  • the engine on the 2002-2010 Nissan Micra/ Nissan March

    Engine

    1.0 L CR10DE I4

    1.2 L CR12DE I4

    1.4 L CR14DE I4

    1.5 L HR15DE I4

    1.6 L HR16DE I4

    1.5 L K9K diesel I4

  • The woman's voice sounds like Isabella Rossellini.

  • it is actually a very good car advertising. Bizarre or not

  • @boardernut

Yeah, it's a decent commercial actually. Nothing spectacular as far as film making goes, but weird enough to be memorable, and presents the crappy little car in its best possible light.

  • the 2002-2010 Nissan Micra/ Nissan March was assembled in

    Sunderland, England

    Oppama, Japan

  • Oh my god I recognize where it was shot !

It's in Paris, around the Francois Mitterand LIbrary and also in a science theme park named "La Villette" !

  • And I see Lynch as the kind of man who would drive a classic American motor, not a Nissan Micra.

  • Lynch couldn't have been responsible for the banal Micra speak (spontaneous + safe = spafe) that must have been the doing of some idiot advertising executive.

  • @graemeoliver84 Sorry, he was.

  • @LadyOrnitia Oh dear, my opinion of him has dropped a few levels.

  • @graemeoliver84 Why? He's made lots of commercials for different things.

  • @LadyOrnitia No, I mean, simpology = simple + technology? I guess he couldn't be bothered to do any "deep idea fishing" that day.

  • @LadyOrnitia He probably just took a little net and fished some algae off the surface instead. (if you don't know what I'm on about, enter "David Lynch Ideas" into the search bar)

  • @graemeoliver84 Eh, I guess you could say that, but it's still nothing to get disappointed about. Working for a client is different than working for yourself.

  • The car is obviously dreaming that it is a beautiful popular happy Hollywood film star, and not a filthy white trash meth whore, which is what it is.

  • Booo, no backwards talking vertically challenged fellow.

  • @88fredmcfred Yea... I think he was driving the car :)

  • Now I'm starting to think that the entire point of Eraserhead was advertising for pencils.

  • Feels like a throwback to the commercials of the early Eightys.

  • I'm surprised the car didn't look at its own reflection and saw in the mirror a dancing midget! :0O

  • I wanted to see Eraserhead get out of the car at the end....

  • @WhatTheFlyinFudge The character is called Henry Spencer, not Eraserhead

  • spafe.

  • Do you speak English?

  • That ad makes me feel like I'm sitting in a strange modern hotel room.

  • its not as weird as my penis..

  • @tossmonkey1 I can vouch for that.

  • lynch also did the orkin commercials where the big termite knocks on the door and wants to use the phone to call his brother-in-law.

  • yeah...this is pretty normal. I thought miniature people would appear or someone would find an ear on the driver's seat.

  • I think Japanese doesn't allow Lynch to make too bizarre commercial.

  • how is this even bizarre? a lot cooler and creative then american ads

  • the most bizzare is this idiotic combination of words

  • Although it is hard to believe, Lynch has done heaps of ads - and they are all listed on Lynchnet. He is anti-piracy and doesn't seem to have any problems doing whatever jobs for money... Like this ad. Ah well.

  • if you know lynch, you know this isnt.

  • This is normal compared to lynch standarts.

  • I don't get what's so weird about this

  • Symbology? Does the commercial mean 'symbolism'?

  • its wierd but not lynch wierd

  • no one who has seem Lynch Movies can say that this comercial was made by him

  • I was kinda expecting the lips to say Silenzio XD

  • effective ad

  • Conxy.......

    Confusing.....

    Sexy.....

  • If you knew Lynch you would understand the symbolism of the Blue lipstick and the girl speaking. Up this if you agree.

  • CREATIVE.

  • dali would definitely fuck his own cock to this

  • wat

  • whats bizarre about this?????

  • this video is a pile of shif

  • @nocomplyimpossible Shit + ....fluff?

  • Modtro and spafe were Simon's descriptions of the seventh chamber in the fourth column of a bulldog andt ants' nest in Melbourne's east side. He used other, more acrimonious terms to describe the deputy marshall of the quasi-religious "Sons of Gavin Macleod, Anonymous" who invoked the fifth amendment when prodded about his shady borromean ring factory on Satellite Island, Tasmania.

