He's using Yukari solo as his character. The normal team of Reimu/Yukari would be too slow with Yukari since she's focused and therefore too slow to keep up.

And then Mokou's father get's rejected by someone who seems like a commoner, that would have been the ultimate disgrace wich in turn lead to all kinds of problems for him. Then he takes out his frustration on Mokou, the unfavorite and maybee eventually commit's suicide. So Mokou then hate's Kaguya for practicly ruining her life.

I'd wonder what kind of entertainment would've been created if a third a-bomb was dropped on Japan. The current games, cartoons and... ehm... adult biology movies are weird enough already..... :|
Unless the third bomb wiped Japan off the map, I don't think anything would had changed .As far as I know and it seems, the entertainment is not a particular result of the war, but of others influences such as Japan's traditional beliefs, their views toward certain aspects of society such as sexuality, pretty much how their culture developed.

you probably know this by now, but on the second part of possessed by phoenix, it is far easier to stream it upwards, saw a video of some guy doing it tapping up to the beat of the song. it actually works really well, and you get crazy graze (grazy....?) points for doing it.
I've been playing videogames for over 2 decades now and I can pass some stages in these Touhou games... but its too much to handle against these bosses. I think I'll stick with Raiden, R-type & Gradius games.
20 years is not that absurd. I can say I've been playing games since I was like 5, maybe a little more. That puts me in the range of 14-12 years playing and I can perfectly visualize myself playing for the next 8 years, and way beyond that.
You're over analyzing and nitpicking. One says one has been assisting school for twelve years, when in reality if you take into account vacation, holidays, etc, it is a lot less.
In the same way, we won't start accounting for the EXACT time we had played. Of course if we take into account when we sleep, go to school, work, simply don't play, etc, the final time will be very little.
@AlchemyFan101 It depends. Are you practicing with appropriate strategies? If not, then that's probably why it's taking so long to beat Mokou. If you are, however, Touhou is probably not for you.
@Dornatum Mokou isn't the onlyperson I'm practising, I only try her about once a week, and I practiceby playing extra stage and then I review the spells I have trouble with in practice mode. But most oof my touhou play-time resides in the fighter and the other games (mainly 11, stupid Utsuho...). Also I play alot of TF2 and Terraria. Just wanted to know If I was on good progress or bad.
@0ctopusComp1etely I have your same problem, but with Subterranean Animism (on Easy Modo, not a good player xD). On EoSD (Normal, so that I have a chance on getting to Remilia) I can barely make it to Patchouli with more than two lives. SA, I can get all the way to Utsuho without having lost my lives... of course, then she kills me dead. xD
Why is it that I KNOW Imperishable Night is the "easiest" Touhou, but I can still only beat PCB without continues (excluding PC-98)? And why the hell do the latest games have to be SO unforgiving? At least give me the old continue system so I have a chance at beating Byakuren/Kanako and even SEEING Utsuho...
Which leads me to this: perhaps Imperishable Night was meant to be played at night from 23:00 till 05:00 to further facilitate the mood of the game? And so the game was made mercifully easy for all the drowsy people out there who would rather be sleeping instead of trying to restore the true full moon? Knowing ZUN it isn't all that unplausible. But I don't think he's ever commented on that. Well I haven't read many of his comments, to be honest.
Since everyone cares a lot: I have finally managed to clear IN's Extra Stage after about 12 hours of combined spell and stage practice, JEEEJ (a crude version of YAAAY).
But everyone says that IN is the easiest out of all Touhou Games. True enough, I've picked up Mountain of Faith and suffered. 0.1 sec to deathbomb? Where's my Border Team's 5 second deathbomb window? What is the meaning of this?
Also, what is up with Kanak0's last spell card? Why is it harder than the entire game?

IN is awkward because Deathbombs are very easy to do in it whereas in all other games they're ridiculously hard. Training via MoF and PCB will get you used to bombing when you -think- you'll get hit, and you'll lose less lives.
@trdl23 Yeah. I see now why people considered IN to be the easiest of all. Super-lenient deathbomb system (although in this game it's pretty much trading two bombs for one life but still), most bullets have constant speed instead of rapidly accelerating/decelerating somewhere along their trail like they often do in MoF, it is easily possible to easily destroy all enemies on the level, often before they shoot, ZUN said somewhere that he made the backgrounds to contrast well with the bullets...

