I do not like Katy Perry or any of her "songs." If anyone wants to know who Katy has to thank for her career, try looking up "I Kissed A Girl" by Jill Sobule. Everyone knows she stole that idea from her. @60sisthashit Linda is one of the most sought after producers and song writers in the entertainment industry and has worked with many of pops greatest legends and stars. numbers doesnt make someone good. it just makes them catchy or popular. half of america will buy anything that seems popular.

The most popular producers that are sought after would be Linda, Ron Fair, Scott Storch and Missy Elliott and thats dealing with mainly pop. Linda herself worked with Katy on the record and knows that it isn't very solid. She isn't even dissing Katy and is stating facts. Teenage dream sold a mere 1 million records and with all of the singles should have sold

About half of the country will buy anything that plays on the radio because its catchy. Linda is stating that Katy is not innovative and that she isn't truly new. Rather she is another pop phase. Katy has no true unique quality to her music as everyone is provocative nowadays and everyone has overly sexualized lyrics.

@60sisthashit Katy is not providing anything revolutionary, no progress. She is not taking the music industry into a different direction. She isn't unique. Whitney, Celine, and Mariah were all progressive as they showed that classically trained singers could still gain fame. Michael Jackson was innovative as he created a unique sound with fantastic dancing. Madonna is innovative with her provactive lyrics and image and showed that you dont have to be a great singer to be a great performer.

@60sisthashit Katy has no true substance. She has a provocative image with multicolored hair and a 2 octave singing ability with at times grotesque song writing skills. Her performing may be another question (as I have never seen her shows on tour) however as far as her major work which is her record, its not that great.

People think Teenage Dream isn't selling and so they label Katy a "singles" artist. Um when you convert her single sales to album equivelant Teenage Dream has sold almost 4million copies in the U.S. alone. If you don't believe me go to billboard. biz and search for the article katy perry laughs last and the information is all right there. So albums are in fact selling. Just in a different way. And nothing against Adele either I adore her.

How the hell can u have the biggest summer song of 2010 but ur album's first week sold close to 200,000 copies? In one year and 5 number ones she only sold 1 million. That's sad. MJ's Bad had 5 number one singles and in one year it sold 8 millions records. Because he mad great music.

That's not impressive after having successful singles. Her records sells sucks and music is mediocre there's nothing special about it. Nobody talks about how amazing her songs are or her album. Candyman, Lift me up, save me from myself, superwoman, what you waiting for are all powerful songs that she has written. She is sought out for being able to transform pop stars into legends as she helped Christina, P!nk, Gwen Stefani, Alicia Keys, and even Celine Dion rise to their current status of fame and success.

@aurashadow455 Katy's lyrics are bland and tend to be borderline disgusting and she uses "metaphors" to pointlessly convey separate meanings through her music whereas Linda can make the same impact without having to resort to some form a gimmick to be a great song writer. Katy is only liked for her fame as being creative and definitely not for her singing or songwriting abilities. About 75% of her fans will admit that she is a terrible singer but her tracks are catchy.

Sure Katy's singles are selling however a recording artists major source of success is not singles sales but rather ALBUM sales and Teenage dream is not selling nearly as much as the singles. The album itself has sold just about 1 million copies meaning no one is buying her album besides her Major fans. The rest of america just wants her singles.
