastical.

  • what was that about ice and water that Jim said and you answered?? I couldn't understand :(

and thanks for the vid! ^.^

  • The temperature of a glass of water filled with ice will not change until ALL ice is gone.

  • Wow I had no idea... thanks for the answer =D

  • How can the water in a glass then be at different temperatures. I've put a glass filled with water in the freezer and after a while the water was frozen on the outside but not in the middle. I'm not saying you are wrong but I'm just wondering. Is it then that all the water is at about 0 celsius but some of it isn't just solid?

  • Lol that would be right rajesh didnt say a word :P

  • i love the fact that actually was you saying 'its true'!!!

[love you on coast to coast btw]

  • 3.141592656539

  • 3.141592653589?

  • value of pi bitch

  • Comment removed

  • theirs really not much difference between jim and his character (sheldon) apart from the whole genius thing lol

  • Comment removed

  • lol, noticed that too.

  • 3.1415...9...2 ?

  • Smithsonian...

  • can someone write down what Jim says between 5:17 and 5:30 please ? I'm French and I don't catch everything.... Thanks !

  • ''A glass of ice water does not begin to go up in temperature until the last bit of ice has completely dissolved, and then the temperature starts to change. No one believes me. I read that in the Smesonian(sp?)''

  • IT's True.

    LOL

  • Yeah go you! Awesome.

  • Let's start a debate.

  • Does anyone belive there is an actual formula for Pi? I don' know (something like an equation to calculate the sequence of numbers). If math is to make the world simpler by numbers then there must be something more to it then random numbers as everyone says.

  • Yes, of course there's a formula, there's a few actually. If you think about how a circle's circumference relates to its diameter, there's the equation circumference=pi x diameter. So if you want to make pi the subject, you'd get pi=circumference/diameter. As I said, there are many more.

  • Comment removed

  • There is a simple formul for pie. Yet undiscovered. 40 trillion is the maxium discovered. Idiot.

  • 3.141592653589793238462643383279502884197169399375105820974944592307816406286 208998628034825342117067982148086513282306647093844609550582231725359408128481 117450284102701938521105559644622948954930381964428810975665933446128475648233 786783165271201909145648566923460348610454326648213393607260249141273724587006 606315588174881520920962829254091715364367892590360011330530548820466521384146 951941511609433057270365759591953092186117381932611793105118548074462379962749 All I know.

  • He said that was all he knew not that that was all of them. Why is everyone on youtube a jerk?

  • ran out of space?

  • yeah hes an asshole because he didn't keep typing. what an asshole

  • Your of by 1.

  • I only know 3.14159265358979323846264338327950288419716939937510

  • all i know is 3.14

    lol

  • I've seen many actors on "Comic Con" here on youtube, but i've never seen one where one of the actors brings a videocamera! :D

  • woooh jim parson talked 2 u how cool is that xD

  • the big bang theory and adam savage in the same place, awesome

  • Dude, your giggling after you shout out it's true is hilarious :)

  • I only know 3.141592654 for pi and that's it.

  • u no the guy who has a mustache kinda looks like a mexican ross

  • ure famous dude or geek lol wat ever u prefer

  • The part about the glass of water is true assuming perfect convection, I think.

  • Perhaps you mean perfect conduction? I should think there'd be a temperature differential from glass to ice, but a slight one. Conduction would have some play as well.

Need to get me a thermometer now and see if the differential is detectable (crudity of thermometer will reduce likelihood, heat conduction of glass will increase).

  • yes, sorry, my bad. it was a typical occurance of a "faux ami".

  • haha i love'd it when you shouted out the answer lol hilarious, especially the fact that Jim Parsons answered lol

  • I actually have a square pyrex pie dish and a round cornbread tin.. and, yes, I got them for exactly the reason you'd suspect :P

  • LOL! I love your input :).

  • phil is a balller!!!

  • Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes (3.14125927), yes, yes. My gawd, I am such a nerd :P

  • Except for pi ;)

  • 3.141592654 is my stretch

    sure about the first 2?

  • Yeah.. a typo.

    3.1415926535897932384626433832795

    I Spek Typonese :P

  • 8.3144

Who remembers pi anymore? Calculators have it built in, there are other constants to memorize.

  • Pi. e. Fibbonacci, molar # atoms.. loads of cool constants.

agneishde, "genius" and "smart" are like language. You don;t ask "Do you speak language?", you ask "Which language do you speak?"

You should not ask "Are you smart/a genius?", but, rather, "What are you smart about?" or "What are you a genius about?"

I know geniuses who can't even burn water, have "black thumbs" and couldn't nail two boards together if you precut and predrilled them, yet can whip my butt in chess, or maths, etc

  • You should not ask "Are you smart/a genius?", but, rather, "What are you smart about?" or "What are you a genius about?"

    So true... I love it

  • great vid man. more more more!!

  • OMG that looked so fun!

  • The ice thing is complicated. Water won't go above freezing until the ice melts, as long as the water stays thermally mixed. Of course, in a big enough glass, the water on the bottom can warm up, but water near the ice stays at the freezing/melting point until the ice is all melted.

  • we learned about the specific latent heats in grade 11 physics class :)

    Pretty interesting stuff

  • please BadAstronomer post more vids soon :'(

  • Loved the shout-out about the ice, Phil.

  • Or they had their brush with fame being filmed by you, Phil.

The show doesn't run in Germany yet (and I don't watch TV all that much anyway), consequently you and Adam were the only ones I recognized. So while we are already geeking out here: Many of the truths that we cling to depend on our point of view. :-)

  • Brush with fame... When you posted this, I was fully expecting you to be up on the stage, and didn't find that expectation at all surprising. :P

  • Nice.

  • Thank you very much for this Phill... But about that ice-in-a-glass thing. I have to ask this.: Does the same thing apply for the whole planet? Are we screwed when the last bit of ice caps is gone? Are the ice caps keeping the ocean temperature at a stable level? :P

  • I would assume that a sufficiently large body of relatively still water (an ocean, or even a bathtub) would have a temperature gradient. Anyone know how quickly heat conducts through water?

  • Noticing his videotaping as the cast is introduced, I wonder if Johnny Galecki has a secret YouTube account, haha.

I would've loved to have been there. Your brush with fame is awesome.

  • Great to see a new video from you, and also your small brush with fame. =P

  • OK Phil, I know you raised your hand for all of those.
