  • too fast

  • gives me goosebumps every

    time.

  • Mercury recorded this by the Detroit Symphony with Paul Paray, a Frenchman, in the 1950's: sublime...

  • 1950's mercury MONIO recording by Paul Paray and the Detroit Symphony - sublime...

  • You can hardly hear the harp and you screwed up the beginning! i know this i am a harpist and i am playing this>:( failure! and im only in a youth and we are better this is severely sad!

  • As second trombone too is nice to play :P

  • Ahhh, I remember playing this with the NSGSO this summer. I have had a craving to play it ever since.

    Good times!

  • Absolutely good performance. The violins were, of course, louder than the violas during the triplet section when the english horn is soloing which made me a bit sad. But, it's to be expected.

  • I agree that this symphony sounds beautiful, but it's the most boring piece I've ever played (2nd clarinet).

  • Oh, if you were 2nd clarinet, I don't blame you for compalining :)

But Franck d minor is still amazing

  • As first trombone it's nice to play ^^

  • obviously :)

next time when you play the piece try to combine the Mahler 3 solo with the piece, and watch the conductor faint on stage...

  • impressive

  • premiered on february 17, 1889, this wonderful symphony stands up as one of the author's best compositions, he was one of the top postromantic composers, and also an excellent teacher, a word of congratulations for the orchestra, they did a good job, specially the string section

  • Yeah, Franck had his own different style.

Noone had composed like that in his times.

  • One of the most beautiful symphony's I've ever seen and heard live. Most impressive.

  • I agree...Is really splendid this version...A great performance of Fca Oporto-Leytush

  • Good version!

  • I'd have dearly loved to have seen whether or not they used trumpets AND cornets as is called for in the score!!! One small critique is that the strings are too loud during the English horn's solo.

  • I did not have any high expectations when I read the names of the performers, but... It's a lively, robust and very enjoyable performance;

like a good strong Portugese wine...:) Thanks for posting it!
