Unless the ending places Grunty under the rock again (which it might - I don't know for sure), I think this is an alternate timeline.

Actually the ending does put Grunty back under the rock. Then she tells Kungo to call her Sisters.

Why it takes them a year and ten months to get there I don't know.

This one seems decent, but the fact that it's a GBA game and isometric kinda limits it, so it can't really compare with the N64 ones.
