I love how this theme is fitting trhough the whole game. The game begins with the empire invading your hometown and killing your parents, when you accomplish something, there's always shit ruining the ''party'' and even the ending wasn't exactly happy.
I completely forgot about this song. But I just remembered it a few minutes ago. And now I realize my obsession with the track Cry in Sorrow from IV is because of this song, woops.
@mistydemyx Of course, there's the PSX, GBA and PSP remakes out there. But if you mean specifically the NES version, you can download an NES emulator (there's loads of sites to get them from) and download a Final Fantasy 2 english fan translation ROM from the web aswell. I use an emulator called FCEUX, and I get ROMS from a site called CoolROM. So you'll be able to play the NES version of Final Fantasy II on your computer.
@mistydemyx Don't get the PSX versions unless load times aren't an issue. The best version is the PSP. The GBA is good too but memory limitations make the sound nasaly. I forget the technical term but it is not as broad and booming as the other ports.
So I'm a chiptune musician today and it was music like this that touched me so profoundly I could never forget. The original composers that used this medium had to work extra hard to make something interesting. The end result was beautiful melody and structure. It's amazing how 1's and 0's in the form of sound can bring so many visions and feelings.
@isop9021 You had to have been there. It was an amazing time. Going to the video store and seeing nothing but nes games and vhs tapes. You'd get a game and actually spend the whole weekend playing what would be considered "ungodly short" nowadays.

I never liked this theme,it also seems a bit depressing.
Besides all,i don't like the melody.
piromaniac9999 1 year ago
@piromaniac9999 Wouldn't you be depressed if your parents were dead and a madman was trying to rule the world?

So I pretty much can't wait to hear Scott Pilgrim play the bass line from this.

Wow WTF. This melody reappears in the ending cinematic of Final Fantasy IX.
That's so cool.

@Kerrandrius
Yep, and did you know the "Pandemonium" theme in IX is a slowed version of "Castle Pandemonium" from this game?

@EliroX904 Yes, actually. I did.

good theme

Such a sad and emotional overworld theme, especially compared to Final Fantasy 1's happy and adventurous overworld theme:
