  • I need tepee for my bunghole...

  • Do you guys know how to do the Oni Lock?

  • Wow. This also looks like it'd be good if you're not quite a black belt, maybe a wrestler, and not quite as flexible.

  • Hate to be a complete novice but what exactly does it do to the shoulders? I can't see that's all, not bashing, fancy trying this myself cos I reguarly spar against people much wider than me

  • What is your opinion on pulling the head down and crossing your legs the opposite way (to reinforce the leg on the "shoulder" side)?

  • @mgreco84 have you seen the bolt lock? it sounds similar to what you say....i think.

  • Good move

  • I'd triangle armbar the fat dude if I had that

  • Thanks ! your videos really helps me...

  • is this choke or crank

  • I`ve tried this and it works fine. I have a question: Can I do it without the hands locked? Just squeezing with the legs?

  • cool,,

  • Thankyou so much for all the amazing tutorials. It only takes you and a partner to try these moves out and you end up surprising the hell out of the rest of the guys at your dojo haha.

  • I like this one, our gym called it a big guy triangle.

"S" grip is the way to go.

  • it doesnt seem like it would put that much pressure on him :S but ill try it tonight

  • love you guys very explanitory and in depth.

  • LOVE YOUR VIDEOS , I REALLY LEARN A LOT !!!!!!! KEEP IT UP !

  • Ohhh, so this move doesn't help you lock in the triangle, it just attacks the shoulder and neck with pressure?

Is this just a pain move? What happens if you put full force and hold it?

  • Lol just did this to my brother

  • wow i just saw the scorpion crunch n i could tell this is different. how can ppl think its the same

  • i dont think this would work on someone with a high tolerance and endurance. since its not a choke you could squeeze all day but if the guy can withstand it, hes nto going to tap. whereas a choke would eventually put the guy to sleep even if he had a high tolerance.

  • Hey, great videos, I was wondering if you could identify a move for me. It was simliar to his. I was in a street fight a few days back and the bigger opponent picked me up in a spinebuster postion. I instinctively locked in a front face lock, then wrapped my legs round his back, till he was pulled down to the floor by the force of me pulling his neck down toward the floor, as my legs kept the grip. I held it till he went limp and then left, but I would like to know the name so I can learn more.

  • man, you probably know so many submissions it's hard to keep track of. I'd hate to go against you though man. I use a lot of these cause people just don't know them. Things like the scorpion crunch work everytime against wrestlers, for me at least. lol Thanks for the videos.

  • hmm, i have to try this in training. i have a guy i go up against that is 6'6" 250 and if i can get in rubber guard i bet i could use this. thanks guys

  • was skeptical bout this move cause 2 dude's tried it on me on 2 different occasions and failed bad.got a false sense of security, let a dude try it who REALLY knew it..well,let's just say i lost that match, lol.this system is sick4sure.there's alot 2 learn.

  • thanks for the tips man

  • Wow, im definitley going to use this on my friend! hes 30 lbs heavier than me and always gets out of my triangles cause hes too thick, but i know ican get him him w/ this! these videos are GOLD! thanks for posting them guys! :D

  • i really nid this.. im 5`5 and my sparring mates are about 6.. really bigger than me.. lol.. they ask me,"why do you still want to spar with us?" i answered them.. "its not about the size, its about the speed and technique".. lol... thats why im gonna need these moves to prove it lol

  • thats fucking cool

  • I know I'm missing something sir!! I'm a huge fan of 10th planet jj!!! Eddie and his system help me(the simple mma fighter) finish fights. I'm having an issue with the broad shouldered opponent. I fight 155 and either youre tall n lanky or short n stocky. wide shoulders are confusing me

  • hell yeah can't wait till my Judo training starts........ question for submissions101 is hapkido effective? (its a style for people who don't know)

  • i notice that alot of these are in the stance of his legs nder yours....is there a good way to get outta the position where his are above yours (like hes sitting on your stomach or is that just s.o.l?

