I would record all my MP3 songs on cassette tape, in order to keep the car original. And with all the respect to Edd, which I belive is a very skilled mechanic, that radio he put in was just ugly. It was disrespectfull to the guys who made it.

@benjamin308 But the new unit has a neat blank face when closed whic. looks low key and in keeping with the original cabin austerity. At least you have the option of listening to modern format music if you want. Anyhow, the original is a plug-in refit anyway.

I prefer having the interior as it was when it left the factory and the comfort in knowing that no-one's hacked about with the dash. In the case of this merc though, the dash HAD been hacked about before someone retrofitted an old blaupunt radio. As this interior was no longer 'virgin' I guess I'd be less precious about a modern unit.

I know they installed the CD player to "increase the value" amongst potential buyers, but I agree with those of you saying they should have kept the look of the interior as original as possible.

Couldn't they have easily kept it retro and also saved some money by buying a refurbished CD Player from an late 80's/early 90's Benz?

Couldn't they've found a slightly more fitting CD-player? I understand that most people nowadays uses CDs, but the fancy mechanism and silver buttons doesn't at all fit in with the interior.

Could have been worse though. What ruins any car for me is when a shiny silver stereo with blue lights is fitted into a black interior with red lights ... C'MON!

I can see why they added that CD player. Think of who this car would appeal to, younger people. Show me someone in their late twenties or early thirties that still uses cassettes. Heck my father is 61 and he even has an iPod. Also, since the old radio is still functional he kept if the new owner wants originality.

Yeah, those Mercs can dent on the top wings (fenders/mudguards). Like most Mercs do. And I dislike that manual dog-leg gearbox. Most any car can beat me to 40mph, COZ that 1st/2nd shift takes soooo long. Worse for RHD. An auto would be better, but would dilute the experience? And my 2.3 16 didn't ride well until I took the lowered front coils out. Can't beat originality.

The 2.3 is the best cus it weights 100kg less than 2.5 and the 2.3 then have faster to 100km/h:D and the 2.5-16v has NOT a Cosworth top like the 2.3 and the 2.5 is the same engine(M103??) but it's made ONLY by Mercedes and have 10hp more.

Agree, Edd is a genius and Mike doesn't appreciate the immense mechanical skill that Edd puts into repairing cars - I think Mike is whats known in the trade as a bit of a lad - he monkeys around and leaves poor Edd to do all of the donkey work simply to highlight Edds legendary mechanical skills to the audience - enjoy
