Another interesting video...I found you by doing a search for Godel and transfinite...I'm glad...
I like the zone too...I can go there by reading and by doing computer work...
You'd have thought his problem would have been about company policy or about sensitive information or about defense regs...But about having to pay you for 15 extra minutes....Jeeeezzzzzeeee!
I guess it was about policy - getting permission before working late. I don't think he minded the extra 15 minutes. I think his annoyance dissipated once he realized that I had not deliberately ignored the rule (imposed on both of us); but that I had simply not recognized that it actually was a serious rule instead of a mere suggestion.
Yes, but if you HAD deliberately ignored the ignored the rule, it could be because you decided that the interesting thing you were working on was more important than the rule...But your point that the rule was actually being imposed on both you AND your boss...From that perspective, I see your point.
"if you HAD deliberately ignored the ignored the rule ... "
Absolutely. And the point occurred to me, too, a bit later. It just seemed like a crazy thing to get worked up about. As an intern coordinator, now, I make sure the interns know first day what the real rules are and what is just strongly suggested.
@TheFallibleFiend YOu sound like a hard worker, i guess some employers tend to frown upon violations like exceeding work limits.

In the zone great place to be no matter what you're doing.

Why didn't he just tell you to leave early the next day so that you don't end up with over time pay?

I guess some managers just have their hot buttons that we just can't press on. You still programming? What language(s)?

"You still programming?"
Occasionally - perl, vba, c.