Wow, i cant even beat the Story Mode on Normal without continues, but i captured her first 4 Spellcards (I tried them 10000 times on Spell Practice, but never captured them (expect "Fire Bird - Flying Phoenix", because its really easy)). I think i just was lucky. Anyways, its a great feeling :D
By the way: Mokou's last non-spell attack must be ZUN's idea of a joke. Either that or a misplaced zero in the danmaku's speed settings. You know, kinda like MarisaB's shot in UFO. Some other YouTuber aptly named the non-spell "Mokou Rape Time". I find it more fitting than simply "Mokou's Rings of Death". This is kinda imbalanced when Extra turns into Harder_Than_Mushihime-Sama_and_Licking_Your_Elbow_Combined for a moment.
Oh there's gotta be a way to no-bomb it. Streaming won't work, tho.
@CadrinHaverit I've seen it happen -- it is possible. The problem is that the guy I saw do it has never been able to duplicate his feat. Then again, he was a bit tipsy at the time, and considering ZUN was drunk while programming this game--!

Well I saw this as well. It seems that it's just pure dodging with a healthy (that's an understatement) dash of luck. Actually, nvm what I just wrote. It's nigh-entirely about luck. Hell, I dodged this card for a staggering thirteen seconds as Raymoo without bombing or focusing myself.
But JEEZ. It's gonna be a long time until someone will be able to do this consistently.
Touhou is my first danamaku and at the time of this recording, I probably hadn't played for more than six months. This recording was apparently two years ago (wow, that long?) so yeah...

There should be enough space for you after the third wave to direct the next phoenix into one corner of the safe zone while you dash to the other one as the phoenix approaches and as the residue danmaku clear off the screen. It may be a little tight, but nothing you can't handle. Try slipping through unfocused if you think you need more speed, simple as that.

And the rest of the fight is definitely NOT cake for me, especially the last three cards. But I have had little practice so far, so I think it's rightly justified.

Well Flying Phx had a trick to it as well. Pretty much anything but Fujiyama Volcano and Phoenix Tail is gimmick cards. I know that the trick to Hourai Doll is dodging the strands of red/blue danmaku by moving slightly down/left/up/right/repeat, but it doesn't really help all that much, now, does it.
Lord, I agree with you raak1010. That last non-spell is complete BS. If the bullets targeted you like on Suwako that'd be one thing, but they don't here.
I was readin the history excerpt and find it a bit of historical irony that part of the title for Kaguya Houiraisan's boss theme is "flight of the bamboo cutter". =)
Supplement: Moreover, a friend of mine made me realize that the attack Mokou is using there strongly resembles the first attack the Wu-Hero receives. This attack contains three sharp claws that are moving parallel towards the enemy (check Chapter 22 of 3x3 Eyes for comparison).

The games are from a series called Touhou Project , a series of "doujin" (indie practically) games. Flandre is from the sixth game in the series (first one on Windows), while Mokou is from the eight. The first five games in the series are from a now dead Japanese microcomputer known as PC-98. These five games compose the Touhou's PC-98 era.
The following games (6 through 13 plus a few side-games) compose the Window games. Legally, you must buy them. Legally...

A Woo (or Wu, sometimes, the translation is a bit off) is a human or demon whose soul is hosted by a sort of three-eyed god. Thefore, the Woo cannot die until the God dies (and they have long life spans), and becomes the protector of him/her. Maybe thats the meaning of "hollow" Giant - a Protector without soul.
I usually lose most of my lives on Honest Man's Death and Flying Pheonix. I can't wrap my head around Xu Fu's Dimension too, my hitbox can be completely inside one of the blocks and I won't die. Farthest I've ever gotten is Fujiyama Volcano, fuck that one... Then again, I can't even complete EoSD on Normal.
Pretty proud of it, even though i made some dumb mistakes.
The second time i got the entire stage cleared, i captured Hourai Doll. =)

PS: One little side-note, did you know that at Hourai Doll, if you follow the two familiars (that spawn the bullets towards you) , no bullets will be spawned there?
I think you're mistaking cause and effect here. Me moving to the right or left doesn't cause her to shoot the entire screen. Her shooting the entire screen is what causes me to go to the right or left.
She has a established pattern. The phoenixes are always aimed at you, no exception. She throws two lone phoenixes at you, then a full flock of phoenixes in a circular pattern with one aimed at you. Rinse and repeat
Well, to be fair I don't know which one are you talking about. I don't know any spell like that. And given Mokou only has two phoenix spells (minus Possessed by the Phoenix, where no phoenix appears)
deathless xu fu's dimension the symbol is a kaze or svastika originally a holy cymbal from India that has strong connections to buddhism hence why it is so well known throughout asia
i only downloaded one touhou game but it won't hurt to download a second touhou game would it. i mean like none of them contains viruses or anything? and they don't take up much space do they? cause i'm thinking of downloading this touhou game.

