We don't go to the beach dressed to the nines, and we don't go to church in our swimsuits. We can all use our heads and just dress appropriately, wearing clothing that does not distract people or detract from the service. People sure make this harder than it needs to be. Make sure your parts are covered and aren't focusing on certain "areas" (ladies). We don't need to have a fashion show, but we don't need to show up dressed for soccer practice. This isn't rocket science. Common sense, folks!

@notoriousblz Its definitely an argument not worth having. Just another example of a distraction. Instead, why not focus on opening up minds and hearts and getting people to really examine their own spiritual life? Why not focus on getting people to wake up to what's really going on in this world?
You guys are only talking about their dress, don't you see the big picture. This guy on the right limits his experience with GOD so he focus outside of church is on athletic idols. The guy on the right stays under the anointing all day long so he is saturated in worship and praise all week long.
@RSmith1982 You call that the "big picture"... that shouldn't even be in the picture lol. "Stay under the anointing all day long"? Half of the things you said don't even mean anything, "saturated in worship and praise" are you kidding me... I bet you have no idea what you are saying. This video is pointless. Those who worship in a traditional style do not have day long worship sessions. What we really are looking at when people say traditional worship versus modern is hymns versus praise and worship bands. There is a lot more to be said than the irrelevant statements of this video.
To all who read this..God loves you all, and He wishes that none should perish..so no matter where you are from, or what you have done, God cares about you SO much that He promises that if you seek with all your heart you will find Him. God bless you all.
Well it is interesting that people who don't believe in someone, dedicate their lives to talking about them. Im not saying everybody does..but alot of people do. So let me ask you a question....does it bother you that people believe in God and the sacrifice Jesus made to save us from our sins??
There would be no need for atheists to EVER mention gods or their lack of existence beyond casual lighthearted discussion... except that Christians and Muslims love to shove their religion down everyone else's throats. Not all of them, but a lot of them. Many are so fast n' loose with their religion that they are willing to trespass on the freedoms/rights of others to secure and retain undue priviledge. That's why I push back. Does that bother you?
@planetdarwin There's no doubt that some do shove their religion down people's throats. The thing is, they're doing it out of love. They don't understand that it just ticks people off. There are people who claim to be Christians who aren't. They act that way just to turn people off from Christianity. Others have a church that just focusses on the number of people you witness to. I don't agree with these people at all.
@planetdarwin@planetdarwin Not all people are called to evangelize. All are called to witness. You can witness to family and friends, sometimes even to strangers. Evangelists have to actually be able to relate to people. They're the ones who can tell you what they believe without ticking you off. Too many people who aren't called to evangelize do, creating a bad name for a "religion". Note: this is speaking for Christians, and no other faith.
Why "witness" at all? Can't you just be happy with keeping your beliefs to yourself and those who share them? If there is any truth in what you believe, it should be more like a watering hole to which people are instinctively drawn, not a water balloon you throw on unsuspecting or disinterested passers-by.
@planetdarwin Because a big part of the beliefs is to share it with others. I do mean "share" and not "force upon". You are right. People should be drawn to it. The problem is the believers, not the belief. Mahatma Gandhi said: "I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ." He is very right. If people who called themselves Christians were actual Christ followers, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Christianity isn't the problem, fake Christians are.
@planetdarwin why witness? if i am certain that without Christ you are going to suffer in Hell for all eternity, would it not be crueler for me to keep it personal and wait for you to decide that you'll check out my church instead of Islam or Hinduism? A doctor who has the cure for cancer would be considered evil if he didn't tell others that 1 they have cancer 2 he has the cure.
@planetdarwin Sin is the "cancer" (every lie, X-rated thought, stolen item, and blasphemy you've ever done). God, being perfect and just, must punish sin; so Jesus Christ, God incarnate, lived the perfect life that you and I could not and then took the wrath of God upon the cross where He died. But 3 days later He rose from the dead, conquering death and making it so that if you repent (are so sorry for you sins that you no longer want to do them) and trust in Christ alone you can be forgiven
Only people who are obsessed. I talk about the non-existence of God once every three weeks or so for around ten minutes on the net. Equally I could say that people who believe in God have overblown ego's, only I don't do stereotypes.
oh forget to add it is your own preference how you dress, but of course how you dress may affect your brothers and sisters in Christ. and of course don't judge :)
hey, i don't understand whats the need with the video of modern and traditional
It all depends on if you really mean what you say and pray to god, and about the clothes, its just clothes! come as you are love god as much as you love yourself!
if you are ready to become a better christian start from your heart
There is a problem with the premise of your video. You are trying to contrast the require to stay in church all day versus only staying in church for a shorter time. But the Bible always uses the word "church" in reference to a group of believers and never in reference to a building. Therefore, it is impossible for believers to go spend time "in church" since they are the church.
