@davyjones800 Actually, you're wrong. The VW Group own Audi and Lamborghini, and the R8 and Gallardo use virtually the same 5.2L V10 engine, and both engines are made at the same plant in Hungary. The only real differences are engine programming, intake, and exhaust in the Lamborghini.

The R8's new 5.2L V10 descends from the collaborative design effort between Lamborghini and Audi, hence it having more in common with the Gallardo.

@gfromtha713 not sure why it revs up to that though, the max engine output actually comes at 8000 rpm (525 hp). Wouldn't really make sense to push it up to 8700 when you're just losing power.

Actually, these days, 100hp/liter is nothing. Honda got 125hp/liter from their F20C engine and that one was pretty robust. With the advent of direct gasoline injection and computer-modelled airflow design, 100hp/liter is a cakewalk.

I did not really liked the design of this R8. I watched its numerous videos online not untill i saw one personally at the sunset with its LED's ON.
And that was the day when i had my views altogether changed. It has a mesmerizing looks that you simply can not ignore.

@gfromtha713 not sure why it revs up to that though, the max engine output actually comes at 8000 rpm (525 hp). Wouldn't really make sense to push it up to 8700 when you're just losing power.

Ferraris don't burn out clutches because the engine is fragile, they burn out clutches because they're driven the way people who buy Ferraris drive them.

Actually, these days, 100hp/liter is nothing. Honda got 125hp/liter from their F20C engine and that one was pretty robust. With the advent of direct gasoline injection and computer-modelled airflow design, 100hp/liter is a cakewalk.

In the end it's a matter of personal taste. we all love different cars for different reasons. Maybe for hardcore drivers the R8 is a bit off, but for a normal driver it's 100% perfect. it depends how do you approach it really.

Audi R8 is one of my best cars of all time, BUT when a Nissan GT-R that is heavier than the R8 by more than 200kg and have four seats and smaller engine but manage to beat the R8 in straight line and corners and cost almost half the price. now that's VERY BAD. Ferrari got their act together and lunched the new 458, let's hope Audi do something about the R8.

Audi has made the R8 V10 less powerful on purpose, so it won't affect the LP560 market. what a shame to be overtaken by a Nissan GT-R or a Vette ZR-1.
Shame on you Audi, you've ruined the most perfect supercar ever.