  • i got caught in one of these from side mount; a month ago; gives u crazy headache

  • That was good

  • Comment removed

  • This is a brilliant move. Just by looking at it I can see how it works... Good stuff man. Keep it up.

  • Is this considered a choke or crank?

  • @poodoodoodoo a chrank

  • Now I know the difference.

  • THANK YOU!

  • very helpful

  • is the move like the scorpion crunch as where it will only work on a certain body type?

  • Rule #1 Submissions 101 is #1

I learn alot from these guys, thank you Submissions 101.

  • how isn't this a scorpion crunch?

  • @matthewtkeen The Scorpion Crunch is both legs around the RIBS (it is a rib crush). Notice that this has one arm trapped (like a triangle). This attacks the SHOULDER. Different moves

  • @Submissions101 thanks i was asking the same question while asking this

  • @Submissions101 and much much more effective

  • @Submissions101 PLS new vid the last vid was posted befor 3 years sorry for bad english im german :D

  • @matthewtkeen the scorpian crunch is a body lock the tepee is close to a triangle choke

  • @matthewtkeen cuz if u look closely he sets up for the triangle choke and in the scorpion crunch he's got him in open guard down

  • @matthewtkeen

i think its because he has one arm through his legs. scorpion crunch is just in regular guard position

  • @matthewtkeen how is a car not a bike ??

  • Where are you guys located? I'd love to come train.

  • is this a choke or crank?

  • it does look really similar to the scorpion crunch. whats the difference?

  • @Amicus405

You have them in a triangle choke...

  • As a heavyweight (6'1" 225 lbs) I find this incredibly helpful when I'm facing other guys my size or larger. It's especially helpful when big guys are trying to power you by stacking, in essence it's almost like they're working against themselves when you switch to tepee, pushing themselves down onto your legs pushing up. GREAT VID, THANKS GUYS!

  • You guys are the reason i started BJJ and MMA!!! Thank you!

  • Submissions101 - best profile on You Tube ! I learn a lot from those vids . Thanks.

  • Very... Very useful!

  • Hahah me and my friend, have both actually made kids shit them selfs after doing this. its great when they are trying to get something, and unexpected!

  • o this is perfitect at my judo place a lotthere are a lot of fat guys thanks for the vid really helps

  • @mmagamer4life lol i really messed this up i meant to say that this is perfect at my judo plae there are a lot of fat guys

  • lol i feel u nigga :D

  • @mmagamer4life hahahaha. :)

  • I agree. can you even do cranks in tournaments

  • You aren't supposed to, but you can do certain ones if you kinda hide it lol

  • blackbelts or master ranked grapplers can at grapplers quest.

  • Great move for someone like me with short legs, lol. I usually set up the triangle, and wind up catch people in the Teepee instead.

  • Great Videos. Excellent instructor ! Very detailed and put in very simple terms.

  • I saw Sam Hoger apply a scorpion crunch to Rashad Evans. Joe Rogan thought he was just trying to stalemate, and the ref stood them up. ... comments for the scorpion crunch video are disabled :-D

  • so is any of this stuff NAGA legal?

  • yeh basiclly all you cant do is submissions on below the waist like knee bars and ankle locks

  • Depends on your rank.

  • Nice technique. Much easier to pull off than the scorpion crunch, in my opinion, and just as painful.

  • why did they take away text comments on there other videos.

  • You tube changed its format and now I have to go and select each one and make comments come up...sigh...in due time ;-)

  • cool

  • Awesome Name TEEPEE thats a first Nations term for our house. Respect kool

  • although this is a pretty cool submission couldnt you also go for the arm-bar or camora here

  • Yes you can go to the arm-bar or camora from there but this is a cool way so you don't have to leave the position you are in to shoot for the other two.

  • Is a gable grip more effective?