As for size, to give you an idea: My Touhou folder, excluding fan-games, PC-98 games, and the Seihou project, occupies a total of 7.55 GB.
This game in particular occupies (for me) around 525MB. And the official fighting games are a little more than double the size of the regular danmaku games.
did it take you lots of practice to get good at touhou games or do you just have a knack for it and got pretty good pretty fast? cuz that shits tough! i mean i can usually beat normal mode if i try and all sorts of weird mental things in my subconsious are just right, hard mode i fare decently in, havent beat it though... extra stage frustrates me in a different way than the regular game at high difficulty...
I guess I did have a certain talent to pick it up relatively quickly, but it did took practice. At first, I couldn 't beat any normal whatsoever (much less get up to Mokou) and I couldn't beat Easy mode at all.
I figured out, the laser materializes when it reaches the point where you first were, so to dodge it you just have to go towards it ^.^

I found her Woo spell one of the easiest she had...but her first spell...I hate it XD
I can easily do the second, third, fourth, and sixth spells, but I have issues with the others, primarily that stupid last spell.
I don't see how that last spell she does is easy. I'VE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO CAPTURE IT. NEVER :/
I'm just happy I finally beat her. Who should I tackle next? (Mokou was my first extra boss I've even unlocked).

20 years is not that absurd. I can say I've been playing games since I was like 5, maybe a little more. That puts me in the range of 14-12 years playing and I can perfectly visualize myself playing for the next 8 years, and way beyond that.

You're over analyzing and nitpicking. One says one has been assisting school for twelve years, when in reality if you take into account vacation, holidays, etc, it is a lot less.
In the same way, we won't start accounting for the EXACT time we had played. Of course if we take into account when we sleep, go to school, work, simply don't play, etc, the final time will be very little.

@AlchemyFan101 It depends. Are you practicing with appropriate strategies? If not, then that's probably why it's taking so long to beat Mokou. If you are, however, Touhou is probably not for you.

@Dornatum Mokou isn't the onlyperson I'm practising, I only try her about once a week, and I practiceby playing extra stage and then I review the spells I have trouble with in practice mode. But most oof my touhou play-time resides in the fighter and the other games (mainly 11, stupid Utsuho...). Also I play alot of TF2 and Terraria. Just wanted to know If I was on good progress or bad.

@0ctopusComp1etely I have your same problem, but with Subterranean Animism (on Easy Modo, not a good player xD). On EoSD (Normal, so that I have a chance on getting to Remilia) I can barely make it to Patchouli with more than two lives. SA, I can get all the way to Utsuho without having lost my lives... of course, then she kills me dead. xD

Why is it that I KNOW Imperishable Night is the "easiest" Touhou, but I can still only beat PCB without continues (excluding PC-98)? And why the hell do the latest games have to be SO unforgiving? At least give me the old continue system so I have a chance at beating Byakuren/Kanako and even SEEING Utsuho...

Which leads me to this: perhaps Imperishable Night was meant to be played at night from 23:00 till 05:00 to further facilitate the mood of the game? And so the game was made mercifully easy for all the drowsy people out there who would rather be sleeping instead of trying to restore the true full moon? Knowing ZUN it isn't all that unplausible. But I don't think he's ever commented on that. Well I haven't read many of his comments, to be honest.

Since everyone cares a lot: I have finally managed to clear IN's Extra Stage after about 12 hours of combined spell and stage practice, JEEEJ (a crude version of YAAAY).
But everyone says that IN is the easiest out of all Touhou Games. True enough, I've picked up Mountain of Faith and suffered. 0.1 sec to deathbomb? Where's my Border Team's 5 second deathbomb window? What is the meaning of this?
Also, what is up with Kanak0's last spell card? Why is it harder than the entire game?

IN is awkward because Deathbombs are very easy to do in it whereas in all other games they're ridiculously hard. Training via MoF and PCB will get you used to bombing when you -think- you'll get hit, and you'll lose less lives.

@trdl23 Yeah. I see now why people considered IN to be the easiest of all. Super-lenient deathbomb system (although in this game it's pretty much trading two bombs for one life but still), most bullets have constant speed instead of rapidly accelerating/decelerating somewhere along their trail like they often do in MoF, it is easily possible to easily destroy all enemies on the level, often before they shoot, ZUN said somewhere that he made the backgrounds to contrast well with the bullets...

Wow, i cant even beat the Story Mode on Normal without continues, but i captured her first 4 Spellcards (I tried them 10000 times on Spell Practice, but never captured them (expect "Fire Bird - Flying Phoenix", because its really easy)). I think i just was lucky. Anyways, its a great feeling :D

By the way: Mokou's last non-spell attack must be ZUN's idea of a joke. Either that or a misplaced zero in the danmaku's speed settings. You know, kinda like MarisaB's shot in UFO. Some other YouTuber aptly named the non-spell "Mokou Rape Time". I find it more fitting than simply "Mokou's Rings of Death". This is kinda imbalanced when Extra turns into Harder_Than_Mushihime-Sama_and_Licking_Your_Elbow_Combined for a moment.
Oh there's gotta be a way to no-bomb it. Streaming won't work, tho.