Its a play on the stereotype that old black churches have with having service ALL DAY. If you dont look so deep he's just saying you arent required to stay in a building all day to have a church gathering. Its comedy, not evangalism. lighten up
in the new testament, Paul says that if what he does would cause another brother to stumble-let him be far from it! if dressing up is the tradition of the church, why would you want to cause someone else to stumble by wearing holey jeans? as far as being in church for a certain amount of time...i think the important thing to remember is meeting w/ believers is a new testament truth and very applicable. you can meet for however long- but it seems to me you'd want to meet w/ believers often.
For that exact reason, it's tradition, and tradition does not get anyone into Heaven.
I've found that the greatest way for me to show that I love someone, and especially God, is to be myself, and dress the way I normally would throughout the week instead of changing that on Sunday.
Sunday isn't the only day that should belong to God anyways, every day should.
Yeah, which I suppose the best way of looking at it though is to say that it doesn't matter how you dress, as long as it's out of modesty. Whether you wear a suit or jeans with holes in them is irrelevant.
The best argument I've heard (which really got me the way I am today about dressing) was a person who said, "I'd rather spend time in the morning getting my heart right to worship rather than spending time getting my suit looking right."
I can't deny that. And i think you made a great point with the modesty part, there's too many girls in my church who think that they need to show guys that girls actually have breasts and have gone as far as possible to prove it.
@mikeyboy86 I like what you've said. After 17yrs of being a reborn christian, attending KT London than Hillsong London etc., I am more towards SIMPLE CHURCH or also called HOUSE CHURCH. Check this out here on youtube, pls.
I just read the book "Houses that will change the world" W.Simson.
@mikeyboy86 It's sad when we all know we would take time picking out the right and appropriate outfit if we were going to meet with the president, but when we're going before God whom we say we love we chose to put on anything.
@pother101 The problem with that p.o.v. is that the Bible says several things about dressing up... namely, don't do it. First, the way John the Baptist was compared to fine linens as one who dwells in palaces (not a good thing by the way), second, it's distracting, and lastly, it's not a matter of the outside, but the inside. Wherever you are is where He is, the veil was torn! The Temple age is over, He's with you everywhere, not just "church", which is not Sunday service, it's you and me.
@pother101 and btw, I'd dress for the president the same way I'd dress when I worship the Almighty anyways. Besides, most of my worship is in my prayer closet, not in a Roman Pagan Sun god worshiping Constantinian adopted Western Gentile version of "church" from 1500 years ago... Acts 2. That's what true church looks like. After Peter's message, real church began.
if you dress up in church then shouldnt you dress up at all times? wouldnt that be hypocrisy? cuz how we act in church is how we should act outside right... cuz otherwise that would again be hypocrisy
I agree with you for the most part. I feel that God is more concerned with the condition of our hearts than our clothes. You copuld dress up and say it's out of respect for God...but God would rather see us dressing up our hearts and lives.
I never understood the whole fancy church clothes thing...grew up in an Apostolic church. I know in my heart that these things don't matter to God. Some sin, don't pray, submitt, or repent all week...then dress up on Sunday and hold others to this.
@iZykle no, it's like getting dressed up to go to a wedding, meeting, or even to work. You dress up for special occasions. I'm not saying one has to, I'm just saying it's not hypocrisy, unless your talking about a standard of living. Like you dress modestly outside church and don't at church, but then say "I always dress appropriately." Make sense?
That is a naive way to look at it. God meets his people in a special way when they gather together. Dressing up is a matter of respect. If the President or Prime Minister of a country or a Judge called you to appear before them would you dress up a little? Isn't God greater then them. Hypocrisy has to do with how you ACT not how you dress. Do you wear a bathing suit to the pool? Do you wear a bathing suit to a funeral? We all dress for the occasion then, don't we? The question is God worth it?
@iZykle In the old testament the Priests were required to wear ridiculously ornate clothes when entering into the presence of God. We, in the same manner, should wear our best when in the church. I think of it this way: if you wear your best to an outing, but not to church, where do your priorities lie? Not the most expensive, just the best you have. Doesn't God deserve our best? Again, not the best in the world, or in the church, the best YOU have.