  • I personally find the s grip better for 2 reasons. First, it allows you to engage your forearms more (the 'cut in' better) with the s grip and second, it allows you a few more inches to grab around your partner (if they are a bit bigger than you, you may not be able to gable)

  • Thanks for the tip. I'll try to experiment both.

  • You said it places pressure on the neck and the shoulder. So does this still qualify as a carodid chock or a a neck crank. Want to know so I don't get D.Q. 'd

    Thanks.

  • flipping awesome, love you guys, keep up the fantastic work..!

  • This happen's to me all the time when were rolling.

  • this is similar 2 da scorpion crunch. just tweaked a little bit

  • This is also a good move to do if your getting stacked. Some guy I was just rolling with had a good 65 pounds, thought to stack me and I put this on him. Good stuff.

  • I like hearing stories like yours. You know, one thing that really pisses me off sometimes when I roll or do judo is the guy I just threw or submitted starts asking me out loud how much I weigh. I basically tell them to fuck off because plenty of guys that are lighter and weaker than me have tapped or thrown me with technique.

    Good work!

  • Exactly.

Knowing the right technique or move at the right time will get you very far.

    It's not always about size.

  • kinda like the scorpion crunch.. tweet

  • Very good job. I appreciated all of your videos. I wish to ask you how your business is going, I think you guys have lots of athletes.

  • What exactly does it do though? Is it just a crush, or is it actually a choke? All I know from having it used on me is that it hurts like absolute hell :D

  • its kinda like when u give sumone a rear-naked choke, you squeeze your legs around their ribs..same concept. makes breathing harder. i've had people tap jus from squeezing my legs on their ribs. BUT - people lighter than me by +50lb.

this move seems to work on people your own wieght.

  • Absolutely love this sub. It's an awesome one for people who actively try to keep that arm on the other side to stop you from going for a triangle.

I also found that if I pull inwards with my arms while pushing my feet up towards the ceiling it tightens it up even more...that could be why you're not getting the tap with it,

    emulare11.

  • thank you so much me and my friend wrestled today just to see who could win and i went for a triangle but i did what you said and moved it into this hold for the win :) thanks

  • you can do this with both arms right?

  • Ok...I've locked this in twice, and it didn't get them to tap. one time, my opponent put his hand on the side of his head, but it still should have worked. The second time, his hand was glued to the mat, and it still didn't work! what gives?

  • Videos are only guidelines and it is hard to say without being there. If you have an instructor who is FAMILIAR with this move, they can point you in the right direction. Also, not all moves work on all people all the time.

  • How do u get out of this move or is there a counter of some kind?

  • Take the right arm behind his Hip. Or Breath fast in :p

  • which is better, this move or the "bolt lock"?

  • my favorite , i prefer this over the triangle really. i find its harder to escape.

  • this is def one of my favorite moves. sometimes it will take a while to get the triangle tightened up and this variation makes it so much easier. just make sure you have a good squeeze and keep it tight. thanx sub101

  • I run into a problem often when i try this. I will go for the this technique when the guy's shoulders are too broad (like my instructors) for me to lock in a triangle comfortably, but then they are also so big that I have a hard time reaching around and locking it in :(

  • my sensei saw me trying this and showed me something thats even easier by grabbing behind the neck with both hands and tightening the choke on his carotids by pulling the left hand with the right so that your left forearm tightens everything up around his neck ...lights out baby .....

  • i thought it was the same as the scorpian crunch at first but saw the difference the second time

  • I tried it on a blue belt and it didn't work for some strange reason.

  • Your technique was probably wrong because iv applied this move numerous times and it definately works.

Make sure the arm is not crossed over the body like a triangle it needs to be to the side of the body. once you have locked in ur "S" grip extend your feet towards the sealing and squeeze your arms together.

Cheers good luck and keep training.

