I had the privilege to be at the front row of a JD concert in Northampton England in 1994. When he sang this song it was truly amazing, the emotion he put into the song was breathtaking. The memory of that night will live with me forever. R.I.P. John.
WOW!! So many of JD's song's sung us home. He hit each note, brought it to life, touched us. Thank each one that helped JD in recording such heartfelt songs. What was precious, it was JD, that VOICE that hit every note. Loved watching him play his guitar. Could set it on fire. Thank each, for sharing.
@catbrush123 Absolutely thankful for this song... I think it's the power of positive thinking.. it's life that we should think of.It's religion without being religious, just believe in virtues and that's..consolation.
I've heard this song many times but never viewed the video. It is truly a master piece of fine art. You have created a video that will stay in my heart forever. Thank you.

@MsJen58 Thank you very much for your kind comment. I too have been a JD fan since my teens and although there are many many other artists I love to listen to I always go back to him.. There is something about him that is special. Thank you again. :-)
This is one of my favorite JD songs, it has always given me goosebumps and always chokes me up with tears whenever I hear it. I was at John's funeral in Aurora, cried during this song and cried again when it was sung at my friend Dian's funeral. It is like listening to a beautiful hymm, simply one of his best. I so miss him being here and sharing his beautiful voice with all of us who loved him, his songs and everything he stood for. He was one of the greatest gifts in my life. Thanks for postin
I've been asked to play/sing this song at my uncle's funeral, and I have no idea how I'm going to do it without bawling. :( I love this song so much..
This song ended John's memorial service at his mothers church in Aurora CO. A plane with John's ashes was flying in the mountains near Aspen, as this song reached its zenith they recieved the radio call to release his ashes. RIP my friend..
I am a lifelong John Denver fan. I have always said this is the song I want played at my funeral. It speaks to how I feel about humanity and our relationship to one another as human beings. A beautiful song...
Catbrush, this is one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard and I would like to ask you a favor. I have not had success finding the album anywhere and really would like to use this song for a tribute I am planning for a reunion. Is there a way you can email me the song as an MP3 file so I can burn it to a CD and mix it onto the tribute DVD? You can email me at: falconcrestbook@yahoo.com
@Skybird1970 - if catbrush123 hasn't responded yet, you can go to amazon.com, put these words into the search box, "john denver fly us home mp3", and you will see in the results that you can buy a high quality mp3 of this song for 99 cents.
catbrush123 Thank you for putting this together. Great pictures. I've looked for this song in the past with no results. It's one of my favorites out of many, many JD songs. I saw JD in concert 3 times. The best was in Detroit Oct 1977 for world hunger with Harry Chapin, James Taylor and Gorden Lightfoot. What a show. I think of the great songs we've missed with John's early passing. Sure do miss him.
WOW! I am in the the process of converting all my old LPs to digital format using a USB turntable. This is one of the songs I just converted. What a great memory this song is. And a very pretty video to go with it. Thank you, John. And thanks to Joe Henry for the lyrics. RIP, John.
Theres only one word for this video-Gorgous! Even though its been over 14 years
since John died, there are still times when I can't quite believe that sweet, clear, high voice is gone for good.We miss you more than you'll ever know,John ! R.I.P.\ patybear
Out of allllll the hundreds of John songs that i have loved over many many years this has always been, and i think always will be my most favorite song by my beloved John. Close your eyes, sit calmly, listen to this song and i can gaurentee you'll feel theeee most high and natural drug ever, as the song goes on it surgess throu your body, giving you the most wonderful feel good feeling ever (well it does for me ;) )
I feel exactly the same about this song, there is something so soothing and spiritual in the music..I love almost every John Denver song but this one is especially powerful and beautiful. I'd enjoy exchanging emails & discussing this song. Not sure how to do it though, I'm new to this site.
wow!!! i had never heard this song before - it is absolutely fantastic and the video is the most beautiful i have ever seen. i think John really was an angel amongst us and he has left us many inspiring messages.
@MsButterflyuk You are so right. Absolutely love each and every song of John Denver and I've never found any music that could make me feel like this... :) And this song is a beautiful and wonderful example of that.
This song is so beautiful. The video is so fitting for the song, very nice. The song reminds me first of my childhood and then when my 19 year old son was a baby I used to "sing" it, along with Today, to him. I can't really sing, but my baby didn't know that, lol. Anyway, so good to hear it again. Thanks, Cat, for posting it!
Beautiful video! Thanks for sharing. I have loved this song and dwelt deeply on the messages in it. I believe the "spirit" referred to is our higher power, whatever you choose to call that: in my case, God. "It lives within each part and is the whole." What a beautiful thought that is!
This song was played at Erma Deutschendorf's funeral in January. Erma is John's mom, she was a great lady. She is missed and so is John. We love you John and Erma RIP
this song in memory of my best friend beau mayer who was killed in a 3 wheeler accident at the age of 16 we still miss you buddy! and john denver too may you both now and forever rest in peace
I think this is the most beautiful John Denver song even though I love them all. RIP John. He taught us to respect our beautiful world. Thank you for posting this for all to enjoy. My soul feels this one deeply.
Catbrush, thank-you for putting together this beautiful video. I am a big fan of all John's music, but this song especially touches my heart, and brings a tear to my soul.
Thank-you again Marion for doing a wonderful job on making this beautiful video in memory of John . His voice is one of a kind. I will miss him dearly but thanks to those whom love John Denver will continue to share his lovely songs with pictures to match his words of wisdom & love :) ~Ava~
I have decided that if anything happens to me, I want this played at the end of my memorial. I am having "Perhaps Love", dedicated to my family, played at the beginning. Hopefully, I will not be going anywhere for a long time, but I wanted my children to know.
Tears flow for me again as I listen to John. A beautiful lady that worked so hard along with us on our reunion passed away this way, and she didn't even know she was ill untill 6 weeks before she passed away. We went to school together from first to graduation. We can't take life for granted. We have to live each day to the fullest. God Bless everyone. I am going to use this song for the closing of my memorial when the time comes.
Tears flowed again today listening to John's beautiful song. Our graduating class lost a beautiful lady this week. She worked very hard along with the rest of us this summer to prepare for our class reunion. Three months later she is gone. She only found out of her illness about 6 weeks before. Life is so precious. We need to enjoy each minute of every day. I realized that 13 years ago when I lost my husband. God Bless everyone!!!!!!!
The tears flow today just as they did 12 years ago when we lost this beautiful man. His songs are even stronger today around the world. Your fans miss you, John.
So beautiful, as only John can do. I love this song. What meaning this song has. It would be a good song to play at the end of a memorial of a love one. Great job putting video with it. Thank you. And thank you and miss you John.
Oh this is beautiful, especially the picture of the shooting star. It reminded me of the Hale-Bopp comet that was in the sky on the night of my last JD concert.
Our family are going through a bit of a hard time right now and this helped, thank you.

Every note he sang, all the music - was felt. One of my life's favorite moments.

There are many ways of being in this circle we call life
We all try to create our own
There is a spirit in us all that seeks escape to places unknown
To find places ours alone
And find the place we dream as home
And find a source to fly us home
As always
