I was born and breed in Lawrence Kansas, I am 54 now. I partied with Steve and Stienhardt back in 72' before they got big...watched them at the old opera house in Lawrence Kansas...rock on brothers of the south land.
Saw them in Vancouver BC opening for Bad Company, I went to see Bad Company, never heard of Kansas. When they came on and played Icarus, Born on Wings of Steel I had goosebumbs, that was back in the 70's and I have never looked back, my favorite band of all time and I am a professional musician. Oh, Paul Rogers first comment went Bad Co went on was " we are not quite that complicated!!!!! Steve Walsh is indeed Kanas. hope they come back to Vancouver BC, I will take my daughter

If possible please add "serious wreckage" - what a powerful song with a climax that combines very emotional lyrics with a heavy yet melodic sound. I believe the song may have been about himself to some extent but can't confirm that.
Question: what CD is this song on? Also, is there anything new since "Faule Dr Roane"?? Steve has been my fav singer for many years...really wish he'd put out more solo stuff along the same lines as "Glossolalia." Please write me if answering, as I don't check these comments out...
Been to every Kansas concert in my area, just saw them last year and this man, Steve Walsh, is the main reason I see them time and time again ! This song just sends chills through me!
BTW, Why the hell aren't these guys in the Rock Hall of Fame ? Just goes to show you where most peoples musical taste lies !
I wish I was Steves brother. I'd be so proud. I'm proud to be a fan. God Bless you Steve. You will alway's be in my heart and I pray that your life is fullfilled . Thank you from someone who gets pissed when a talent like you is over looked from mainstream. HGH3rd
I understand you. But know Steve was into being overlooked. Keyboard magazine wanted him to do interviews for years and he said no to it. We all know what he is all about - his true followers ! J.S.Bach was underrated when he was alive ! He has nothing to prove.
Sounds like you know him personally .I kind of understand what you mean, but still it would of been nice to see him more often.Maybe his own show on VH-1 or something. I know ,that sounded ridiculous.
Even though Steve has lost some tone and range, at his 1/2 best he's still better than the overwhelming majority of rock vocalists out there especially those his age.
Love this song its off od glossalia very nice instramental work on this with his former band member from Streeets Mike Slamer thanks for sharing this !!
Have you heard Shadowman? It's really good, I like it even more than glossalia. I love KD also by btw...thought I was the only weirdo that liked Steve Walsh and Kim Bendix Petersen. Guess not.
Don't know, I downloaded the torrent so I don't have liner notes. It's more straight forward rock, that's for sure. It came out in 2005 but i just got it this year. It was on my MP3 player all summer.
Well I didn't exactly "get" everything you were trying to convey in the slide show, credit to you for picking one of the absolutely most amazing melancholy songs ever written for your work. Thanks for sharing it with us on line.

Haha... Kansas Is it the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, Know your facts... -.-
fjunigapresten 2 years ago 3
There's two reasons Kansas isn't in the Hall of Fame, despite the amount of hits that fit two CD's.
1)Marketing-Record Labels didn't help them much in that area
2)The Band Doesn't really care
btw if you like this song you should check out the recent album by all members of Kansas except Steve and Kerry
released June 09, called Native Window, base player Billy Greer surprised everyone, well at least me, in singing, wow, he's amazing.

This WONDERFUL song was written for his daughter when she was a baby. He wrote it while she was in his arms! I makes me cry every time!

It's on my copy of Glossolalia, don't know why it's not on yours. In 2005 he put out another solo disc called Shadowman it's friggin great.
