the original godzilla movies were better in storyline, but this movie had better creature animation, plus this movie was not half-bad. it just took america 50 years for us to come up with our own monster - cloverfield. king kong dont count he's just an oversized ape :)

@nirvanaspirit666 you should look up The Beast from 20, 0000 Fathoms, a film from 1951(4 years before godzilla first film) this movie had more in common with that film than any godzilla movie, plus we also had It came from beneath the sea from 1953 about a gigantic octopuss attacking san fransisco, so we've had a few monsters of our own, cloverfield was crap though, too much focus on the poeple and not the monster.

just to point something out about GODzilla's death, he was killed with the same missiles that blew up madasin square gardens it took 1 to blow it up, now think to blow up MSG these missiles must be pretty powerful, so maybe the american Godzilla isn't so weak, besides he's supposed to represent a natural animal, alot of animals flee when in danger he's supposed to act realistic good movie, loved the cartoon sequel, hope the american gets more appearences or the cartoon continues one day.

Ok, the movie was not that bad. Dont get me wrong I freaking love GODZILLA. The good thing bout Zilla was the new look and his agility. But he was so dam weak, it is sad. No fire breath no heat vision, no real reference to Japan, they really took away a lot that made him GODZILLA. I did not like the asexual reproduction at all. I HATE they killed him, 50years Japan could not kill him. 1 day the US kills him. But still ZILLA was good. It was not GODZILLA but it was still a fun movie.
