  • I'm mainly a 2d artist, and whenever I look at incredible 3d work such as this, I just feel like you 3d artists almost have a better talent, because you can show so much more with 3d it seems

  • all is maya ?

  • I can only assume that this demoreel is just for fun right? If not, and I really doubt that, how in gods name can you use such a terrible music for a demorreel?!?! Sorry, WTF!?!?!??! You just expect everybody in the world to love metal right? Did i it ever occur to you that most ppl consider this just as annoying noise and not as music? How can you make a demoreel and not think about this stuff!? How can you use a music of which you know that many ppl. hate it for a demoreel!?

  • @h0ktar This is YouTube. Practically every single video is accompanied by some shitty music. You are right though, it is a terrible choice for your demo reel.

  • F&#^! this is awesome! nice work!

  • what is the music? what band?

  • @RussianSound thanks to one man i find this song- DOPE- MOTIVATION

  • I can imagine you wouldnt have any problems finding a job...

  • For the car did you do a Camera Projection??? Or is that actually UV textured?

  • @kcin228 I used front projection to get the texture on the ground so that the reflections would match up right but the car is just material textured (no images, no projections) with raytraced reflections.

  • @lilradford Wow that is really awesome. I'm in block 3 at DAVE school atm. Love the place, great reel man.

  • Is it worth the money to go to DAVE school? Do you think you could of learned animation without the schooling?

  • @auratone25 I can honestly say I would not be where I am today if I hadn't gone to school. That being said, pick the school that focuses on what you want to do. Gnomon for video games, Animation Mentor for strictly animatioin, DAVE for generalist, etc.

  • @lilradfordUR so WRONG gnomon for games, movies(vfx) modeling, texturing ,lighting, & compositing,.

apart from animation and scripting(programming(gnomon is good at anything in vfx and 3d in general).

  • how can you import a shadow from a 3d object to a 2d video? I use autodesk maya

  • @Metallica1guitar usually you use a proxy object to catch the shadow then use buffers to save that shadow out as its own pass that can be added back in during compositing.

  • The girl at about :30 needs BIGGER boobs

  • wow...i'm sitting right next to some of these sketches at the DAVE school...gotta tell Steve i saw this. Most Impressive, most impressive indeed!

  • jealous.

  • damn nice

  • rocks

  • i specialy like at: 0:19 - 0:46 - 0:47

  • and also of the render!!!

  • Very good!!!

    I liked the animation!!!

  • You went to dave school huh? :)

  • Yup... recognized some Tofu clips, or just the other DAVE stereotypical shots?

  • Amazing 3d to Real world stuff, model at 28 could really use some clean up other than that Amazing stuff bro!

  • Thanks, the character at 28 was modeled in max for an Unreal Tournament 3 mod, that's why its all in tri's. The base model is entirely quads.

  • Nice work...loved the Max or Maya comment...haha!

  • Dude your good :) - Love the animations, especially the 1 leged robot, i like Mechanical Joints and what now.. thats awsome...

  • Hey that was great!

I recognize some of that stuff. I'm guessing you were one of the people that had worked on Tofu The Vegan Zombie In: Zombie Dearest? lol

  • Outstanding mate, seems you have mastered most of the technical aspects associated with 3d cgi etc!!

  • Very good, is it maya or max? that sound is this?

  • Almost everything was done in Lightwave actually. I only used max for the UT3 character modeling and all the compositing was done in Eyeon Fusion.

  • WOW the part with the at t from star wars was SO GREAT. Did you model and animate in Lightwave or Maya and then what did you use from there?

    Thanks Great video!

  • Modeled and rendered in Lightwave. I actually only did the animation, lighting and compositing. The model and rig was done by another artist. For compositing, I used Eyeon's Fusion 5.0

  • You have some really nice stuff there. Great job!

  • That was pretty awesome stuff there Dave!!! I really like the mad scientist, which I'm assuming you were inspired by Looney Tunes, correct?

  • Actually, he's not my design or my model, I did some animation and particle effects in those shots. I believe he was actually inspired by Peter Loree.

  • The animation was pretty good. Who's Peter Loree? I think I've heard of him before, maybe.

  • Very good, is it maya or max?

  • cool! :P good animation!!

  • Thanks, I still consider animation one of my weaker sides but I'm working on it :D