Well I saw this as well. It seems that it's just pure dodging with a healthy (that's an understatement) dash of luck. Actually, nvm what I just wrote. It's nigh-entirely about luck. Hell, I dodged this card for a staggering thirteen seconds as Raymoo without bombing or focusing myself.
But JEEZ. It's gonna be a long time until someone will be able to do this consistently.

There should be enough space for you after the third wave to direct the next phoenix into one corner of the safe zone while you dash to the other one as the phoenix approaches and as the residue danmaku clear off the screen. It may be a little tight, but nothing you can't handle. Try slipping through unfocused if you think you need more speed, simple as that.

And the rest of the fight is definitely NOT cake for me, especially the last three cards. But I have had little practice so far, so I think it's rightly justified.

Well Flying Phx had a trick to it as well. Pretty much anything but Fujiyama Volcano and Phoenix Tail is gimmick cards. I know that the trick to Hourai Doll is dodging the strands of red/blue danmaku by moving slightly down/left/up/right/repeat, but it doesn't really help all that much, now, does it.

Lord, I agree with you raak1010. That last non-spell is complete BS. If the bullets targeted you like on Suwako that'd be one thing, but they don't here.
I was readin the history excerpt and find it a bit of historical irony that part of the title for Kaguya Houiraisan's boss theme is "flight of the bamboo cutter". =)

Supplement: Moreover, a friend of mine made me realize that the attack Mokou is using there strongly resembles the first attack the Wu-Hero receives. This attack contains three sharp claws that are moving parallel towards the enemy (check Chapter 22 of 3x3 Eyes for comparison).

The games are from a series called Touhou Project , a series of "doujin" (indie practically) games. Flandre is from the sixth game in the series (first one on Windows), while Mokou is from the eight. The first five games in the series are from a now dead Japanese microcomputer known as PC-98. These five games compose the Touhou's PC-98 era.
The following games (6 through 13 plus a few side-games) compose the Window games. Legally, you must buy them. Legally...

Flandre is from Touhou 6 - Embodiment of the Scarlet Devil (EOSD), while Mokou(Fujiwara) is from Touhou 8 - Imperishable Night (IN).

I don't know if anyone has answered your question already (the one about the woo), but if you had read the manga 3x3 Eyes, you would know about it :D
A Woo (or Wu, sometimes, the translation is a bit off) is a human or demon whose soul is hosted by a sort of three-eyed god. Thefore, the Woo cannot die until the God dies (and they have long life spans), and becomes the protector of him/her. Maybe thats the meaning of "hollow" Giant - a Protector without soul.

I usually lose most of my lives on Honest Man's Death and Flying Pheonix. I can't wrap my head around Xu Fu's Dimension too, my hitbox can be completely inside one of the blocks and I won't die. Farthest I've ever gotten is Fujiyama Volcano, fuck that one... Then again, I can't even complete EoSD on Normal.

Pretty proud of it, even though i made some dumb mistakes.
The second time i got the entire stage cleared, i captured Hourai Doll. =)
I watched this vid a lot of times before i got to play it myself.
So i feel like letting you know that another bro made it through the extra stage. ;D
PS: One little side-note, did you know that at Hourai Doll, if you follow the two familiars (that spawn the bullets towards you) , no bullets will be spawned there?

I think you're mistaking cause and effect here. Me moving to the right or left doesn't cause her to shoot the entire screen. Her shooting the entire screen is what causes me to go to the right or left.
She has a established pattern. The phoenixes are always aimed at you, no exception. She throws two lone phoenixes at you, then a full flock of phoenixes in a circular pattern with one aimed at you. Rinse and repeat

i only downloaded one touhou game but it won't hurt to download a second touhou game would it. i mean like none of them contains viruses or anything? and they don't take up much space do they? cause i'm thinking of downloading this touhou game.

As for size, to give you an idea: My Touhou folder, excluding fan-games, PC-98 games, and the Seihou project, occupies a total of 7.55 GB.
This game in particular occupies (for me) around 525MB. And the official fighting games are a little more than double the size of the regular danmaku games.

did it take you lots of practice to get good at touhou games or do you just have a knack for it and got pretty good pretty fast? cuz that shits tough! i mean i can usually beat normal mode if i try and all sorts of weird mental things in my subconsious are just right, hard mode i fare decently in, havent beat it though... extra stage frustrates me in a different way than the regular game at high difficulty...

I guess I did have a certain talent to pick it up relatively quickly, but it did took practice. At first, I couldn 't beat any normal whatsoever (much less get up to Mokou) and I couldn't beat Easy mode at all.