@crosswalkstudios That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, and there is as much truth in as a grain of salt. First, we no longer live under the Old Testament law, we live by the law of Grace (Christianity 101). Second, how does one go about "entering" into the presence of the omnipresent God.. you best be wearing your monkey suit all day haha. Third do you not realize that God "dwells in a temple not made with hands." If you go to church to "enter" God's presence then you missed the point...
@sellison08 May I remind you, Mat. 5:17 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil." and Rev. 15:8 "And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple..." So yes, the Law still matters (Jesus said so), and God's presence can be tangible if He wants it to be. I do to Church to worship God the best I can, and that entails wearing the best I have.
@crosswalkstudios Thanks for the reminder but I will send that back your way, Jesus did not destroy the Law but He fulfilled it, as He said "It is finished." He also said, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart...Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." And are you really quoting rev. 15:8 as a proof for anything lol, if you read the verse in context it clearly has nothing to do with what you are using it for...
@crosswalkstudios And yes God's presence can be anything He wants it to be but that does not make it so lol, he appeared in a burning bush so are bushes holy now.. absolutely not. If you want to experience God go sit under a tree lol. Or how about you simply be still and know that He is God. I bet you don't even know what worship is considering that you go to church to "do it." What a shame.
@crosswalkstudios Lastly a house of hypocrites has nothing to do with God's presence except maybe the lack of it. And again I fail to see proof of why wearing your best is God commanded, so just be honest and say that you don't know because I'm sure that you are just following the tradition that was handed down to you from other Christians who knew no better. I sympathize with you all, but then again must "Christians" don't actually care about God anyway. I'm glad Paul isn't here to the see this
@sellison08 You are missing my point completely. The only reason I quoted Revelation is to prove that God's presence CAN be tangible. you said, and I quote, "how does one go about "entering" into the presence of the omnipresent God." I wear my best to Church out of respect, and I really don't appreciate you judging my motives for going to Church.
you said,"I fail to see proof of why wearing your best is God commanded" and I simply say that God DESERVES our best. Need there be a better reason?
@sellison08 Its not so much that it is commanded, and if you go back and look through ALL of the comments I have made, I have condemned no one for expressing an apposing view, as you have (see the end of your last 2 comments.) and I have NEVER claimed that it was commanded, but doesn't God DESERVE it? Why wouldn't you want to show him your best? If you wish to discuss this further, I'm sure everyone would appreciate it if we did it through messages instead. May God bless!
Though it is sad that we would be excited to dress nice on a date...but try and pick the worst stuff in our closet so our brothers and sister won't think "I am legalistic".
@iZykle Well, I understand your point, but there is such thing as a dress code. You aren't gonna go to a church with a sleeveless shirt and sandals just because you would dress like that daily. See the point I'm making?
@iZykle I dont really think so, we dress up for special occasions like weddings, birthdays, holidays, etc, & we dont call that hypocritical. I think going to Jesus sanctuary is a special occasion, but it doesnt have to be expressed in clothing, but a heart of praise. Obviously is a personal decision, I wear jeans & sandals sometimes, sometimes a dress. But I agree, if you feel that if something isnt appropriate to wear in church, we probably shouldnt wear it elsewhere.
@iZykle Maybe, maybe not, I understood Sunday best as best for the Lord. At least that is the argument I've been given for it. regardless of what you wear modesty and humility is key. God bless
@iZykle I agree..therefore - present your best before a holy, sovereign God when in the house of worship. We go to interviews with our best to impress the potential employer...and dressing for your Lord (not to impress man) in church is good too...why not? ITS ALL ABOUT OUR INTENTIONS. Do the best you can to present yourself clean and respectful before the Lord. MY OPINION
I can see this message goes much deeper than just the clothes. But I'll say two things.
1. "Well... I woulda let you into Heaven.. but you wear jeans on Sunday, what's up with that? A a T-shirt? Tsk, c'mon... FLIP FLOPS!? C'mon, you shoulda spent that $100 you gave to the needy on suit and tie!" (I think you get my point).
