Ghanaian highlife was a major influence in Nigeria, historically Nigeria adopted Highlife therefore both countries had major artists who branded themselves as highlife musicians. Rex lawson who sang the original Ashawo song were all inspired highlife musicians so they all traded the same beats and patterns. Prince Nico mbarga, Fela Kuti, Ampadu, Citi Boys and many others all had a lot of identical musical influences
