I agree with you on not blaming all radar devices. The traffic radar program is a valuable tool to reduce excessive speed on the road. The PSP problem was that the gun ran on 12 VDC from the vehicles battery. On top of that was 1.5 VAC of 15 KHz alternator whine. 15. Khz registers 70 MPH on the display. Rather than spend $30.00 per vehicle to install a simple LC filter (that completely eliminated the AC component). The PSP decided cover up the whole affair.
I used a much bigger radar set in the army for tracking objects on teh ground, determining speed etc and in my experience it takes a lot to tamper with your signal, like pointing another radar at your set (like when we scanned past airports) or in specific jamming apparatus. I think people hate these radar guns because they hate getting tickets and conceding authority to police. I think banning these guns because under certain conditions they may fail is like banning cars because some crash
The radar guns in use today are perfectly accurate when operated on a pure DC source. The problem with PSP radar guns is the amount of noise (alternator whine) that is riding on the DC line.
This could happen with any vehicle but was found to be most prevalent in the Ford Crown Vic, due to the size of the continuous current load on the charging system. With miles of wiring inside the vehicle, problems like this occur regularly.
A lot of talk, but nothing that would prove the electromagnetic interference is not causing bad speed readings to occur. The question is not whether A SINGLE radar gun CAN measure vehicle's speed correctly in the presence of EMI, but rather whether ALL such radar guns ALWAYS make accurate speed measurements in the presence of the EMI. If even one unit has been observed making bad measurements it is reason to suspect the entire fleet of guns need to be modified to address this issue.
Thank you wb3iny. PSP was not denying that radar units were exhibiting the frequency interference. The COMPLETE version of this video demonstrates a radar unit showing the interference, and one that doesn't. When a vehicle enters the zone of influence, BOTH radar units show the identical speed of the passing vehicle. However words like COVERUP sell newspaper. Show the WHOLE video and then let people decide.
Need I remind you sir that YOU posted the incomplete version of this video that proves the PSP case. You sir, are the cover up artist. The sad fact that you have to bring your case to YouTube shows how desperate you are for attention. My name appears at the end of the COMPLETE version of this video if you need further explanation of the radar test. Until then I am done with you. By the way, we didn't go to the moon either, the Kennedy shooting was a conspiracy, and the Easter Bunny is real.
I am not sure what freq noise is nor was this ever discussed in my formal education however as a microwave engr, it is possible for auto altenator noise (or whine) to be interjected on the 12VDC system. This whine can be heard on am/fm radios with out proper filtering. A radar gun (or any other car powered device) can be affected without proper filtering. The troopers (off the record) need to be interviewed.
The video was posted to show how far the PSP will go to cover up their lies. Any high school electronics student knows there isn't a word or effect called Frequency noise. You might find it interesting that Guth Labs received quite a lot of money for a radar calibration contract after this video was made. You might ask morgan 5436 about the secret results of the PA inspector generals office into the radargate coverup. Do a google search on John Shingara to seek the truth.
No need to google Mr. Shingara because I worked with him sir. You did not answer my question. Where is the rest of this video that you posted? There is a section where 1 radar unit exhibiting the noise is placed side by side with another radar unit not exhibiting the noise. When a speeding vehicle passes by, both radar units read the exact same speed. The interference by the vehicle's alternator has no effect on the speed being read. Post the rest of the video.
Why don't you post the rest of the video. It will only make the case. You don't just test one unit. Some worked and some didn't The troopers reported that fact. Also, Mr. Guth and genisis radar worked on this very same problem in 1999 and provided a temp fix before the public could find out about. The facts are available, The PSP lied and you are part of the coverup. Be a man and admit it!
What Morgan5436 fails to show you is the REST of the video that actually SHOWS what Mr. Guth is talking about. How do I know? I produced the video. The noise generated by the alternator of the patrol vehicle has no effect on the radar units speed reading. Nice try Morgan. Please report a fair and impartial story next time. The reputation of the Pennsylvania State Police depends on it. You obviously have received one too many speeding tickets. Please slow down, it saves lives.
This totally explains why people shouldn't go they way the do when doing the things that they are attempting to do and at the various times that those things are being attempted.

There is no such thing as "frequency noise", it is just a made up word to hide the fact that the PSP has a very large problem. Shingara is right!
