  • Holy. Shit. I think he might've outplayed Clapton a bit on that solo. Both musical and technical; incredible.

  • Why are you people even comparing this version to the original? Seriously, it's not like they intended to topple the Beatles! XD

  • Paul gave the audience what it wanted, that's all. Did you hear the cheer when he did a little shred to test the audience? He knew then that he had the green light to unleash the Kraken!!! Shred on Paul and thanks for all your great tips brother!!!

  • For 7 minutes, Paul Gilbert got George Harrison jealous!

  • The tabs for these solos must be somewhere in the bible.

  • Thats a guitar fucking solo!

  • @KingCrimson776 I bet you didn't even listen to the song.

  • @KingCrimson776 dude.... not cool... relax please... if you dont have something nice to say don't say anything at all (;

  • gilbert beat the beatles like grand funk did to them too

  • @traslomita lol @ grand funk

  • Awesome!

  • George Harrison would be proud of Paul Gilbert, that's for sure.

  • since when playing technically destroys things when you know how to use your technique and put your soul into the music?!

beatles fanboys, always thinking that the only reason they didn't use techniques on their songs was because they didn't want to!

sry, they couldn't play like pg... yeah they were good composers, not genious as people tend to think, mostly george, the really great composer of the band! but as far as execution of the song, this is the real deal... learn not to be idiots

  • just because you see that shitty mab playing ultra technical speed shit with nonsense techniques you think: "onoes sum1 uzesss techniques so they no got soulz0rs"

he's well aware of what he's doing there, and he's not doing it just for the sake of technique, he's showing how much he enjoys playing it, with flawless technique, clean, and not a single not needed note on the solo!

learn what music is before posting please! ^^

  • @Picurs

can't tell if trolling or just extremely retarded. you actually believe eric clapton (who palyed the original solo) and george harrison couldn't play what that guy plays. Its good and hes a good guitarist, but he did go a little overboard and george harrison and eric clapton are some of the best guitarists ever. To say this guy is better, and call the beatles anything short of geniuses, shows a complete lack of understanding towards musical theory and composing.

  • @aussie4life96 but he make the song better than them is a fact. he improve the old ford t from harrison and turn a ford cobra out of it,

  • @traslomita

whether he makes the song better or not is your opinion not a fact. I didn't like it because the song is while my guitar gently weeps, not while my guitar gently shreds. This sort of solo is much more suited to a more heavier rock/blues song, not a Harrison song. Clapton was better because his tone and timing suited the song better. Still a good solo (better then me), but Clapton did it better

  • @aussie4life96 Exactly. They're not there to replicate the original songs and play them exactly how they were recorded -- and I'm sure that's not how Harrison and Clapton would want it done. The fact is that they're there to entertain and put on a good show, which is exactly what they did. The audience loved the solo.

  • Way to ruin the solo part, mr. Gilbert!

  • Ruined a good solo by making it overly technical.

  • @Horvat It was entertaining, dumbass.

  • @metcalf1690 Well that's, like, your opinion, man. Dumbass.

  • @Horvat And, well that's, like, your opinion, man. Dumbass. Idiot.

  • @menion385 U MAD BRO?

  • @Horvat U LONELY BRO?

  • while my guitar viciously melts your face !

  • That guitar didnt gently weep, it ripped my face off.

  • Jeff Daniels! 00:40

  • this band has done only 5 gigs

thts cuz thyre a beatles cover group

  • NO MMAMMES, QUE WEN SOLO CSMR"!""""!!!!!!!! GREAT SOLO GUITAR, IT´S THE BEST SOLO!!

  • this may be one of the greatest solos of all time

  • God bless Paul for wearing an MC5 shirt!

  • I'm 60 years old and have NEVER seen a more awesome guitarist as Paul Gilbert , Personally,I've been playing guitar since age 9 and I am convinced that if God granted me another 60 years on this earth I couldn't play like Paul. THANK YOU Paul for inspiring even old rockers like me. :-)

  • I guess that's how Jimmy Page's playing would sound like if he were a 1980's virtuoso.

  • Best live guitar solo I've geared. I can't beleive how few views this has?

  • @popsiejo I can't believe Lady Gaga has as many views as Gilberto should. There's really something wrong with the world. But how can you argue with proper publicity, and shitty music?

