If this happened in Sweden I can understand his reaction. I lived in a Scandinavian country in the late 1980s and the authorities there were ridiculously heavy-handed about drugs. Couldn't believe their reaction to one guy who got busted with a couple of grams of hash. The bust was a major police operation with dogs. The person was written up in the newspaper (think it was front page, or a lead article) and they made out as if he was some huge dealer. Think he did time, too.