2. It's where your heart is. Is it the hands of God? Or tucked away in an Armony suit?
lol aint it odd.. the Father made us as perfect beings... pure and oh ya naked... not only that but he said it is good. even more so what is the first thing sinful man did? fashion clothing. personally i believe it is offensive to deem any clothing worthy or unworthy to worship God in as its sole purpose is to cover his creation. now with that said i dont advocate nudity as we are to honor the laws of the land. just food for though from a guy who goes to church in board shorts a tee and barefoot
well this is a tricky topic i really dont know about the dress part i think that the reason that you dress up has nothing to do with God but since you're going to see a lot of people you want to look nice. the thing about staying at church all day that's something that i think is not necessary as long as u keep focused on God. music wise the newer songs reach me more than anything but i think that's a generational thing because im only 13
Pr 22:28 Remove not the ancient landmark, which thy fathers have set. Pr 23:10a Remove not the old landmark Deut 27:17 Cursed be he that removeth his neighbour's landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen.
how we look or dress; he loves the person in shorts just as much as the person in a suit and tie. We dress nice, not so God loves us more, but to show respect. But if your pastor or youth minister thinks dressing down will draw more people who are intimidated by the suit and tie, then I say dress down.
give an example of one time in the Bible where the Church became like the world, relevant, to draw the world to Church. just one instance. 1Jn 2:15 Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.Jn 15:19If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. Ga 1:10a For do I now persuade men, or God? Rom12:2
1 cor 9:19 For since I am free from all I can make myself a slave to all, in order to gain even more people.8 9:20 To the Jews I became like a Jew to gain the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law)9 to gain those under the law. ... 9:22 To the weak I became weak in order to gain the weak. I have become all things to all people, so that by all means I may save some.
Not that we should take part in the worlds evil, but we should be relavent. You ask for one example. Every time Jesus used a parable it was relevent to what those people understood. Also he didnt spend a lot of time with the Holy Holy people of that time, he spent his time around those that the "Church folk" of that day called sinners. Its not loving the world, its being relevant. You dont speak chinese while in spain.
I gotta get in on this discussion over how to dress in church. Personally, I wear nice jeans, and a polo shirt, or button up shirt, which is probably somewhere in between what y'all are arguing. I agree with the people stating the reason to dress nice is because you are going to church to come encounter with God/Holy Spirit. So you want to look nice and respectable. However, I don't belive we should shun people from coming to church because they are in shorts. God's love isn't dependent on
God sees us every hour of every day. Why should you dress up to see Him? Isn't that being fake? I don't think you need to go to church for hours on end to worship God. Go, be in community, praise in community, and then go live in the community. Love God, then do as you please. (St. Augustine). It's just a matter of opinion, go do as you see fit and leave others alone.
well modern doesn't show God the respect he deserves...don't you think...or do you think going to church dressing like you would anyotherday is respect?
but don't you think that you should LOOK respectable too...GOD is a jealous God...he wants us to give him the honor and respect he deserves...THRU ALL THINGS...not just songs and teachings...but with EVERYTHING we do...and that includes how we dress...talk...act...etc....
My opinion is that God looks at the heart, not at the outward appearance (Which is what the Bible says). And if I am who He created me to be, why should I change who I am by putting on my 'Sunday best' every Sunday instead of just being who He loves to begin with.... me.
i totally understand that you can praise God in whatever way you see fit, as long as you follow his comandments and his teachings (ie going to church every sunday etc) but you need to remember this, this is God we are talking about, the supreme being in the universe who created YOU for the sole reason of because he loved you before there was time. i'm pretty sure he deserves more then just one hour on sundays. which is why traditional things are so beautiful, they show a reverence not seen today
ya ... watever way you want...i desagree...your supposed to show him respect...dress in proper clothing...and not chew gum in church...you wouldn't do that in front of the president..in fact people act better in front of the president then God....how shameful!!! TRADITONAL ROX!!!! CUZ OF THE ''TRADITON'' PART....AND THERES MORE RESPECT FOR GOD...IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE WAT YOU WANT BUT WAT GOD WANTS!!! SO YA...TRADITIONAL ISSSSSS B-E-A-U-TIFUL!!!
REALLY? so David who undressed into his underwear danceing and shouting praiseing God whom God sais was after his own heart... didnt know how to properly worship? mind you he was the man whom God used to create Worship
Wooooa hoss!!! Get your theology together. David did NOT create worship. If you're going by the Bible the first mention of worship is when Abraham was taking Issac up to be sacrificed. No offense, I was just offended that you would write that with such athourity. Make sure you know for sure before you try and school somebody.
