This district cuts off fish for the districts above it. Setnet fishermen in Naknek went from getting 700 lbs per year to 80,000 lbs when the line moved in. However, the line is back out again. The average boat in Egegik gets 500,000 lbs of fish while the line is out, while boats in Naknek and the districts above it get around 100,000 lbs per year or less. Eventually, Egegik will destroy the districts above it from overfishing the pass-by fish.

@Alaskrab Hey, I'll admit I'm not 100%. Can you back up your statement with fact?

@some1namedjeff hmm. I'd have to dig for paperwork, but I'm pretty sure I could back it up with cold hard facts. Last year we put in 250,000 lbs down in Egegik and were in the top 20 boat bristol bay wide. If you want some second opinions on the matter, call ocean beauty seafoods or any of the other processors...There are only and handful of boats out there that catch more than us.