  • Now that I think about it his arm was across his body like a triangle choke, my bad. Thanks for responding, next time I'll make sure I do it when his arm is on the side of his body. Cheers

  • your instructor probably just thought you were going for a triangle. either he didn't know this move existed (which i would advise changing schools) or he thinks you didn't know it because he didn't show you it yet

  • your instructor didnt know the move so move school !!!! bro has it ever hit you that not everyone is a voyeur on the web of bjj drills we all learn and revise our knowledge not everyone knows every submission ,suggest the guy works a workshop day ...this is were every tries a drill they saw on web etc and we work ont hem ...mate changing schools ..shit we would all be at a lost )bad advise man ..respect your teachers and acadmies so we can make the sport into something bro ...sad

  • Thank you so much Submissions 101! your videos have brought my grappling to another level. One question, I was grappling a broad shouldered opponent and used the teepee but my instructor advised that I just pull down on the head and push up with the legs instead. I just want to know if there are any cons to the way my instructor advised.

  • Thanks, I love this move! It is so easy to do and boy they don't see it coming. I did it and got a verbal tap the first attempt and everyone watching couldn't believe it - does not look like you are doing much. Very effective. GREAT stuff.

  • Very cool, and simple technique.

I grapple heavyweight so I tend to grapple bigger guys, so I can't wait to try this one out.

    Thanks.

  • Actually, I have the opposite problem when doing the triangle. I'm pretty long and lanky and when I roll with smaller guys I have to work real hard to finish with a triangle because there's so much space between my legs when the back of my knee is resting near my ankle. This will be an awesome alternative because its real easy for me to shoot those legs up straight in the air. Thank you.

  • this looks similar to the scorpion crunch you showed us.

  • hand placement is different and there is no arm trapped in between the legs.

  • You're demostrating very good the techniques in your vids, a 10/10 from me.. this is a very good technique for me to use cuz i have it hard to put my opponents in a triangle cuz my legs are too short.

  • very nice isnt this like scorpion crunch? tried the scorpion crunch in the training but didnt reach in the back wit my hands. Thanks for vids very nice

  • similar but you'll notice that the tepee is around the head in a triangle. The SC is done around the body.

  • If your opponent is broader than you, will angling your body make the triangle more effective?

  • yes it will. most people try to angle even if the opponent isnt broader. i find it mades the choke tighter. but i guess if you cant angle then you would use this.

  • isn't that the same thing as the scorpion crunch?

  • It's the same as the scorpion crunch but from the triangle position. Like he said, usually only do it if you can't lock the triangle

  • this is so good for guys with short thick legs like me thanks for posting this your doing excellent work guys

  • is this possible to do with the arm between you like in a proper triangle choke? and will this make the move differnet in anyway i.e make them have a greater chance off tapping?

  • Actually, the tepee will be LESS effective if the arm is across the body as a traditional triangle.

  • wow awesome vids....very clean cut and to the point with the submissions in each post....these vids have helped me out a lot in jiu jitsu

  • will this choke him, or is it a pain submission?

  • It can do both.

  • I began in the Jiu Jitsu game about 8 months ago and your online videos have put me far past my opponents. They are very thorough and clearly shown.

    Seriously.......Thank you

  • dood u guys are seriously too fuckin awesome. i wouldnt be where im at today (in terms of jiu-jitsu level) if it werent for your vids. thank you submissions 101 ;]

  • Awesome. This is my first submission. After 7 training. I had a mount and did the triangle choke. Pull his arm across his face applied pressure but he still wouldnt tap. So i roll to my back and he moved his trapped arm to the mat. And i applied the Tepee. Wow i heard him cringe then tap

  • your videos are so much realistic than other youtube karate videos!

  • the tepee reminds alot of the scorpion crunch

  • wat can you do mister sumission 101 when you have some one in a deep traingle so the will push forwerd to fold you up?

