Even in the TV show, meta knight was infamously overpowered. He had a 65:35 matchup against King Dedede and a 90:10 matchup against everyone else. There once was an attempt to legalize tanks in hopes that this would create a viable counterpick to meta knight, but even this failed once a player discovered a technique that would come to be known as the 'spaghetti foot'.

It's obvious that the English dub sucks, especially when compared to the English subs. Take for example the Meta Knight-Pie scene from Episode 57.