  • With that solo, Paul Gilbert made himself the best living guitarist on the planet.

  • wow, this is great

  • 6 people have either no ears or no soul.... IN-FUCKIN-CREDIBLE

Portnoy and Gilbert are both LEGENDS!

  • Five dislikes? You better turn your sound on!

  • Is that an action figure on the mic stand?

  • @ViperRob42 it is a mini Ringo... they all have their respective Beatle by them...

  • @ViperRob42 it is a mini Ringo... they all have their respective Beatle by them... the models are like the Yellow Submarine cartoon characters...

  • Beast.

  • paul gilbert is the tits

  • @AIRampage what is tits?

  • I see there were 5 people who voted "Didn't like" or whatever... How in the world could you not like this song and the way these guys performed it unless your a musical retard... I have this DVD and the whole thing rules!! I'm a beatles fan and I like everybody on that stage.. Gilbert is an awesome guitar player and he rules this solo.. (Sorry Eric Clapton) LOL. Incase u didn't know Eric Clapton plays the lead on the Beatles version...

  • EL MEJOR COVER QUE HE ESCUCHADO

  • The solo sends chills down my spine.

  • I wish every person in the world could watch this guitar solo.

  • you can cover as in I wish I was you or you can cover as in wow that sounds righteous to me and then.....have not just that but something else to say...my boy Mike Kraft is trying to convince me that gilbert is the greatest ever but you know there's all kinds of greater....but yeah, getting close baby

  • beginning of guitar solo 3:30 thumbs up if you thought yes, paul soloing over a brilliant chord progression for 3 and a half minutes

  • This solo almost rivals John Petrucci's Hollow Years live at Budokan...Absolutely aural sex

  • I thought this couldn't get any better than the first time I watched it. Then I got stoned. I was wrong

  • only one man can do harmonics with his teeth!!

  • 1:16 I GOT IT RIGHT!!!

  • Mr Gilberto, !

One of the all time greats !!

  • i will say it again...DAMN!! This dude is brilliant!

  • Damn!

  • its songs like this that should have 30 million views, not rebecca blacks "friday"

  • The bass player looks like Adrian Belew.

  • The song gave me shivers up my spine. Electrifying!

  • the video doesn't do this performance justice. I was there and the crowd went absolutely NUTS during the last solo. I mean NUTS. You can't hear on the audio but the place was electric - people were standing up in their booth seats and cheering when this was over.

  • Im absolutely floored..!!...That may have been the coolest thing ive ever seen..!!

  • I looed at the guitarist i was like yeah, looks like its an ibanez... looks like Gilberts Ibanez... HOLY SHIT ITS PAUL!

  • Pure Paul Gilbert !!!

  • Comment removed

  • Holy sh*t that was good... Paul tore it up but still kept it respectful and tasteful for the tune...I thought Prince at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was epic until I saw this!!!

  • @TacomaGraphicArtist I had exactly that same thought!

  • WOW What a solo O.O

  • Comment removed

  • 300 people had to pick their face up off the floor - 4:27

  • Comment removed

  • Gilbert: while my guitar gently weeps, sweeps, shreds and destroys!

  • @wairtonjr sweeps? erm no. sweeping is lazy, Gilbert sweeps with his teeth and in his sleep! Alternate picking FTW! Gilbert Still destroys!

  • To be fair - it's all gonna be musos at that gig and they want to see virtuosity considering the line up! All of these guys can tone it down or crank it up easily and during a whole gig you'd see both sides.

  • P gilbert shows us that you can be both fast and emotional while playing guitar

  • WHERE´S THE EPIC BUTTON???

  • WHERE´S THE EPIC BUTTON???

  • Sorry, but that solo just kills the song. WAY too overblown (tribute or no tribute).

  • Awesome guitar solo. George would have been very proud!!!

  • @omfgandy i think portnoys just trying to build on the song and play more of a rythm than a beat for the song in a sense there both soloing but ya portnoy even though he's my favourite drummer is over doing it with some of teh fills

  • If I were Clapton I'd be feeling pretty silly right now.

  • @antonio610 :-D

  • @antonio610 You're really fucked up. Indeed, I'm pretty fucking sure that Paul Gilbert would slap you if he could read that you wrote. You're insane. Be respectul, bitch.