  • @RicothePsycho ...i didn't understand any of that.

  • @RicothePsycho Don't be ridiculous. It's crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide.

I mean, I had one grunch, but the eggplant over there.

  • @RicothePsycho Wonderful use of automatic writing. Lynch would be proud, and Breton, Eulard, well, all of them really.

  • @RicothePsycho Wonderful use of automatic writing. Lynch would be proud. As well as Breton, Eluard, perhaps Dali, well, all of them really.

  • I love Lynch, the photography is beautiful, BUT....

    Extremely + Goofy = E X T R O O F Y

  • Comment removed

  • I call bs. MY brain doesn't hurt nearly as bad as it should for watching a david lynch piece.

  • It's an ad for life in those new urban apartments for the commuter. Of course!

  • Spafe?

  • it's a bit shit tbh.

looks like a first year grad made it in his free time.

Where is the 2 thumbs* down button?

  • it's not weird at all

  • One can only imagine what kinds of fetishes this man would have....then they would have to block it out of their minds forever

  • Here because of TvTropes.

  • @GoldenGal42 same

  • i remember this commercial.cool!!!!!

  • way cool

  • Ha! SPAFE!!! This is good stuff..........

  • -normal- .__.

  • Reminds me of some of the old video game commercials back in the 90s. I'm hooked.

  • this is nothing at all for a lynch film, this is wayyyyyy to normal

  • cept this isnt david lynch and youre a liar

  • @MAXIMUSMISCHIEF it is by David Lynch

  • This was the add that made elderly ladies go and buy one... so they could zoom about at 40-45mph... creating unbelievable tailbacks. God bless Nissan

  • This made 100x more sense to me than most car ads.

  • @megamarsvin hell yes!

  • This is pretty funny.....

  • i remember this coming on...would never have guessed that it's by david lynch..christ..

  • SPAFE!!!! hahahahahahaha.

  • @rick4318 hahahaha, spafe, silly

  • I'm a huge fan of David's work, but this is pretty weak.

  • in comparison to eraserhead/// yea xD

  • I want the music !!

  • heyai am ready for some action any guys want to take the challenge?

  • just a bitr overproduced for some lights that calls the storm!

  • he has a lips fetish?

  • it's disturbing when the mouth raising

  • Dosent get much weirder than this? Pshh check out some more David Lynch.

  • I have this model of car but only ever see old people driving them

  • SPAFE ?? Is that lisp talk !!

  • Cracked up heaps at "spafe"

  • That's about the ugliest car I've ever seen

  • oh yeah, i remember this add

    lol...spafe

  • Didn't know lynch did this ad... Now I understand!

  • Great commercial. I don't know where the car is now but I would buy it.

  • in europe we have some

  • this is cool i like it

  • pretty tame for dave.

  • SPAFE!

  • This actually isn't bizarre to the typical Lynch extent.

  • Simply "Snigglets". Voice makes up a word by combining two words, like "simpology" = "Simple + Technology" or "Modtro" = Modern + Retro. Shrug. Unimpressive minimalist motoring.

  • I fucking hate Nissan Micras. You see these morons leaning over the steering wheel, pedal to the floor, trying to overtake real cars. Go out and buy something with balls and quit fucking around with these tenth rate pieces of shit. And a fill of the tank actually doubles the value of the car - that can't be right now, can it? You'd be better off buying a shoe box with wheels off a pair of roller skates. Give us a break!

  • voice sounds like isabelle rossolini

  • i love that observation!

  • I have to say, this does not seem very "David Lynch". Maybe it's just that commercials are not very David Lynch. Not because it's "normal", but because it's not insightful. Lynch has always shown me parts of myself with which I'm not comfortable. I guess that doesn't really lend itself to selling automobiles.

  • my new car is very spafe

  • @captaingorgonzola "Is it spafe?"

  • What was so bizarre about this one? I think it's actually quite tame for car ads :/

  • in this advert they use two words together too come up one word to describe how this car feels and how it looks like modern and retro too make modtro and simpology .well i got two of my own words to describe this car SHINEY AND BRITE

  • wow, that's pretty awesome actually.

