whats up eat pez its overkill. love these rotarded comments on here. such haters. long live the ls1 swap in the rx7's. people dont know what they are missing
Eatpez, don't worry. I have seen guys with 6-speed LS1 cars getting 28-31mpg on the highway. So putting that motor in a lighter car, should even give better MPG also. What the rotary guys don't understand, is that this motor can pull it'self along at 1,800 RPM'S on the highway and that is where it gets it's good MPG. Why do you think the C6 Z06 tops out in 5th, because 6th is just a overdrive gear.
Yes, lighter than a 13bT. It's not all aluminum, plus it has a turbo manifold, turbo, wastegate, turbo piping, intercooler, etc. so a turbo engine IS heavier than an NA. Why did Mazda publish weights 88GXL = 2625lbs, 88TII = 2844.
Give me your email and I'll send you a vid of a stock R1 weighted against a swap
And don't be preaching to the "haters" when that's what you're coming in here to do.
Also, tell us about your name. What does FC3S supposed to mean? Do you have more than one?
my ass it gets better gas milage and it weights less...its a v8 even if its alluminum, how you compare it to a rotarys weight??? i understand why you would pull a bad running engine out but danm at least get a 13t a turbo II motor and make the power the right way...lol
Yes, it weighs less, gets better gas mileage, makes more power, and is more dependable than any 13b out there. Sorry to burst your bubble. There are documented cars being corner weighed with a 13b and an LS1. LS1 block is 92lbs, heads are 19lbs each, add a rotating assembly, aluminum oil pan, and a plastic intake manifold, and you've got a motor. And sorry that I improved MY car and YOU have a problem with it.
OK make every one believe ur piece of shit ls1 is lighter than a rotary maybe an n/a 13b but not a 13b turbo thats all alluminum. And for your information my rotary engine is running pecfectly with no problems and all yall haters that dont know how to treat a rotary and be wondering why it be fucking up its cause all yall wanna do is fkn burn out all the time. lol
hitachi i am one one the stupid americans who helped pull that junky ass rotray out and throw it in the dumpster and im the stupid american who is talking in this video and im the stupid american who will break your jaw and you will have to suck your food through a straw for eight weeks YOU FAG!
Ya, you're right. I need to direct my life in ways to get more stars on youtube... If the rotary was so perfect, why wouldn't it crank up when I bought the car?? o, because it had 2 busted apex seals. And you're right, the LS1 is heavy and powerless... wait, stock for stock, it was 3x the hp and 4x the torque from the rotary IF it was running... and weighs less and gets better gas mileage. Real perfect engine you love. hahahaha. btw, learn to use punctuation. Who's stupid now?
I don't understand people that slam certain technology because it's not part of their "club".
People try to praise the rotary engine because it uses very f few parts, than they slam a pushrod design, no matter how developed, for the exact same reason! Few parts, but still high flowing heads... simplicity, light weight, low failure risk.
The Wankel engine, neat as it is, has about the worst horsepower per fuel volume consumed for any IC engine.
Mr Hitachi, I find it hilarious that you bring out the "Fucking stupid American" label, yet you learned a bit of English to communicate with an apparent group of retards. Fucking stupid Americans likely designed the computer and OS you are ranting on, and a group of (now very rich) fucking stupid Americans gave you this wonderful website in which you can lament our very existence.
@hitachi088 EatPez' reply is spot on. It is a common misconception that the LS1 is tons heavier than the rotary. Yes it is changing the fundemental point of the car but it is a change for the better. More economy, much better reliability and drive-ability are the result of this swap.

Hitachi. The rotary was far from perfect. 1st of all, it had 2 blown rear apex seals, 2nd the ALL IRON 13b weighs more than the ALL ALUMINUM V8. A brand new S4 13b is rated at 135hp and 95lbs of torque. Brand new LS1 is rated at 335hp and 370lbs. So to sum it up, it weighs less, has over 2x the hp and 3x the tq and gets better gas mileage (30mpgs, lets' see your perfect motor do that) and quadruples the resale value of the car. Sorry to burst your bubble. Tell Mazda Kid to come get some.
Wow, if you would look around the shop, you would see the car is in a paint shop. And wow, if you would look at my other videos, you would see the car painted.
Yeah i know im a dumb ass but still. Putting a LS1 in a mazda defeats the purpose of owning a rotary, sure its something different. What ever floats your boat.
I'm not owning a rotary, and I didn't buy the car because of the rotary. I bought it for a sports car and when the engine blew (no pun intended), it was time for an engine to complete the sports car package. Really, 135hp (Stock, bhp + 20 years= 85whp) is not my idea of a sports car. When minivans have a better 0-60 time, it's really time to reconsider what's under the hood.
becuase the rotories blew up and they cost big bucks for something the size of a damn sewing machine.also..Nothing sounds sweeter than a well tuned V8!
Leave it to a ignorant dipshit to think an LS1 displaces 350ci. Have you ever SEEN an LS1? Do you know how to intigrate the LS1 computer to the Mazda computer and drive accessaries through the GM and Mazda harness? Do you know how to use the GM ELECTRONIC speedo signal to drive the Mazda MECHANICAL speedometer? Do you know how to reprogram the GM computer to crank and run the engine WITHOUT the security device embedded in the GM ignition key?
Just to be a smartass, it displaces 5.7L, or 347 cu in. Anyway, awesome car! I laugh when the purists of any model whine when someone "desecrates" a car. This is what hotrodding is about: making a car your own and going faster in the process.
The FC/FD and the LS1 are a great fit. LS motors are all-aluminum folks, this is not your father's iron-block 350. So don't complain that they're heavy. They are also quite stout and don't blow up very often. And am I the only one who notices how much an FD and a C5 Vette look alike?
Lol :P And don't forget the tiny differences in machining from one block to the next too. Even if they would barely amount to a single cc most of the time.
well only one think to say.. to EACH THERE OWN, like your opinions are really going to matter to these folks who are contemplating on doing the swap.. or have already done it.. who's car is it again?.. THERES! im a rotary Purist also, but just because i love the FC for the simple fact the RX stands for rotary experiment.. thats me, others think otherwise.
if you want an ls-1 you should just sell yoour rx and get a camaro. n/a rx-7's have been heard of lasting 400-600 thousand miles before needing a rebuild, and as for speed i had an 86 turboII that had the power steering removed, as well as the ac and heater core. That shit was scary fast. The guy i bought it off had a half white and blue 91 turbo II that that walked vipers and corvettes daily, and F.Y.I a 20b would shit all over a v8. ROTARY nuff said.
Nothing beats displacement no matter what. You can get more power with lower octance and less money. I love imports and domestics. A true gearhead would know this.
how come if i see any RX7 for sale, and it has over 40k miles.. the rotary and/or turbo has been or needs to be replaced? Great idea and performance out of such a small engine but the lil bastard just flies apart... i have a 500+ daily driver in my Trans Am WS6 and even with the mods i would trust to drive it cross country.
10 seconds is 10 seconds regardless of whether it's from low end torque or mid range power. I myself prefer mid range power because it makes daily driving easier and is a hell of alot more fun. If your too careless or irresponsible for a rotary then thats on you.
Ya, but the 20b would be just as high maintenance as the 13b, WEIGH MORE THAN AN LS1, harder to get, harder to find parts for, and I don't care about 'truely' being an RX7. I care about 'truely' being the fastest car around. Thanks anyway.
