  • Original English version from 1974 by Wheeler St,James available on You Tube.

  • Wow..only Johnny Mathis can do such a good job with this..Great job Johnny Mathis...Beautiful.

  • Translation from Spanish: As a promise, are you, are you like a summer morning. Like a smile, are you, are you; So, so, are you. All my hope is you, is you like fresh rain in my hands. As a strong breeze, you are, you are; So, so, are you. You are like my water source (Something like you) You are the fire in my home, You are like the fire of my bonfire, You are the wheat of my bread, Like my poem, are you, are you. Like a guitar in the night, My whole horizon you are, you are...

  • @furpurr the {original version} words are prettier in spanish, aren't they? but i do like THIS english version, & johnny does a beautiful job with it!! nana mouskouri's is beautiful as well, but i cannot find it online in good form. {all are scratchy or skip or something.}

  • This is so beautiful. I keep coming back to have another look. Thankyou so much for putting this on You tube.

  • This is beautiful...never heard this before. Thanks for sharing.

  • Eres tu was nothing to do with wind.

  • Amazing. This is the only video I have seen of Juan Carlos Calderon, who wrote Eres Tu. Another Mocedades song written by JCC that is wonderful, is Dime Senor.

  • Made me cry.. too beautiful..

  • what a great video. i just like the fact that it is so unproduced that johnny mathis is just reading the sheet music. Like somebody just happened to hit record on the camera and it got saved. Where did this ever come from?

  • the lyrics are completely different than the original ones :S

  • It's a beautifully written song, makes me cry, i like that, wonderfully sung!

  • Such lovely song with so tender voice. I heard Eres Tu when I was a child. It is one of the most beautiful songs

  • I just mainly like original versions of songs, but this song, originally done by Nana Mouskouri of the group 'Mocedades' was beautifully done by Johny Mathis.

  • I´m afraid you got it slightly wrong.

Mocedades did the original in the Eurovision song contest in 1973. And Nana Mouskouri covered it in 1976. And Miss Mouscouri are Greek and Mocedades are a Spanish family-group and they aren´t in any way related.

  • zipflchick Amai is spanish and Basque

The pais vasco no independence the spanish

  • zipflchick Amaia es española por mucho que sea vasca y ke yo sepa el pais vasco no esta independizado todavia <.<

  • No se parece en nada a a Brez Besed, ¿Tú la has escuchado bien?

  • the original is called "Brez besed" , not Eres Tu.

  • Which year was this?

  • I would like to mention, the pianist is the composer, Juan Carlos Calderon. I would have mentioned that, in my post below, but I had not noticed his name was not shown in the description.

  • He was not the composer.

He did not write "Brez besed"

  • Glorious Mathis Magic.........Thank You so Much for sharing this piece of the soul.

  • Hermosa versión en inglés, pero prefiero la original en español en la hermosa voz de Amaya Uranga

  • Amaia, no Amaya, respetemos los nombres vascos, en euskera es con ''i'' latina xD

  • Thank you for this wonderful video. It shows why any composer would be thrilled to have Johnny Mathis singing their composition!

  • why does he do the chorus in spanish?

  • cause the original version is in spanish (eres tu - mocedades)

  • That's right, actually, the booklet he's holding, the people on that picture are the original Mocedades

  • Because it's pretty.

Also, spanish and english are mixed this way daily in the lives of several americans. perhaps several folks in mexico as well. (Yes, I realize that Uranga is Spanish, not Mexican. That is irrelevant.)

  • andy williams has also version of "eres tu",,,,wish i could find it here,,,i heard it since i was 7,,,this song really reminds me of my younger years,,,a great song,,,

  • i remember this song from years ago

  • where can i find the english lyrics?

  • i'm back! i got the english lyrics!

  • Johny Mathis is without a doubt one of the best singers of our time. His version of "Eres Tu" is wonderful and I can't stop listening to it.

  • same here! i love both the spanish and english versions! this guy sing goooooooooddd!

  • ditto! this is my most fave video here. thanks for bringing it back. would anyone know the album it's from. i want to have my own copy already.