  • You don't really need to say that it's "bizarre" when it's directed by David Lynch. That's already supposed to be implied.

  • yeah, you've got a point

  • "Doesn't get much weirder than this."

You obviously haven't seen Eraserhead or Inland Empire.

  • lynch did this? far far too normal

  • "Spafe?"

  • Cool commercial with a lot of style and mood, but the car is sort of dorky-looking. They release a DVD or Blu-Ray of all the commercials David Lynch has directed throughout his career, I'd buy it!

  • it's so funny because the car looks like a 6k geo.

  • This car commercial looks like a PT Cruiser and a VW Bug had sex and the mouth from liquid television is going to have the car child.

  • joder con david lynch, que clase le da al anuncio

  • i got to say its a nice car

  • i love this car though

  • makes more sense than the infiniti commercials

  • Nissan Micra..i just far tooooooooo ugly to be advertised.

  • this car sucks

  • funt

  • I really like the strong mood, visual part and audio part on this clip... very fancy, yet very interesting and original.

  • i think its mood is weak. but you're right. i can see what i'm seeing. which is interesting.

why not drill a hole in my throat....

  • "now"

  • I used to hav the old style micra it was sooo cute! .... no half my family has the new one lol

  • Finally! Newspeak has worked its way into our commercials!

  • what's really that weird about this?

  • hella cuul indeed

  • Hella great!

    MASTER LYNCH!

  • Thanks David. This is a great commercial.

I wasn't sure if I should kiss those blue lips

    or kiss the blue car.

    Yeah. it's me.

  • i wanna give my interpretation about this...XD

  • what's so bizarre about it?

  • that commercial was better than half of most commercials these days.

  • Did he really make this? I'm disappointed, it's terrible.

  • This is a very creative approach compered to other car commercials at that time which tended to show the car simply driving around in a panorama-esque landscape. Additionally, the idea of the portmanteau language is also nice, IMHO.

  • thank god im high now

  • compared to most lynch this is just another fucking car commercial

  • this car sucked.

  • i want some acid now

  • Hahaha when you find some, let me know (:

  • for real, come to austin texas

  • I like Lynch, but to be honest this advert annoyed me, he has done much better than this, but i think if it was on the same par as his other work, in terms of how abstract it is, the result would go way over most peoples heads.

  • "Doesn't get much weirder than this,"

Trust me, David Lynch has done far more weird then this. You should watch David Lynch's Public Service Announcement to "clean up new york". Actually the PSA is scarier then it is weird.

  • In heaven....everything is fine....

Dude, have you seen his own coffee brand? On his website he literally sells Lynch brand coffee beans. I adore this man. Adore him.

  • does it make a damn good cup of coffee?

  • I haven't tried it, but I imagine it would taste very...existential.

  • 2 words

    inland empire

  • best damn movie of this century!

  • god car

  • Amazing and provocative.

A commercial you wish to watch over and over...

Lynch is a national treasure. Wow.

  • Subliminal advertising is an interesting thing...hey, why am I hungry for a blue pair of lips all of thus sudden?

  • Hahahaha

  • Comment removed

  • this'd be his worst piece of anything id say

  • SPAFE

  • That's by far my favorite word I've heard all year...SPAFE...can we assume, given David Lynch's sense of humor, that he actually thought that was funny, too? SPAFE...mmm...SPAFE...

  • uhhhhhh......?

  • this is mainestream nowadays

  • yea, not too unusual lol

  • ...?

  • Shillocks.

  • This is worse than the Hungarian one used to be :) We had such a commercial of the Micra too, but these mixed words in English are even more overwrought than the Hungarians... They shouldn't have made this ad, if I had to define a reason why I wasn't going to buy a Micra, this would be the first :D (otherwise it's not a bad car at all)

  • this may be weird back in the 90's maybe, but now its norm lol

  • this was in 2002

  • Then Whoever uploaded this vid spends too much time indoors away from soiciety

  • yeah, except that's just bollocks isn't it? Poor Bill Hicks :(

  • Do you think Bill Hicks needs your pity?, You media drone.
