China made airplane after WW2. As asian Japan was special. Actually military division was not adult . But technology and study was exellent even in that era.

its sad really, the japanese planes had simple tin fuel tanks and so when shot just behind the wings (fuel tanks) the planes lit up like a candle and exploded.

according to my grandfather, who was a ww2 veteran, japanese warplanes are like flying ducks who could easily be targeted by m-1 garand rifle. many of these fighter planes were brought down my american G.i. at the end of the war...

Unlikely. It is very hard for an infantryman to lead their shots enough on a speeding fighter to bring it down. Imagine shooting a bullseye moving at several hundred mph that's about 20-30,000 feet in the air and that's what trying to shoot down a fighter is like.
