I'm an avid Tales fan and have been for years! i love Tales of the abyss, symphonia, and so forth, but for the record i gotta say tales of Legendia is the weakest Tales title they have ever made. Thats just me.
How is this game? I've beaten a few Tales games, but this one looks..... Holy hell, let's just say that I'm not impressed. I heard it was awesome, though, can anyone maybe tell me if it's good?
@swordfish1390 Having played all the tales games including the japanese only ones, I can say without a doubt that Legendia has the best OST, storyline and cast out of the series. In return, you get long, sluggish dungeons that are entirely mazes, and the slow and button mashy battles seen in the video. In addition to the dungeons being just mazes, you have to do all of them twice.
i personally love the game, though. I really got attached to the characters and I listen to the OST all the time.

I'm on chapter 2, and the place after that ship scene when you're going after Will and Chloe. These characters are very colorful and full of life. The battle system controls feel whonky at times, and the buttons are super sensitive, but really, this is a very good game so far!

@ChevyJP86 well, i don´t know how anyone could think that selecting Attack, Tech, Magic, or Defend can stand up to yourself controlling the hero and doing amazing combos and enjoying the thrill of a real-time battle instead of being relaxed while the opponent waits and sees how you attack him :/
@EXHellfire Thats because it's a totally different RPG all together! thats like saying the battle system to Crono Trigger id inferior to that of a tales game! when it isn't and it is very much enjoyed by many! but its also a different style of RPG, your concepts of control are more based on action RPGs which is fine but its all a metter of opinion and in my opinion they work for Tales games, where games like the FF series should be left alone because the old game mechanics work well
@ChevyJP86 Chrono Trigger is another case, you can choose a dynamic game style, and it´s amazing. But Final Fantasy is underrated by many just because it´s boring to choose to attack and such. It´s like playing a pokemon game without the option to catch and raise little bitches. The only good side to final fantasy as a games franchise, is the storyline telling, which was and is outshined by Tales of in general.
I wouldn´t say the mechanics work well, most people say FF would be nicer otherwise.

The characters are funny, and well designed, and you get a full 8 party through the whole game. i love it, and i can't stop going through more playthroughs... And when i saw indignation in this game, i looked at Genis' Indignation, and to me, Genis' is WAY COOLER... i mean, the indignation in this game, also stated by AnimangaDaioh, looked like Genis' lightning...
was this for ps1? There were so many games like this it was all a blur, Suikoden, Legaia, Wild Arms, Beyond the Beyond. Good times, younger and happier then :(
@JadaQuan44 depends on the system. for the ps2 i would get tales of the abyss over legendia.. you would love it. the over all best 1 to me though would be tales of symphonia on the gamecube.. good storyline with alot a freedom and extra things to do. tales of the abyss is good also tho.

@MorpheusVGX Tales games are definitely not on the same tier as FF games in my opinion, they are great games but FF and chrono trigger/cross are better. Tales lacks a certain epicness that FF and CT/C have, its too light hearted for me, just my opinion. I admit that FF games have gone down hill in recent years though.
@Bidon45 I used to be a big fan of FF games. From FF 1 to 6, and FF9. I didn't like 7, 8, and 10 much. Nowadays, Tales game are better to me for many reasons. They do have an epic feel. What you don't have in tales if a lot of animated cutscenes. The thing is that I like it better when scenes are made with the game's engine, because graphic quality change breaks diegesis. On the other hand, character designs and development is much better. The art is in harmony, unlike recent FFs.

There is only a japanese version from tales of destiny 2 but google for "tales of destiny 2 translation" theres a team acutally working on an english patch for the game.
It's a matter of opinion. Some like the flow of FF' battles, and others like the more run-about-styled gameplay battles of Tales Series. Honestly, I love both.
That's because Jak 3 is a platformer, not an RPG game...
To the people that aren't liking the 2D-like combat in this game, try the other 3D Tales games that allow running freely in any direction. Other 2D Tales games are cool too, but close-minded people with low attention-spans wouldn't try them.