Soooo... modern=good and traditional=bad? Not so, my friend. There are aspects of both that are good, and yes, some aspects of both that are bad. To go too far in either direction is likely to cause you to lose focus on the goal: your relationship with God and others.

The problem is the believers, not the belief. Mahatma Gandhi said: "I like your Christ. I do not like your Christians. They are so unlike your Christ." He is very right. If people who called themselves Christians were actual Christ followers, we wouldn't be having this discussion. Christianity isn't the problem, fake Christians are.
babyfacefreeman 1 year ago
@planetdarwin why witness? if i am certain that without Christ you are going to suffer in Hell for all eternity, would it not be crueler for me to keep it personal and wait for you to decide that you'll check out my church instead of Islam or Hinduism? A doctor who has the cure for cancer would be considered evil if he didn't tell others that 1 they have cancer 2 he has the cure.
stargazer220 1 year ago
@planetdarwin Sin is the "cancer" (every lie, X-rated thought, stolen item, and blasphemy you've ever done). God, being perfect and just, must punish sin; so Jesus Christ, God incarnate, lived the perfect life that you and I could not and then took the wrath of God upon the cross where He died. But 3 days later He rose from the dead, conquering death and making it so that if you repent (are so sorry for you sins that you no longer want to do them) and trust in Christ alone you can be forgiven

There is a problem with the premise of your video. You are trying to contrast the require to stay in church all day versus only staying in church for a shorter time. But the Bible always uses the word "church" in reference to a group of believers and never in reference to a building. Therefore, it is impossible for believers to go spend time "in church" since they are the church.
tjtesttesttest 2 years ago
Its a play on the stereotype that old black churches have with having service ALL DAY. If you dont look so deep he's just saying you arent required to stay in a building all day to have a church gathering. Its comedy, not evangalism. lighten up

in the new testament, Paul says that if what he does would cause another brother to stumble-let him be far from it! if dressing up is the tradition of the church, why would you want to cause someone else to stumble by wearing holey jeans? as far as being in church for a certain amount of time...i think the important thing to remember is meeting w/ believers is a new testament truth and very applicable. you can meet for however long- but it seems to me you'd want to meet w/ believers often.
eskimopie2416 3 years ago
For that exact reason, it's tradition, and tradition does not get anyone into Heaven.
I've found that the greatest way for me to show that I love someone, and especially God, is to be myself, and dress the way I normally would throughout the week instead of changing that on Sunday.
Sunday isn't the only day that should belong to God anyways, every day should.

I find dressing up as a sign of respect, it shows that I'm willing to go the extra mile for God.

Even though the Bible says He only looks at the heart?
The Bible actually really looks down on dressing up... a lot.
But to each his own I suppose.
mikeyboy86 2 years ago
The Bible looks down on dressing up out of vanity. But God knows if you're dressing up out of respect for Him. He notices those things.
cirelancaster 2 years ago
Yeah, which I suppose the best way of looking at it though is to say that it doesn't matter how you dress, as long as it's out of modesty. Whether you wear a suit or jeans with holes in them is irrelevant.
The best argument I've heard (which really got me the way I am today about dressing) was a person who said, "I'd rather spend time in the morning getting my heart right to worship rather than spending time getting my suit looking right."
mikeyboy86 2 years ago 14
I can't deny that. And i think you made a great point with the modesty part, there's too many girls in my church who think that they need to show guys that girls actually have breasts and have gone as far as possible to prove it.

@mikeyboy86 It's sad when we all know we would take time picking out the right and appropriate outfit if we were going to meet with the president, but when we're going before God whom we say we love we chose to put on anything.
pother101 4 months ago
@pother101 The problem with that p.o.v. is that the Bible says several things about dressing up... namely, don't do it. First, the way John the Baptist was compared to fine linens as one who dwells in palaces (not a good thing by the way), second, it's distracting, and lastly, it's not a matter of the outside, but the inside. Wherever you are is where He is, the veil was torn! The Temple age is over, He's with you everywhere, not just "church", which is not Sunday service, it's you and me.
mikeyboy86 4 months ago
@pother101 and btw, I'd dress for the president the same way I'd dress when I worship the Almighty anyways. Besides, most of my worship is in my prayer closet, not in a Roman Pagan Sun god worshiping Constantinian adopted Western Gentile version of "church" from 1500 years ago... Acts 2. That's what true church looks like. After Peter's message, real church began.
mikeyboy86 4 months ago
if you dress up in church then shouldnt you dress up at all times? wouldnt that be hypocrisy? cuz how we act in church is how we should act outside right... cuz otherwise that would again be hypocrisy
iZykle 2 years ago 12
I agree with you for the most part. I feel that God is more concerned with the condition of our hearts than our clothes. You copuld dress up and say it's out of respect for God...but God would rather see us dressing up our hearts and lives.
