Although Jessye Norman sings this gorgeously, she never did make Mozart her repertoire. I believe the Countess was the only Mozart role she performed. It is too grand, too much. It's a big, dark voice that has a different approach to the music. It just never felt too Mozartian. The role of the Countess should sound more vulnerable, heart broken and sympathetic. This Countess is too majestic and doesn't sound like the kind of woman who cries because her husband ignores her
