I have to say, this does not seem very "David Lynch". Maybe it's just that commercials are not very David Lynch. Not because it's "normal", but because it's not insightful. This is a very creative approach compered to other car commercials at that time which tended to show the car simply driving around in a panorama-esque landscape. Additionally, the idea of the portmanteau language is also nice, IMHO.