And try to open the menu and choose the spells of ur allies or just chloe. She dont use the best skill all the time so sometimes is better u spend a little time choosing what her will do to be more succesfull and dont wait the AI do everything. =P
Oh fuck... put Chloe to atack the same enemy as Senel when ur controling him. Do you movements and when ur almost finishing, wait her atack... when she almost finish her turn u use a skill too... do that and the monsters wont even have a chance to atack u... only in cases with spell monsters for example. But combos is just to avoid things like that with u being caught by this shit monster.... =/

Hows the combat in battles compared to Abyss? I found myself completely bored playing Abyss, with a friend mind you. Better combat/gameplay = better game. Im used to playing competetive SFIII - 3rd Strike so.

symphonia and abyss were good, but I just think that if your a fan of the tales series, you should play this one as well. It's still a great game. Btw try phantasia, eternia, and destiny, all great!

I gotta admit, the attacks do look pretty crappy, but just because the attacks aren't the best of the Tales series, doesn't mean it's a horrible game. It's a great game, very fun to play and the storyline is neat. You shouldn't judge games ONLY by graphics. This game had AMAZING music (best of the Tales so far) and the storyline was great too.

Legendia was the best tales of ever. Deepest story and characters of them all. Yes it wasnt good in terms of graphics and such.. but it delivered more depth.

@iamnotskyler symphonia 2 came out pretty awesome, Emil Castagnier is amazing later on even though he starts all crappy like a cowardish bitch. Still, the artes are awesome, and the combos too. The storyline was good, but why wasn´t it longer? I felt I finished it too soon -.-
even though this game looks good (which it is) it kinda crash landed into tales as there first 3D game and i dont think it went over well at all in america. it seemed kinda rushed and they could have done a better job especially with monster encounter system since it was like a copy of FFVII's. it seems almost like tales of the tempest for the DS which wasnt so good as to where it probably wont make it to america so atleast legendia beat that but i would still say this game is really fun though.
I get what you mean. However, I liked the somewhat random encounter system which made it easier to level up compared to more recent tales games where you can see the enemy on screen. But one thing that really annoyed me is that battling on the world map. The camera always has to center back after each fight and it takes a while to load.
I like the looks of this game, but were you controlling the main character, who I think was the ninja, who used some sort of sword rain with his foot?

There is only a japanese version from tales of destiny 2 but google for "tales of destiny 2 translation" theres a team acutally working on an english patch for the game.

It's a matter of opinion. Some like the flow of FF' battles, and others like the more run-about-styled gameplay battles of Tales Series. Honestly, I love both.

That's because Jak 3 is a platformer, not an RPG game...
To the people that aren't liking the 2D-like combat in this game, try the other 3D Tales games that allow running freely in any direction. Other 2D Tales games are cool too, but close-minded people with low attention-spans wouldn't try them.

And try to open the menu and choose the spells of ur allies or just chloe. She dont use the best skill all the time so sometimes is better u spend a little time choosing what her will do to be more succesfull and dont wait the AI do everything. =P

Oh fuck... put Chloe to atack the same enemy as Senel when ur controling him. Do you movements and when ur almost finishing, wait her atack... when she almost finish her turn u use a skill too... do that and the monsters wont even have a chance to atack u... only in cases with spell monsters for example. But combos is just to avoid things like that with u being caught by this shit monster.... =/

Hows the combat in battles compared to Abyss? I found myself completely bored playing Abyss, with a friend mind you. Better combat/gameplay = better game. Im used to playing competetive SFIII - 3rd Strike so.

I gotta admit, the attacks do look pretty crappy, but just because the attacks aren't the best of the Tales series, doesn't mean it's a horrible game. It's a great game, very fun to play and the storyline is neat. You shouldn't judge games ONLY by graphics. This game had AMAZING music (best of the Tales so far) and the storyline was great too.

Legendia was the best tales of ever. Deepest story and characters of them all. Yes it wasnt good in terms of graphics and such.. but it delivered more depth.

even though this game looks good (which it is) it kinda crash landed into tales as there first 3D game and i dont think it went over well at all in america. it seemed kinda rushed and they could have done a better job especially with monster encounter system since it was like a copy of FFVII's. it seems almost like tales of the tempest for the DS which wasnt so good as to where it probably wont make it to america so atleast legendia beat that but i would still say this game is really fun though.

I get what you mean. However, I liked the somewhat random encounter system which made it easier to level up compared to more recent tales games where you can see the enemy on screen. But one thing that really annoyed me is that battling on the world map. The camera always has to center back after each fight and it takes a while to load.