I never understood the whole fancy church clothes thing...grew up in an Apostolic church. I know in my heart that these things don't matter to God. Some sin, don't pray, submitt, or repent all week...then dress up on Sunday and hold others to this.
nocturne1980 2 years ago
@iZykle no, it's like getting dressed up to go to a wedding, meeting, or even to work. You dress up for special occasions. I'm not saying one has to, I'm just saying it's not hypocrisy, unless your talking about a standard of living. Like you dress modestly outside church and don't at church, but then say "I always dress appropriately." Make sense?
cougar8805 1 year ago
That is a naive way to look at it. God meets his people in a special way when they gather together. Dressing up is a matter of respect. If the President or Prime Minister of a country or a Judge called you to appear before them would you dress up a little? Isn't God greater then them. Hypocrisy has to do with how you ACT not how you dress. Do you wear a bathing suit to the pool? Do you wear a bathing suit to a funeral? We all dress for the occasion then, don't we? The question is God worth it?
Masiewicz 1 year ago
@iZykle In the old testament the Priests were required to wear ridiculously ornate clothes when entering into the presence of God. We, in the same manner, should wear our best when in the church. I think of it this way: if you wear your best to an outing, but not to church, where do your priorities lie? Not the most expensive, just the best you have. Doesn't God deserve our best? Again, not the best in the world, or in the church, the best YOU have.
crosswalkstudios 1 year ago
@crosswalkstudios
good thoughts.
Basicly what the bible says about us as christians..."where are you?
God asks that question...not because he doesn't know..but to make us think
dominoeangel 10 months ago
@crosswalkstudios That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, and there is as much truth in as a grain of salt. First, we no longer live under the Old Testament law, we live by the law of Grace (Christianity 101). Second, how does one go about "entering" into the presence of the omnipresent God.. you best be wearing your monkey suit all day haha. Third do you not realize that God "dwells in a temple not made with hands." If you go to church to "enter" God's presence then you missed the point...
sellison08 9 months ago
@sellison08 May I remind you, Mat. 5:17 "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil." and Rev. 15:8 "And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God, and from his power; and no man was able to enter into the temple..." So yes, the Law still matters (Jesus said so), and God's presence can be tangible if He wants it to be. I do to Church to worship God the best I can, and that entails wearing the best I have.
crosswalkstudios 9 months ago
@crosswalkstudios Thanks for the reminder but I will send that back your way, Jesus did not destroy the Law but He fulfilled it, as He said "It is finished." He also said, "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart...Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets." And are you really quoting rev. 15:8 as a proof for anything lol, if you read the verse in context it clearly has nothing to do with what you are using it for...
sellison08 9 months ago
@crosswalkstudios And yes God's presence can be anything He wants it to be but that does not make it so lol, he appeared in a burning bush so are bushes holy now.. absolutely not. If you want to experience God go sit under a tree lol. Or how about you simply be still and know that He is God. I bet you don't even know what worship is considering that you go to church to "do it." What a shame.
sellison08 9 months ago
@crosswalkstudios Lastly a house of hypocrites has nothing to do with God's presence except maybe the lack of it. And again I fail to see proof of why wearing your best is God commanded, so just be honest and say that you don't know because I'm sure that you are just following the tradition that was handed down to you from other Christians who knew no better. I sympathize with you all, but then again must "Christians" don't actually care about God anyway. I'm glad Paul isn't here to the see this
sellison08 9 months ago
@sellison08 You are missing my point completely. The only reason I quoted Revelation is to prove that God's presence CAN be tangible. you said, and I quote, "how does one go about "entering" into the presence of the omnipresent God." I wear my best to Church out of respect, and I really don't appreciate you judging my motives for going to Church.
you said,"I fail to see proof of why wearing your best is God commanded" and I simply say that God DESERVES our best. Need there be a better reason?
crosswalkstudios 9 months ago
@sellison08 Its not so much that it is commanded, and if you go back and look through ALL of the comments I have made, I have condemned no one for expressing an apposing view, as you have (see the end of your last 2 comments.) and I have NEVER claimed that it was commanded, but doesn't God DESERVE it? Why wouldn't you want to show him your best? If you wish to discuss this further, I'm sure everyone would appreciate it if we did it through messages instead. May God bless!
crosswalkstudios 9 months ago
@iZykle
haha exactly .
