  • is this pedal fuck with your tone even though its not true bypass?

  • No joke, I've had 5 of these and my fifth one has just broke :( I'd be mad to actually buy 5 but they have all been replaced from the shop I bought it from, all 5 of them the pot just dies after about 5 months of use.. to the point where it is unusable.. So upset, its such a great sound but the pots get soo scratchy and noisy after a while. Feel free to message me for any info on the Ibanez wh10v2 I know my stuff after this many haha :P

  • @JFstrat90 Hey man, im getting the wh10v2 for christmas, and its a sick wah pedal, but i ehard that it doesnt have true bypass, can you tell me from your expeirience, in as much detail as you can what this means and what kind of tone of volume changes id notice, if there are any. Thanks!

  • @EasyOnTheAmoeba Im getting it for Xmas as well! :D

  • @EasyOnTheAmoeba Hey mate, sure, basically I love the pedal so much, I love the sound, look and feel. Im gutted they keep breaking ( I have had 5 reissues in total now ) Basically lets pretend you plug straight into the amp - you get a crystal clear sound! But plug the Ibanez wh10v2 in the loop and its like someone has come up to your strat and turned your tone control down to about 6/7. So you have to increase the treble on the amp, but you will never get the tone back that this wah steals :(

  • @JFstrat90 Ah okay i see, is it still worth it??

I really want a frusicante sound to my rig

  • @EasyOnTheAmoeba Well I guess it depends on your financial situation, I'd say go for it if you have the money for the repairs and patience because this pedal WILL at some point let you down. Ive had 5 now, I LOVE the pedal it sounds like no other, but I think its just tired me out now and I cannot deal with another problem, it just stresses me out. Mines just gathering dust and because I think no wah comes close to this one I doubt I will ever buy another wah. Such a shame because it sounds A+

  • how much does this pedal suck your tone when its on? I heard this is a common issue with the reissue

  • The WH10v2 is a great pedal, especially if you put it after distortion, which you really cannot do with a Cry Baby. You'll get that famous Frusciante sound, who has the best wah sound out there imo. However, there is a significant volume and tone loss, when it's in bypass mode. So I'll probably have to install a loop for this pedal alone so my normal guitar sound doesn't get affected.

  • @RonnieHornschuh True, I ended up converting mine to true bypass.

  • @RonnieHornschuh True, I ended up converting mine to true bypass.

  • Get on top!

  • have you changed anything on this pedal

  • @kcajtmurphy No, I filmed this within minutes of opening it new. I still have the pedal and haven't done any tone mods to it. I do wish it had a volume control though...

  • @NXC78 what the tone like when the pedal is off

  • Is the distortion before or after the wah-wah pedal? It sounds like a nice, chewy, full-sounding tone sweep.

  • Before, that's the way to go with a WH10. @DoobleyDooBAH

  • @NXC78 Thanks! So that's the guitar plugged straight into the wah and the distortion plugged straight into the amp? Just making sure.

  • @DoobleyDooBAH It's guitar- distortion- wah- amp.

  • @NXC78 Cool. Thanks!

  • @NXC78 wait why dist. before wah? shouldn't it go after?

  • @dman6505 Not with the WH10, but yes with an inductor based wah like a Crybaby or Vox wah.

  • @dman6505 That's because if you put many distortion units in front of an inductor-based wah (crybaby et al) it starts feeding back in an annoying screamy fashion.

Some bands have used that intentionally, but it's uncommon.

This was one of the first units that didn't do this.

  • @TheGzeus Very true and good info.

  • Hi :P i have the Dunlop Crybaby Model GCB-95 and i don't know if it makes sence to buy this pedal. Could you pleas help me?:) I really love the Red Hot Chili Peppers and John Frusciante and so I want to get a good Wah/Solo-sound like John has.

  • @Frusciante4ever77 You need the WH10 if you want to sound like John. A stock Crybaby doesn't have the tone, at least to my ears...

  • And by that i mean the volume...

  • when the depth level is high on my wh10, there is a huge volume boost, so i can't really use it without turning down the volume, does urs do that?

  • great pedal. now you need to develop a good taste for shoes :S

  • so can handle fuzz or all wah's can?

  • With Distortion (or overdrive, fuzz) which one do you prefer: Ibanez WH10 or the Vox? Nice Demo :D

  • @009Marcus WH10 for me. It's just a personal taste, I like how it reminds me of Frusciante's sound.

  • @NXC78 frusciante uses this pedal man

  • @nitrus202 Nah, he uses the original, the WH10.

  • @NXC78 I fucking love this pedal but had to bring it back to the store because it just boosts the signal so fucking much it's not even funny...

  • i think i want one.

  • te best! wah 10 !

    vodoo chile

  • how do you turn on and off the switch without removing the rubber padding??

  • @vizcacha5 I just use it a lot and now it's "broken in" I guess. When I first bought it, turning it on and off was difficult though.

  • Get on top !

  • hey, I´m searching for the sound at 1:40. I bought this wah but cant get this tone. Is it because you set the fuzz before the pedal? Does it change when you put it after the ibanez wha?

