I just watched a clip of Johnny Rivers on Letterman circa 2007, and that opening riff is no where close to what this kid is playing. In fact Johnny Rivers plays the riff on the B and G strings.

try recording your guitar directly to your computer instead of trying to record the sound from your amp with a mic. plug the the headphone jack on your amp directly into the mic jack in you computer.

you'll get much better sound with hardly any effort at all.
