Anyone who survives VMI has respect in my book. I never attended (chose the civillian life) but my father was a Rat. '79. I've heard the stories. Though I'll never know or understand, I have a respect for where he came from, and what he did.
My son is a VMI graduate. I am very proud of him for making it through what had to be the toughest 4 yrs of his live. It really prepared him for where he is today. Iraq!
The suck is hard to explain...sometimes it will be physical, sometimes mental....I do not want to give it away since that would ruin the fun. Just be in shape and thats all. Everything else is mental, and for that its your personality that matters (and you cant really change that). Some people love it, others hate it. I graduated in 09.
Did you graduate from the Institute, sir? How did your first year there in 1984 'suck'? In a little over three years, I plan on beginning my four years at VMI following three years in the Army. I'm looking forward to it more than anything else I can think of.
In 1984 there were no women there, we were the true corp. You will never know what im talking about until you experience the rat line for yourself, just like the masonic lodge, people will not know the true meaning of the brotherhood until you go thru the sublime degrees. But do not let me discourage you from going, I hope you go and make it. VMI is a hell of a place to go to school, and hell of a school to be from. VMI 88
haha yea!...that must be very effective! i can't wait to be a rat=]...i won't have a problem getting up in the morning=]
