Poodles are fantastic hunters and love the chase but you're right we had a miniature who could "rat out" a rabbit in the woods but never once in his whole life could he catch one. I think the rabbits enjoyed it more than he did! LOL
Poodles also have a unique style about them when they're interested, as you know. Mine was so funny when he chased. Didn't run like a regular dog but rather jumped forward like a deer or something barking his head off. Quite quirky.