  • very effective move

  • Wow looks extremely painful. My friend is the same height as me but is bigger,in the shoulders that is and I can never do the triangle choke on him,and now that I know this move, maybe he will tap out...Thanks. :D

  • My instructor showed me this one because I was initially having problems with the triangle choke due to my short, thick legs. When he applied it on me it felt as if my head was going to separate from my shoulders. It is a very effective choke. Thank you for posting.

  • kinda similar to the scropion crunch kinda or something?

  • Yeah it looks alot like it, except the arms are basically in your control on the outside, he cant push up against your body to try and break it as easily.

  • its the triangle choke, because in the scorpion crunch you also wrap your arms and hook them to your legs

  • this move is simple and really works.

most of the guys at my dojo are much larger than me and moves like this def. give me and edge

  • its hard to make someone tap with this choke

  • Depends who does it ;-) Eddie's suck! But is just another option.

  • I have tapped out several people with this move.

  • Is this a choke?? Or is this something like an arm triangle?

  • It is a choke

  • I like the name of this move.

It was also kind of funny when he said "tepee" in the end. Just saying.

    But it looks great.

  • what do u do if u lock ur feet on the triangle choke? do u extend ur feet toward the ceiling or something different?

  • Thank you SOOO much. I love your set of moves. I whoop everyone at my dojo with them because no one knows the counters for them or even what the hell I'm doing.

TONIGHT I TAPPED OUT SOMEONE WEIGHING OVER 100LBS MORE THAN ME WITH THIS, THE LOCKDOWN, AND STONER CONTROL!!! YEAH!! 10th PLANET RULES!!!

  • I am 6'3 but my legs are really short for my height. This IS my triangle. I use it more often than the triangle and it has actually made getting the triangle easier for me because people know to look for it now.

  • thank you soo much for these videos. you guys have improved my ground game so much.

  • wow this is a good move gonna try it out thanks

  • is this a good move to use when your being stacked

  • Cool move, problem is is that I am usually on the receiving end of it, any advice you could offer in the way of an escape..cheers.

  • Damn I was reading comments of the past, I"ll take a look, thank"S.

  • Thank"s for the answer, I am going to wait for the video that you were uploading in the afternoon of the 3 points of death or something like that.

  • That video has been up for a few weeks now..take a look.

  • Thank you. Great move, I"m gonna try it. By the way... I don"t have much experience in BJJ but I heard that when you go for the triangle choke you always have to look the opponents ear, right?

  • Basically, the more of an angle you get, the better the choke will be (tighter). That is why you'll guys angle off to the side.

  • awesome!!!

I love jiujitsu, i'm mexican, sigan asi!!!

  • great job guys i love your videos

  • This would of worked nicely for anderson silva when he was fighting lutter.

  • Thankx for the post Sub 101. Sneaky Technique!! Luv It!

  • thanks for the post sub 101

  • Love the S grip. I find having to use this grip means you get a tighter hold. Really like this submission.

  • With a bigger broader guy you won't necessarily be able to reach behind your legs. If I remember correctly, you can still get a tap if you apply the same S grip to the top of their head. Behind the legs is def better though.

Works great if they are reaching back with their arm to fight the triangle.

  • heEeEey... NEAT!

    (grabs random person) c'mere!

  • if he's really strong like say rampage or outweighs u bout 30 pounds, couldnt he like powerbomb u much more easily if u do that? anyways i dont understand wat the sub targets. mind explaining?

  • this is a great move. i am new to jiu jitsu and while i find that i am broader than a lot of guys i roll with my legs are short so i can't lock my triangles in easily. this offers a great straight forward alternative that i can use as a beginner. Thanks! You guys are awesome.

  • I suppose this will work well/still if they try to stack you (and get stand on both feet)?

  • I put someone to sleep with it yesterday... should have vid up by mid week.

  • how do you make someones heart explode? can you make a video on that? :)

  • awesome! as always. Looking forward to the drill video!!

  • great technique guys, i hate when i cant get the triangle locked in and the guy escapes. looking forward to your "3 points of death" drill :)
