See Nivek eating the hamburger? Yeah at the end of the show this dork over the top new waver picked up the pieces of the freaking hamburger, put them back into the container and took it home as some kind of memento. I draw the line...
@Morgethein WRONG. I knew they had one video on MTV back in the 80s when anyone could be on there. "With interests in filmmaking, they made a number of music videos, each attempting to further the theme and concept of the composition at hand. Most of these videos received little air play by major music video networks such as MTV (USA) and MuchMusic (Canada) and some were outright banned. For example the video for “Worlock” was universally banned..." (Ran out of room)
I wasn't alive in 1986, so I don't know for sure. I do know that Front Line Assembly received the "Best Alternative Video" award for "Mindphaser" from MTV.
"Dig It" was a pretty popular song. It was played over a lot of college radio stations and such.
It's not beyond the realm of reason for SP to be on MTV once or twice. They had a great performance on CBC Radio, you know.
yeah. muchmusic and whatever was coming out of vancouver at the time (i was happy to catch all of it) but definitely not mtv. even if they DID have the money they were too ahead of their time and outrageous for mtv to do it.
I did see them on MTV on that show "120 Minutes". Once or twice. That stupid show that was supposed to be "alternative" but mostly showed pretty tame, boring pretty much pop stuff rather than anything actually alternative. At the time when alternative actually still meant alternative. Before the term alternative was hijacked to mean "guys with long hair playing rock music that sounds slightly different from mainstream rock music". It was the video for Dig it by the way.
I saw them on that tour (in S.F. California) and blood was coming out the burger when he bit into it. He then started (fake) choking on it, and spitting chunks of it out. You could see bits of the burger and blood flying through the air! It was great! They are (or he is at least) vegetarian though so maybe it wasn't actual meat?
Don't eat the burger! Don't eat it! He looks like he's going to be sick there. At least he spit it out sorta. Yeah I got this whole Vancouver 1986 show from Demonoid..
I wish I was a teenager at that time, but I was only 6:(