  • @xX4crazy4Xx At that point in the video I wasn't using fuzz, but did switch the wah to "bass" mode. Yes, putting the wah after the fuzz greatly effects the tone for the better in my opinion.

  • @NXC78 thank you man, very helpful =) I have to buy a fuzz pedal and the boss ds2 that I saw in your other video. Yes I love Frusciante :D

  • @NXC78 that doesn't break anything of the guitar or the wah or the amp??? i have problems for turn it on or off

  • @alexjamess I'm not sure what you mean... it was difficult to turn on and off the pedal when it was new. Now, it's no longer difficult to turn on and off. In my experience the little pad under the pedal needs to be broken in a bit and then it's easy to use.

  • love that sound at 1:43-1:44

  • do you have to use alot of force to turn this thing on and off? Ive just been reading reviews that its kind of a bitch to engage

  • Yep, it's a bitch but it's wearing in and getting easier. Some have removed the damper and that has helped. Also, there is no "click" you can feel on the reissue like you could on the origional. Still rather use this than any other wah. Hope this helps!

  • yea thanks alot it definitely does help alot...im a huge rhcp volta fan so i think ill make the non click work out somehow haha..but yea man thanks alot..great demo and playing by the way

  • im glad here in europe they havent overpriced it... on my next buy to thomann i will include one...

  • I got mine today! How come mine doesn't sound as full and big as yours? D'you think it could be my amp? I use a Roland Cube.

  • @Dave9494 Not too sure, haven't played through one of those. Is it a tube amp? What size strings do you use? I've got ten's on my strat. that may have something to do with it, but still not sure. I was using the bridge pickup on this with a stock US strat.

  • @NXC78 It's a small transistor combo. I've also got a strat with ten's on it. But I used the neck pickup, might try the bridge.

  • @Dave9494 Good luck!

  • When will this be available in Europe?

  • @Dave9494 thomann say they get it in on the 22nd

  • AND I FUCKING BOUGHT ONE

    YEEEEEEEAH

  • 2:21 get on top? chili peppers?

  • @Sockhead360 I tried! I'm really not sure how you play it.

  • lol i can't but i just ordered this pedal i liked how u played it though

  • @NXC78 put the fuzz after wah for get on top

  • 1:07 - 1:11 = John Frusciante

  • Hi I was wondering If you maybe could do me a great favour.

Could you maybe make a vid of the Wh10V2, which shows the inside of the pedal with the bottom plate removed.

I'm asking this because I know, in the past, Ibanez made two versions of the Wh10, which can be distinguished as Single Pot and Dual Pot version. They actually sound different. I would like to know which one they cloned as a reissue.

I'd really be very gratefull if you could.

    ciao!

  • The reissue has a dual pot. I checked it first thing when it arrived.

  • okay thanks, thats good news!

  • It really is a great reissue. very true to the original sound, feel, and characteristics!

  • I can't wait to get one, I used to own a Wh10, but ofcoarse, the pot died after a while.

  • Wow! How did you already get the WH10V2???

  • It's available at guitarcenter

  • jezus! finally a reissue!

    great playing by the way

  • Thanks!!

  • hey man, thansk for demoing the new one... and with the fuzz before the wah... is not common to see that arrangement on the youtube (althoug is my favorite..)

  • My favorite now too!

  • sounds good thanks for posting this demo

  • Hay, it would be great if someone could give me more infos about it like if it works good and does it have the sound like the old one! stuff like that would be very nice!

    thanks

  • Yes it works good and yes it sounds like the origional. Buy one man, before they realize they need to charge more for these! You won't regret it!!

  • Thank you very much for the post but my next problem is where can i buy one cause i´m from germany and i can´t find it and i need to have it on the 24th if you know why:D

  • send me a private message with your email and I'll see what I can do.

  • Sag mir mal bescheid, will's auch zu Weihnachten :D

  • wait how does it sound compared to your original?

  • It sounds pretty much just the same as far as I can tell.

  • are you ever gonna demo it on the same amp as the last one?

  • No, i got that demo confused with my Area 51 wah demo. I actually sold that Blackheart on ebay to buy the Deluxe Reverb. The blackheart was turned way down to keep a clean tone and the Deluxe Reverb is a real clean amp so I think it's still a fair comparison. I really can't tell the difference between the sound of the orig and this reissue. I can't stop playing since it got here!!

  • Cool, my wah broke (actually I broke it lol) so I'm gonna have to buy a new one. I'll probably get this haha

Maybe it's just the way the camera is facing, but I think that the wah and the fuzz are in different orders in the area 51 demo, are they?

  • Yes, you are correct. Someone said that John put the distortion before the wah so I thought you guys would want me to put the fuzz first this time.

  • instaboner

  • Where did you buy wh10v2?

  • guitarx. com

  • Sounds awesome with the MJM, probably cause its buffered, thx for the demo, two sweet pedals :) cant wait for the wh10v2 to hit Canada.
