My polemic against the political philosophy of Slavoj Zizek is essential reading for anyone concerned with how to break out of the framework of capitalism. Is there a relevant Marxist vision and strategy that speaks to the enormity of the problems humanity confronts and that yields liberatory solutions? In short, is a radically different, and better, world possible? The polemic is at Revolution newspaper, revcom.us
Re what he says 17:20. It seems obvious that the protests are not all united by 'discontent with capitalism'; the ones in the middle east are clearly primarily a response to tyrannical dictatorships. And make more sense seen in a context of those societies being in closer contact with western customs because of the rise of social media sites etc. This undermines his argument against capitalism somewhat, but he's obviously right about almost everything else he says.
Someone commented that Zizek is easier to listen to than to watch. That's true, but I find myself watching his compulsive gestures, the touching of his shirt, his hand under his nose, etc. He's fascinating, whether you listen or watch.
@AndrewMann552 He has a tidbit of commentary on anarchism that's somewhere on the web. It's not anything interesting, and lacking in depth like a lot of the arguments he makes. He has an an amusing Neils Bohr anecdote though.
@agrielaios he is obsessive neurotic, he recognices that, but there are more interesting thigs about thim than his emotional problems. This talk have special interesting points about these "word revolutions"
This is brilliant.

Would be interesting to know what Zizek thinks about the relevance of anarchist thinkers like Bakunin and Kropotkin.