  • @dermisdaniel Gilbert seems like a nice enough chap that he wouldn't slap anybody. Yeah, this solo was better than the original. I also think some music is better than music that preceded it, that some covers destroy the original songs, and that Eric Clapton released a fair amount of subpar corny music in his day (mostly 80's). Gonna call me a bitch, internet tough guy?

  • @antonio610 Loool. Certainly, Gilbert seems to be really nice and i don't think he would be hirting nobody. I'm really sorry, man. I'm not that kind of troll. It's just that when i read something unpleasant about Beatles, Clapton, Queen, etc. I get really cocky. I guess this a better solo in a lot of ways, but i die for the feeling and the blues over the shredding. That's it. I didn't ment to insult you. Creo que entiendes español también. Lo siento, pana. Mis más venezolanas disculpas.

  • @dermisdaniel You know, I absolutely LOVE Clapton's work with Cream. Disraeli Gears is probably amongst my top 10 favorite albums, and Wheels of Fire my top 20. The problem is nearly everything I've heard from him since then is devoid of energy, and IMO lifeless. He has a lot of fans out there, and some feel his style epitomizes "emotional" playing. I on the other hand couldn't care less about anything he's produced since Cream. I don't see him as deserving of guitar God status.

  • @wlmason73 I agree and don't forget his work with John Mayall, The Yardbirds... Can't believe when I hear him today it's the same guy.. You say "IMO lifeless" yeah, I agree

  • Keep in mind they're tributing the Beatles, not copying. This leaves room for creativity.

With this solo the guitar is not only "weeping", it's on it's knees crying out in a torrential rainstorm.

  • puts clapton's original solo to shame

  • This is amazing.

  • I think Gilbert is Messi's brother!

  • @dementelapa

    i agree :)

  • Bad ass guitar playing.

  • Pretty outrageous stuff - WOW !!

  • Only a fraction as famous as Paul McCartney, but Mr. Neal Morse is every bit as talented as any member of the fab four - his origional stuff is incredible.

  • That guitar isn't weeping. It's in floods of tears. PG is one of the last few great guitarists on earth who can make a guitar truly cry like it was meant to.

  • his guitar weeps epicly

anywho, to anyone who thinks he ruined the solo by playing fast and stuff, i've seen covers where they just try to make it sound kool but in the end all they're really doing is playing something completely different that doesn't fit with the song at all. However, i think this guy played epicly without taking away that Beatles feeling to it. I think the man did a great job. Also, respect for Mike for playing in a Beatles tribute band. xD

    "What will he do next?"

    *like*

  • what a kick ass solo!

  • what a fucking great solo!

  • You talk all the time on the Prince!? But nobody talks about the composer of this musical masterpiece, GEORGE HARRISON??

OK. If the Prince did a fantastic solo in this song, the guitarist also did this clip, but the key is this song, which is beautiful and its author, George Harrison ... Please!

  • Well, my dear friends, I think that George Harrison could hear this interpretation of his music, I would be happy. It is an absolutely orgasmic guitar solo!

    Wow!

  • BEAUTIFUL! WONDERFUL! Interpretation intense and perfect. George Harrison was the greatest composer of "The Beatles". This song is an apology to any guitarist. Soul and passion in the hands of the guitarist. Truly, the guitar cries as the world turns and we are moved and vibrate

with a song like that. Long live George Harrison and his masterpiece "While my guitar gently weeps. " Thanks, Paul Gilbert!

  • the solo is not a patch on prince....sorry...the feeling prince puts into the rock n roll performance is way better than this....there is more to playing the guitar than playing fast...great music comes from within and prince is genuine musical genius..this solo has nothing to do with the the song...the guitar is supposed to be weeping ? ...not sounding like its getting the shit kicked out of it ?

  • @blackboab2004 So his musical expression is incorrect since it's not your cup of tea, musically this is right down the lane, and he is putting feeling into this in his own style, just because it's fast doesn't mean it's soulless, and if your opinion differs, no harm, it's an opinion that's why it's sometimes best we keep them to ourselves.

  • @blackboab2004 That's because you can't interpret music or guitar solos for crap. You have no idea about phrasing.

  • unreal. tuning down at the end blew my mind.

  • Paul Gilbert Rules!!!!!

  • I <3 Paul Gilbert. This is SOOOOO much better than the over-hyped Prince version. This is certainly among the greatest rock guitar solo's ever laid down, and so few people even know about it.