Though it is sad that we would be excited to dress nice on a date...but try and pick the worst stuff in our closet so our brothers and sister won't think "I am legalistic".
Gotta balance and examine where our love is
dominoeangel 10 months ago
@iZykle Well, I understand your point, but there is such thing as a dress code. You aren't gonna go to a church with a sleeveless shirt and sandals just because you would dress like that daily. See the point I'm making?
ImLikeEpic 9 months ago
@iZykle I dont really think so, we dress up for special occasions like weddings, birthdays, holidays, etc, & we dont call that hypocritical. I think going to Jesus sanctuary is a special occasion, but it doesnt have to be expressed in clothing, but a heart of praise. Obviously is a personal decision, I wear jeans & sandals sometimes, sometimes a dress. But I agree, if you feel that if something isnt appropriate to wear in church, we probably shouldnt wear it elsewhere.
lyssayellowsquid 8 months ago
@iZykle Maybe, maybe not, I understood Sunday best as best for the Lord. At least that is the argument I've been given for it. regardless of what you wear modesty and humility is key. God bless
chrisgood2go 6 months ago
@iZykle I agree..therefore - present your best before a holy, sovereign God when in the house of worship. We go to interviews with our best to impress the potential employer...and dressing for your Lord (not to impress man) in church is good too...why not? ITS ALL ABOUT OUR INTENTIONS. Do the best you can to present yourself clean and respectful before the Lord. MY OPINION
Excellence337 1 month ago
I can see this message goes much deeper than just the clothes. But I'll say two things.
1. "Well... I woulda let you into Heaven.. but you wear jeans on Sunday, what's up with that? A a T-shirt? Tsk, c'mon... FLIP FLOPS!? C'mon, you shoulda spent that $100 you gave to the needy on suit and tie!" (I think you get my point).
2. It's where your heart is. Is it the hands of God? Or tucked away in an Armony suit?
Funny, I made a video on this topic :P
mikeyboy86 3 years ago
lol aint it odd.. the Father made us as perfect beings... pure and oh ya naked... not only that but he said it is good. even more so what is the first thing sinful man did? fashion clothing. personally i believe it is offensive to deem any clothing worthy or unworthy to worship God in as its sole purpose is to cover his creation. now with that said i dont advocate nudity as we are to honor the laws of the land. just food for though from a guy who goes to church in board shorts a tee and barefoot
akonikoukoheki 3 years ago

mikeyboy86 3 years ago
well this is a tricky topic i really dont know about the dress part i think that the reason that you dress up has nothing to do with God but since you're going to see a lot of people you want to look nice. the thing about staying at church all day that's something that i think is not necessary as long as u keep focused on God. music wise the newer songs reach me more than anything but i think that's a generational thing because im only 13

how we look or dress; he loves the person in shorts just as much as the person in a suit and tie.

I have become all things to all people, so that by all means I may save some.
akonikoukoheki 3 years ago

God's love isn't dependent on
yesiam7 3 years ago
God sees us every hour of every day. Why should you dress up to see Him? Isn't that being fake? I don't think you need to go to church for hours on end to worship God. Go, be in community, praise in community, and then go live in the community. Love God, then do as you please. (St. Augustine). It's just a matter of opinion, go do as you see fit and leave others alone.

jackskellingtonsora 3 years ago
but don't you think that you should LOOK respectable too...GOD is a jealous God...he wants us to give him the honor and respect he deserves...THRU ALL THINGS...not just songs and teachings...but with EVERYTHING we do...and that includes how we dress...talk...act...etc....
rizetochka 3 years ago
My opinion is that God looks at the heart, not at the outward appearance (Which is what the Bible says). And if I am who He created me to be, why should I change who I am by putting on my 'Sunday best' every Sunday instead of just being who He loves to begin with.... me.
mikeyboy86 3 years ago
i totally understand that you can praise God in whatever way you see fit, as long as you follow his comandments and his teachings (ie going to church every sunday etc) but you need to remember this, this is God we are talking about, the supreme being in the universe who created YOU for the sole reason of because he loved you before there was time. i'm pretty sure he deserves more then just one hour on sundays. which is why traditional things are so beautiful, they show a reverence not seen today