  • more like while my guitar has a screaming orgasm

  • watch?v=1mycNuuJalA

  • That sent chills up my spine. Paul did that which such respect too.

  • That's a great guitar solo. I know Prince did a great solo on this song but holy crap! These guys really did the music of the Beatles justice.

  • WOW!! He just flat out ripped on that guitar!! Ooo-ohh, my neighbors would hate me, if I could play like that!

  • That guitar wasn't gently weeping, it was screaming bloody murder !!!!!!! Awesome.

  • now that portnoy is out of DT he should definetely work with gilbert...

  • good musicians and excellent guitar work... best players are the ones that make it look easy .

  • That's true music

  • that was the longest damn solo!! aha.

but damn it was .. i cant evn put into words

  • It is personnally my best "shred semi improv solo"(haha precise!!) of couse kind of by the rules but I don't think that in this particular song extreme technicality is not necessary..Paul puts his heart in this solo and not his ego...Brought a tear to my eye..!!!

  • that was ah solo... totally improvised i heard... wtf??? pinch harmonic with his teeth!!!!!

  • His guitar really made me weep....

  • Best guitar solo ever. Seriously, it has everything you could possibly want. Emotion, technique, drama, melody. Perfection.

  • @mrporter2u

    Darn fine comment.

  • @GuitarMirth Damn fine comment, sir!

  • @mrporter2u You're right. There's such an urgency about this song -- George and his chords.

  • ang galing bwisit!

  • Makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand up !!

  • Omfg!! that solo was totally AWESOME!!!

  • That drumset is way too small for poor mike :(

  • This is epic. And immense. And gorgeous. Blimey.

  • The 3 people who disliked this are retarded.

  • @SleepwalkDrama completely agreed.

  • @SleepwalkDrama chill chill, they probably misclicked

  • @SleepwalkDrama i prefer to believe it was a wrong click cause no one can be that retard

  • Este es el mejor solo en vivo que se le ha hecho a esta canción.

Y uno de los mejores solos que he escuchado en mi vida musical, simplemente... Paul Gilbert pasó a un estrado mayor con esto.

    Sí pues, me emociono xD

  • With this band i found my love to this song !

  • That's the best lead guitar ever played on this classic song!

  • I wonder what guitar was PG playing with here? Can anyone tell me pls!

  • @bonggtexe Ibanez RG

  • @falconer333 thank u there!

  • @falconer333 It was an Ibanez PGM, actually.

  • @neilomac Well sorry mate, I was just trying to help a brother out. The shape is exactly the same as an RG. "PGM" is purely a marketing gimmick.

  • @bonggtexe its his sig ibby pgm.

  • I can't think of a way this could be more epic.

  • my dad duheaduheaduhdueahd

  • haha i like the reactions of the crowd each time Paul Gilbert is playing an incredible stuff during his solo.

  • Paulo Gilberto!!!! <3 <3 <3 insane.....i cant get enough of this song....

  • i just soiled my pants

  • @Saintuana you don't tap actually.. you pick and simultaneously let your thumb mute out those overtones and the strings vibrate around the node like a normal harmonic. there's a reason why they call it 'pinch' harmonic...

  • This is about the best cover of this song I've ever heard!

  • absolutely brilliant

  • this walks over Claptons original contribution

  • this solo is just sooooo brilliant... The way it builds and builds and builds and then explodes!!

  • greatest shredder of all time!

  • HOLY SHIT!!! the note at 2:24 is fucking -------- there is no word for what that note sounds like.

    takes me somewhere else....

  • its called a pinch harmonic and he did it by tapping the string.

  • Thats not showing off. It all supports the melody. Furthermore when Gilbert Looks up and shakes his head from side to side, hes in the zone, and thats where the magic starts. You probably just want him to play the original solo, but then the music wouldnt evolve. five stars.

  • @pertrucci INFINITE STARS!

He's so in the zone, as u put it before.

  • @pertrucci

    Darn fine comment.

  • PAUL GILBERT FOR THE WIN!

  • @drummerCJP FO SHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • I have just one word to say about this perfromance. WOW!!!. Paul Gilbert's playing just leave me speechless he is that good. But the rest of the band do a good job also. Brilliant stuff from a brilliant covers band.
